Jersey Mike’s Subs

It’s a very consistent good sub. Many different subs to choose from and very clean. It’s my daughter’s favorite food.

Needs improvement. This store desperately needs training from the management of the Middletown store.
There are a couple decent employees here, but there are a few who are very bad. One employee asked what I wanted on my sub, then I had to repeat myself several times as they were dressing my sub. The employee didn’t even seen to know what «mikes way» was. I’ve had the oil/​vinegar bath here too as another reviewer commented about.
No one is very friendly. Not necessarily discourteous, but they act more like you are inconveniencing them rather than they are trying to earn tips. No one seems in charge. I’m sure there is a «shift leader «at all times, but no real presence of management or leadership, unlike the other jersey mikes stores in the area.
The food quality is usually okay but I’ve gotten stale bread and crappy lettuce from here more frequently than with the other stores.
The cleanliness and sanitary practices of the staff is questionable. The food handlers are CONSTANTLY wiping their hands on their aprons. This is a big no no in food handling for sanitary reasons, and its certainly unappetizing. For this reason alone, I do not like to eat here. I will purposely go 5 miles out of my way to eat at the Middletown store instead.
Another thing I will point out is that this store is never that busy. Even around lunch time. Given this location, this place should be jammed! The Middletown store has a line out the door at lunch time and the location isn’t nearly as good. That tells you something right there. My prediction is this store will close as sales aren’t going to be able to sustain what the rent must cost. This is a large store.
Now I realize that the older stores like Middletown may be privately owned and managed, and this Red Bank location is corporate, but I recently visited the new Holmdel store which I assume is also corporate and it was top notch. This store needs a follow up with corporate management asap.

Wow. What a disappointment considering they were in the running for best sub shop in south jersey. Would not come back again. No wow factor. Sad cause I had high hopes. I had the famous mikes cheese streak. Nothing famous about it. The only memory I will have of this sub is pure disappointment.

I like the Jersey Mike’s Sub shops in the area, but I won’t go back to this one. I went three times, and each time it was worse than the last. The first time I went with a friend, but they put so much oil and vinegar on our subs that it was rendered almost inedible, and I love oil/​vinegar; it was really egregious. I decided to give it a second chance, so I went back with my brother. They did another oil bath (I think it’s their training or something), and then the cashier made a homophobic comment about us ordering 1 sub for 2 men (we’re brothers…). The third and final time I was in a hurry and decided to grab a quick sub despite my misgivings about the place. The guy slicing the meat cut his finger open on the meat slicer (ouch) and then continued to slice my sub’s meat with blood dripping down his hand. That was it for me, never again.
The other Jersey Mikes in the area are great though. Clean, friendly, and they make delicious subs. The one in Shrewsbury is my favorite. I just wouldn’t go back to the one in Red Bank.

We’ve ordered take-​out cold subs twice and we loved it both times, and we will definitely return. The restaurant is very clean in both the dining area and at the counter, and I wouldn’t hesitate to eat on site. The menu board is very easy to read (large print) and despite a good amount of foot traffic, the staff keeps the line moving. The sandwich makers are all very friendly and they are well trained. The food is very fresh, including the bread for the subs, the roast beef, and the tuna. The restaurant is well stocked with a large variety of chips. The chocolate chip cookies are also very fresh and they taste excellent. Parking is very convenient.
