San Remo Restaurant

The best food cant make up for miserable service. 6:45 reservation — seated at 7:15. Complete chaos in the waiting area with reservations at least 30 minutes late. Sat down, got menus and that was it. At 7:30 the waiter came by to open the wine and let us know the specials. Bread brought and order taken at 7:40. Appetizers brought at 8:00. Meal finally brought at 8:30. Didn’t get the check until 9:00 at which point I just wanted to get out of there.
Another couple was seated next to us — sat for 15 minutes completely ignored and then got up and left. If you arent in a rush (like 3 hours) then this place is for you. Otherwise, not worth the money spent.

Consistently excellent, with superb and attentive service. BYOB, which we prefer since we would rather spend our money on spectacular food rather than a bar tab. We have shared the appetizer tower for two… UNBELIEVABLE. The menu salads and entrees are all excellent, but we always look forward to the specials. Giovanni is an amazing chef who will accommodate dietary restrictions and is always creative and flexible to meet your needs. Presentation is as beautiful as the food is delicious. Not being meat eaters, we have never been disappointed with the many fish and seafood selections.
We were at San Remo on Valentine’s Day with a party of seven. The service and food were consistently good, even though it was a busy evening. We were seated comfortably (not cramped into a tight space), we did not have to wait for our food and we were not rushed. It was perfect!
IF you want an excellent Italian meal — you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful restaurant, attentive service, and creative Italian dishes. As good as it gets! The specials all sounded so tasty, we had a hard time deciding what to order. We chose calamari puttanesca and stuffed mushrooms to start, san remo pasta and lobster ravioli for our entrees, and lemon sorbet and strawberries with zabaglione for dessert. The food was so fresh and gorgeously plated. We were there for Valentine’s Day, what a great place to have a relaxing romantic dinner. We left full and happy. Great spot! — Nick & Leane

Beautiful restaurant with amazing, creative food! They treat you like gold here everyone is so nice and attentive! The food is exemplary do try the hot and cold antipasto for two!!! We also love the shrimp with spaghetti! The pasta is cooked perfectly! There are always delicious specials it’s hard to decide what to have! Be assured everything is fabulous and the staff cannot be nicer! If you want superior food served by wonderful staff don’t miss San Remo’s!

This has always been our «go to «restaurant for my husband and I. But, we went two weekends ago with 2 other couples and for the first time, I have to admit I was a little disappointed. We had a reservation and got a lovely table. Our waiter (forget his name, gray haired man) was adequate at best. He came right over to give us the «specials» menu, then disappeared for 10 – 15 min. before coming back to take our appetizer order. We had to flag down a bus boy to open our wine. We gave him our dinner order at the same time as our appetizers thankfully, because we waited a good 40 – 50 min for our dinners to arrive. The food was delicious as usual, however I noticed the portion size had shrunk from our last visit. I don’t recall our waiter coming over ever to check on us after we finally got our food. We will go back, but not for a while as we have a new «go to «restaurant now! :(

Delicious food, excellent service! Last night we went for an early dinner for a Special Birthday Celebration. We all could not be happier with our meals, from the very start, the bruchetta is excellent and the buratta is not to be missed perfection! Our entrees ranged from veal, chicken, shrimp and red snapper all cooked perfectly. We could not be happier, what an excellent dinner on a Tuesday night in Red Bank. A must try if you haven’t been! We will be back soon!!!

A Disaster!
Nothing they got right. wrong soups, wrong salads, but the worst was the Food!
bolognese was like a Toco: cooked meat (not in A sauce-​just ground meat) on pasta with a watery cream sauce under pasta-​disgusting!!! Then to top it off they over charged us $ 100 to our bill!!! I will never go back EVER! I then asked the owner and he said that it was New Year and very busy when there was only two other table and we had dinner at 4??? I would go out anywhere for pizza rather then spend money on here. We go out all the time and never have a problem .

Made a reservation for 8:00 got there a little bit early and our table wasn’t ready. No problem, until 8:40 rolled around and still no table. Why take a reservation if you don’t have a table. If I could leave 0 stars I would

Made a 6:30 reservation for two on a Saturday. Was seated on time. After making the orders the appetizers arrived about 1 hour later. The dinner arrived at 8:30! They blamed the kitchen saying they were missing a chef. Not at all fine dining if you have to wait 2 hours for your meal. The surrounding tables had the same experience and they were complaining to the servers. Those who complained, got dessert and coffee on the house. Me to bring to nice, didn’t make much noise, so I got charged for dessert. They should have comped all the patrons for dessert due to the massive delays on getting their food. Needless to say that will be my last visit to San Remo. They should simply remove the «Fine» from their name.

