A children’s paradise under one roof. We have unique and inspiring toys from around the world, an amazing selection of candies and chocolates, and fun and engaging activities for kids ages 18 months — 12 years. We also offer babysitting nights and birthday parties for kids ages 3 – 8 years.

History

Established in 2014.

The business plan for Little Pickles was written in 2009 when owner, Rebecca Rothstein, was a Pre-​K teacher in the city. She imagined a Children’s General Store & Playhouse with everything a child loves: toys, candies, and fun. After moving to the Hudson Valley in 2010 Rebecca started Little Pickles Family Day Care out of her home. She became friends with one of the mothers, Laura Pelosi, who had also recently moved to the Hudson valley. Soon Laura started working with Rebecca as her assistant in the Day Care and eventually they became business partners, committed creating the Children’s General Store & Playhouse Rebecca had imagined. And so, Little Pickles was born on October 15^th 2014.

Rebecca has a Master’s in Early Childhood, Childhood, and Museum Education from Bank Street Graduate School of Education. She taught Pre-​K in NYC before moving to Red Hook in 2010, where she opened and ran The Little Pickles Family Day Care out of her home until 2014. She is a mother to two incredible kids, who remind her daily that life should be full of adventure, fun, and hugs.
