Kent’s Meat and Groceries

What a great place. Always friendly staff. Was walking out the other day, and the bag broke, 100% my fault. Only thing that got messed up was a piece of pie, a employee was standing outside and offered to replace it, I said no need it was my fault he replaced it anyway, and let me keep the messed up pie.
Thanks again for your great local shopping experience that I have come to enjoy over the past couple years.

We bought our 2^nd side of beef here recently and We could not be happier. Kent knows what he is doing in the butcher department! The cuts have been perfect, the meat is well marbled and more than delicious, try melt in your mouth ambrosia!
Even though we picked our order up about 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday night we were treated very well by the employees as soon as we walked in the market and all the way out to our truck to have the freshly frozen meat loaded up.

Had the tritip family dinner last night. Paid $ 38 for it. The tritip was old dry and cold. Baked beans were plain. We had to heat the tritip up in the oven. They had dozens of fresh tritip cooking while I was there yet they get one that’s in a metal box that’s probably been sitting all day! The tritip was dry, not very good flavor, and very chewy.

Everything I have bought from Kents has been wonderful! I love that it’s so handy, close to my home! People are very courteous and helpful.

Kent’s Meats is great. I shop there often. They have the best selection of meats I have seen. They also offer propane and gas, which is very handy. I love the open barbecue they do in the parking lot. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

Great place if you need special order meat. Sandwiches are excellent!

I had my deer processed here. Outstanding service. Very secured meat locker, employee took the deer from my vehicle without me lifting it, called to get order and had it ready in 2 or 3 weeks. Received a worksheet with details regarding total weight at drop off, number of packages and cut, and fees for the added pork for the Summer Sausages.
At pick up, employee stayed with me until it was all put in a cooler. Can’t say how great this service has been.
My brother had the opposite experience in Alturas having his meat processed. Never knew having a deer processed could be so different.
Keep up the great service by keeping the site secured and a clean operation.

My family and I were heading down to the bottom and were thinkin of lunch. Since I had never experienced a kents sandy and had heard nothing but good I decided to stop and give um a shot.
I usually judge all sandwiches by how they measure (literally) up to Raleys on lake blvd sandys. Raleys does NOT PLAY AROUND when it comes to there hoagies. You get a full for 11.00 and its close to 16″ long with plenty of great quality ingredients. My wife, 11 yr old daughter, and I share a full. This could vary pending on the builder, but expect to get what your payin for.
Anyway back to kents. We walk in and its fairly busy. Make our way over the the deli and lookin at the sandwiches they look good. Checkin out what kinds they have and then I see the price! WOW! $ 9 each and about half the size of raleys. You can get a sandwich twice as big at Raleys for ²⁄₃ the price of kents. Then we checked out the sides, that actually looked pretty good, but once again EXPENSIVE! I don’t know if they put gold flakes in there potato salad, but they sure charge like they do. After speaking with my father in law, who happens to live close to the market he explained how he doesn’t shop there any more because they are much pricier than other grocery stores in town.
After seeing that, and actually caring about getting a good deal for what I am paying, we left. Probably never to return unless there are no other options. kents has become to me like a place I go if its Thanksgiving day, NOTHING else is open, and I need something in an emergency. Other than that I will keep driving right on by no matter what it is I am looking for. Bummer I had really hoped to try out there stuff that I had heard about.

As far as hanging/​processing game Clear Creek has always done me right. They made me 40lbs of bear sausage that was off the charts good! At a great price to boot.

At our office we have a lunch tradition.
Every Friday we get Tri Tip Sandwiches from Kent’s.
A whole new reason to TGIF.

The only place in Redding I know of which sells Prather Ranch beef. Pricey but it’s quality.

Brought in half a pig to have butchered and was told it would be several weeks. 6 weeks into it they didn’t know where it was or what happened to it. 8 weeks finally ready and charged more than we were quoted. Way over priced! Would never use their service again.

This is the best local grocery store. They have everything and their sandwiches are beyond excellent. The owners are such nice, humble people. Every staff member has a smile on their face and offers a helping hand. Their meats, fresh vegis, local desserts, pies, breads, muffins, cookies, cheeses, are all the best. Oh, their sandwiches. Guess what I’m eating tomorrow.

5 stars for the macaroni and potato salad alone! My family lives a little over 30 minutes away from Kent’s but we’ll make the drive out for the salads, they’re that good. I’m coming home for Christmas soon and you bet that’s one of the things I’m hoping to eat while I’m home.
Beyond the salads, they have high quality meats and produce and the service is always fantastic! It’s a little pricier but you’re paying for quality and keeping it local.

Shop local, shop Kent’s! It’s the day before Thanksgiving and I decided to skip the big markets and head over to Kent’s to get a few items for tomorrow. I’m so glad I did! Only a few other customers and not one of them in my way. Such a relief!
Prices are competitive. I have no complaints about that. They are always friendly and helpful here. They are offering more gluten-​free and natural foods now. Checkout is quick.
Meat selection is good and that thick-​cut BACON they carry is phenomenal (they also carry organic bacon!). They are pretty proud of it too, and for good reason. They also carry Prather Ranch beef and have an IMPRESSIVE cheese selection.
Their beautiful produce section is small and organized and they do carry some organics and local varieties. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t have more organic lettuce; I had to end up getting some packaged Organic Girl salad mix since the selection was low.
If you feel like being especially naughty, go in the back and grab some day old donuts (2/.99!). They pack them up so they are still fresh (but slightly crispy on the outside – just the way I like them!)

JGW RV park referred us to Kent’s for the best prices in the area on gas. It was a little, but not too much, off the beaten path to find this special place. Gas prices were good but the steady flow of people going in and out of the store suggested we should take a look inside.
Two cashier lines were 3 – 4 people deep in the snug facilities. I did not realize they were an original buyer for Prather Ranch meats and missed out at the time for some high quality, closed system beef (they grow their own non-​corn feed for finishing their pasture-​raised cattle). We were here on a Friday and I think we found a deli container of their tri-​tip, bbq beef slices and a salad to go. Great picnic fare! That tri tip beef was wonderfully tender and seasoned just right! I can’t remember what the salad was but I do remember saying that we’ll have to make this a regular stop whenever near Redding, as they’re located just south and not too far off I-​5. Staff was courteous, helpful, and friendly. Look them up!

I can’t say enough about Kent’s, it’s my
favorite place to shop! Not only do they have the best quality meats but the customer service is nothing short of outstanding! They make the best bratwurst I’ve had outside of WI and they also have a wonderful cheese selection. They also just added a great craft beer section.

Best little market/​deli ever. Kathy’s food is great and if they don’t have it just ask. He likely will try to stock it for you. We are so lucky to have such a quality place in this area

I love this store! They always have friendly and helpful customer service. The store is super clean, has great meat and has a great butcher service during hunting season. Always a great experience!

What a pleasant little gem. We found it on a Dog Friendly app and cross-​referenced it to Unilocal.
There are picnic tables next to the soda machines and another one out under the trees in the parking lot.
We assumed that this was a sandwich shop/​grocery store. It’s primarily a grocery store with some ready made sandwiches, salads and other dishes right in front of you when you walk in. Over on the left side is the help yourself broasted chicken, fries and soda fountains.
The best part of our visit was meeting Kent’s son. He was a chatty guy who noticed that we were wandering around looking for a sandwich shop. Son immediately ripped open a bag of their homemade pastrami and insisted that we sample it. De-​lish!
As we were eating at the picnic table, son came over and asked if he could give our little poodles a few bones. Even the dogs made a score.
The chicken oriental salad was de-​lish. As was the homemade tamale pie.
Such a friendly little out of the way gem.
