Established in 1923.

Buchanan Grocery’s reputation as the place to go to buy your meat, groceries, & produce in Red Wing has been well established since it first opened in 1923. The store is still recognized as such by newcomers and long-​time residents alike. Since 1955, Buchanan Grocery has been owned and operated by the Florine family, now into its fourth generation of grocers.

Consistent quality; an extensive meat, fresh fish, and seafood department; full array of groceries, availability of unique specialty and gourmet food products, including gluten-​free and organic items; fresh produce and dairy (with a large array of cheeses); and personalized service all contribute to the store’s reputation.

Buchanan Grocery’s storemade potato salad is also legendary. Over 3.5 tons or 7,000 pounds of potatoes are boiled and peeled by hand in the store each year to go into its secret recipe, which was developed by Dolores Florine in the 1960’s.
