History

Established in 1996.

Mt Gate RV Park was constructed in 1995 – 1996 on a farmstead, 3 miles from Lake Shasta.

In 2003 the Park was purchased by Patrick and Jodi from Lake Tahoe, Ca. Being on site managers and owners they made «pride of ownership» and great customer service the #1 priority.

A large number of improvements have been added over the years including a hot tub, cabins, high-​speed internet, cable TV and continental breakfast.

Patrick and Jodi and Ross (the pug) bought MT. Gate RV Park in 2002 in the beautiful Lake Shasta area.

As owners and operators along with our staff strive to give each guest individual attention, excellent facilities and knowledge of the Shasta/​Cascade wonderland.

We enjoy all of the outdoor activities the area offers. Excellent fishing, boating, biking and hiking. Redding offers a broad reach of activities including the Sundial Bridge, Cascade Theater, fine restaurants and great shopping.

Pat and Jodi love to share park and surrounding area with guest and friends.

We only stayed one night as we were traveling through but this place was very nice. A little pricey but worth it. All the restrooms/​showers were very nice and clean.

Good location off the freeway. Staff is very friendly. WE stayed here for 5 days. Pool and spa area very clean, as was the laundry room. Spacious sights, we didn’t feel crowded in, in our clean pull through site. They offer a Continental breakfast til 9:30 which is nice.
Good centralized location for a Home Base so you can be within short travel time to Caverns, Shasta Dam, Whiskey Town Lake, etc…
I would highly recommend Mountain Gate RV Park, even if just for a overnighter… although you may wanna stay longer…

I’ve stayed at lot’s of places and you can’t beat this simple high quality R.V. park. The people are gentle and the scenery is wonderful. They have a breakfast and a clean dog run which is rare on the I-​5. Nice pull through sites. Utilities are 1st rate 50⁄30 amp cable and clean level pads. Off from the city by 19 miles which weeds out the Hotel California crowds that are near the busy Wal-​Mart areas of Nor Cal. There is a store just a mile down the road and it’s right next to the ranger station. What a wonderful safe starting point each morning, I really love Mountain Gate RV Park & Cabins when I’m looking for the best R. V Park near Lake Shasta in Redding California. If you know your R.V. Parks you will love this place come see for yourself.

We stayed overnight at Mountain Gate RV Park (near Redding, CA), en route from Oregon to the Bay Area. A very pleasant experience overall: thoughtfully-​designed RV park, super-​clean and well-​maintained facilities, complimentary breakfast, and friendly owners and staff!
What we liked:
— Just off the I-​5, so very convenient location
— Well-​designed RV park: numerous pull-​through lots, each with tree shade and level concrete lots
— RV park is *very* clean, and the bathrooms /​shower facilities in particular are immaculate!
— Continental breakfast included
— Game room and pool in the common area (both small, but well-​kept)
What we didn’t like (purely a function of the location):
— Road noise from the I-​5 nearby (but not that big a deal)
— Redding, CA is *very* hot in the summer!
Overall – while we wouldn’t consider Mountain Gate to be a longer-​term camping destination, this is a fantastic pit stop that serves RV travelers along the I-​5 well.

This was my very first time staying at an RV park and renting an RV. Back in December 2014 myself and my best friend opted to rent an RV and drive from Northern California to Washington State via highway 5. As we embarked on our journey we drove out of the RV park and straight to highway five. As the night began to fall upon us we found ourselves in Redding, CA and we began looking for a place to park for the night. As we drove on highway five we began to search via our mobile phones for RV parks in the area and sure enough we came across Mountain Gate RV Park. We called the number and got Jodi (Hi Jodi) on the line, the sweetest person you could ever speak with (as it was very, very late). She gave us directions, we drove into the park, grabbed a spot and as it was very, very late she said it was ok to settle our balance in the morning. That morning I went into the office to settle my balance and spoke with Don (at the front desk), also the sweetest man you could ever meet (Hi Don). Jodi and Don made our experience easy and effortless, thank you.
We were so happy to find this RV park and the price and hospitality was remarkable, I highly recommend this RV park if you need a quite, clean and safe place to doc for the night or two (as they have full hook-​up). I almost forgot about the continental breakfast from 7−10am, so good. If you do decide to stop in and hook-​up please be kind, quite and respectful as this place is a jewel. Two thumbs and all ten toes up.

The owners take pride in their park and it shows. The maintenance is as good or better than any park that I’ve stayed at. The staff is friendly and the level concrete slab spaces are a plus. Especially in the rain. Their lit, fenced in dog run is good sized and a nice bonus while staying here with pets. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this park to anyone.

Best (seemingly) little rv park we’ve ever stayed in. 122 clean level sites, with well maintained lawns and well established trees. Nice pool area with hot tub. Friendly and helpful staff. Large clean restrooms. Club house with large screen tv, and a continental breakfast. Free Wi-​Fi that works well. Close to Redding. I would highly recommend it

Lots of pull throughs. Great park to pull into for the night or a couple of nights. Reasonable prices. Sites are very close. Only negative thing about the park is that you are less than 15 feet from your neighbor. Other than that, very clean and nice park.

We have stayed here twice. So, why the one star? Because our stuff got stolen during our stay here. When we talked to the staffs there, the first thing they said was the people staying next to us must have taken it. But our stuff was still there after our neighbors left the park. So, they started asking the maintenance people and found nothing. What a shame, this RV park is really decent. They have a swimming pool, a nice swing set for children to play and continental breakfast. Although it could be loud because they are located next to I-​5. We will try another RV park if we ever visit Redding again.

4.5 stars! I’m not a RV-​type, but we used Mountain Gate RV Park to camp overnight while traveling around northern California and Oregon. Definite thumbs-​up for this place!
We found the place online, and liked that they had an online reservation system — but I ended up calling to make the reservation over the phone when I had a few questions — and it turned out that the phone rate was cheaper for tenters like us. I also got information from the staff including best directions, local weather, and such.
We got in late, but the wonderful staff had our reservation information out front, and came out to greet us, and direct us to our site, and told us about their lounge/​common room — which had a nice big TV and an old Atari 2600 and karaōke. After we got to our site and set up our tent on the concrete RV pad, and then used the on site electricity to inflate our air mattress, we returned to the game room to play on the Atari 2600. They had a stack of games, some of which were more a puzzle to figure out how to play, but others were good fun and a blast from the past. After watching Mad Men on their big tv, we went back to our site and went to bed, enjoying the stars.
The only drawback of this RV park would be for tent-​users like ourselves — noise at night. It is a stone’s throw from I-​5, so light sleepers be warned about the freeway noise. It ended up getting rather windy in the night as well (I don’t know if this is a constant feature or just a random occurrence, and the rustle of the windy through the trees also kept us up).
The nearby restroom building was very clean, well-​lit and spacious, with good showers, sinks, and toilet stalls.
In the morning, they had a basic continental breakfast (danishes, toast or english muffins plus coffee and tea) in the game room, and gave us a chance to see some of the other RV park users, mostly seniors at this time of the year.
They also have a pool and several other amenities which we didn’t have time to use as we had to hit the road. They also have a small shop for snacks and supplies, and information on local attractions and such, open during the day. They accept Mastercard and Visa but not American Express.
I would give 5 stars with all the amenities, welcoming and friendly staff, clean campgrounds, except for that freeway noise we could hear from our tent.