I don’t get some of these reviews. Maybe we walked into a different restaurant. We had a reservation for 4. We walk into a dark, smelly area where there was no hostess. We stood about 6 mins. before she appeared. She was friendly, but clueless. Asked for our name, said oh yes, 1 min., leaves and comes back in 5 mins. Leads us and another party upstairs and tells to the other group since they are first they can pick their table. The room was so loud we could barely hear each other as we sat down. The room looked like I was sitting in someone’s attic with zero atmosphere. As we sat there and waited for service our friend asked the next table how the food was and they replied, we like The Olive Garden more. As we looked at each other we realized let’s cut our losses and leave, and since no one had come to the table. On our way out the hostess says to us thanks for coming and I hope you enjoyed it. I can’t say if the food was good, great or bad but I don’t think we will ever be back to try it.

The food and service was great! The calamari puttanesca was awesome, and so was the penne vodka with chicken. The place is byob and they bring you anything you need. Our server, Rafaele was very friendly, kind and attentive. Overall, it was a solid experience! I am definitely going to go back many more times!

There was NOT ONE customer in the restaurant at 8:30p on a Tuesday. Regardless, the food was delicious. Seems like the nice neighborhood date spot. White table cloths, candles, music, dim lights. I had the shrimp and scallops, but instead of over linguine, I substituted the vegetables of the night. Yum yum.

Oh my God! If only I could give zero star!!! If you would like to waste your money and time go to this restaurant! I’m trying not to be mean but I just can’t! It was one of the worst restaurant I’ve ever gone in the U.S. First we entered the restaurant we smelled a very bad air but I said maybe it’s because the building is a little bit old! We were the only guests there. Staff was not friendly at all. They were not respectful and they asked us to order in 10 min. It was hard because all the names on menu were difficult and I would have rather to read them in peace but the waiter was there staring at us and ready to take the order! So I ordered a kind of pasta and my friend ordered sea food. We waited for the food to be ready and while that 3 waiters were there looking at us and kind of mad at us because it was late at night and I think they might have been ready to close the restaurant! But we called them before going there and they didn’t say they were ready to close! So it was not our fault! When the food got ready I felt the worst smell a food can have! The sea food smelled like a dead fish in an aquarium! I’m not exaggerating guys! It was really not eatable! My food was not cooked! Pasta was half cooked and the chicken pieces were not cooked as they should have been! You know uncooked chicken is not eatable at all! It was pretty obvious that they wanted to do it fast and get rid of last guests! They stared at us the whole time and I was not comfortable at all! I’m not picky I swear! But it was beyond bad! The food, the way they served us and the feeling we had there! I know they may do a better job when it’s weekend or when it’s not late but they could simply tell us they were about to close the restaurant and that way we could go somewhere else they enjoy our time. We didn’t want to bother them. It was the very first place we couldn’t pay tip! I’m not sorry for that and I think the money we paid for that bad food was more than they deserved!

Food was awful. Don’t waste your money/​time. Shrimps was tough and hard. Fish was smelly, lobster tail was not fresh and turned black. I couldn’t eat even half of it.
Never ever again.

Phenomenal service and delicious food. What more can you ask. Had mussels as an appetizers and salmon as entrée, both were spot on. Great atmosphere as well

I love this place! I haven’t been to the new location, can’t wait to check it out when I’m back in the area. The service is so friendly and nice, and they have no problem accommodating whatever you want. My husband and I would order off the menu all the time, based on whatever we were in the mood for, they would do, and it was delicious. We never felt rushed and you cannot beat the homemade pasta. I never had something there I didn’t like. and. its BYOB! Can it get any better???

One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Lovely atmosphere, service is phenomenal, friendly staff and the food is flawless. The prices are very fair as well. Would recommend this place anywhere from a first date to a family dinner or celebration. You have to try this place at least once. You won’t regret it.
Owner Giovanni is also a very nice down to earth fella.

We waited way past our reservation time (as everyone says) but when we say down the service and food was impeccable. It’s a pricey place meant to sit back and enjoy so we weren’t upset to wait and they even let is start our wine.
We shared stuffed mushrooms and spedino that were so rich and wonderful. Both of is went for seafood specials that did not disappoint. The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauces were complimentary instead of soupy or overwhelming.
Loved everything and will definitely be back!

Dined at San Remo tonight for the first time. Based on other reviews, this is a new location. There are two main dining rooms, one downstairs and one on the second floor. Both dining rooms were crowded and noisy. The floors are tile, so there is nothing to absorb the sound. A lot of people complained to the hostess about the noise level, especially upstairs. I thought it was tolerable, not that bad if you have a later reservation as the dining room was not filled to capacity as it got late past 8:30 pm. We had reservations for 8:15 but did not get seated until 8:35. The hostess sat other people that arrived after us before she sat us, which kinda aggregated me. The hostesses were really clueless.
After we sat down, it took the server 15 minutes to take our order and then another 45 minutes for our app to arrive. Overall, food was very good. The antipasto for two was plentiful and the pasta dishes were prepared to perfection. Our server Vivian was pleasant and treated us really well. I’ll give them another try because the food and service in the end were very good, but they need to get a better handle of not overbooking and making sure the food comes out at a more reasonable pace.
