Great BYOB and perfect location a must go to in Red Bank, only downside too many tables for the space but if you like cozy dining I’d give it 5 stars

Incredible experience, food was excellent. Service was great and it’s byob so it’s easy on your wallet. Wine and liquor store is literally two steps next door. Definitely 5 stars, will definitely be coming back!

This past Wednesday night we arrived as a party of 2 for Dinner at approximately 8.20 pm. We entered the restaurant and noticed that it was only a quarter full. There was only one waitress present dealing with a table where there appeared to be some sort of issue. We waited at the front desk for 5 minutes when finally a gentlemen appeared from the back. We received no welcome or apology for the delay except for the following remark: ‘You need to know… The kitchen is closing shortly.’ We thanked the person and said that clearly Dish didn’t want/need our business and walked out. We ate a block away. Just another sad Red Bank restaurant story.

Came here for some kind of prefixe during the week. Not sure if they still do it, as I don’t see it on their website, but it was awesome. My husband and I started with the mussels and flash fried spinach and got the pork chop and salmon. Everything was awesome and the portions were very large. I don’t usually like mussels, but I liked these ! The bread pudding was the best thing I’ve ever had. It so sweet, buttery, and not too mushy like bread pudding tends to be.

Enjoyable,(if not too especially special(I’m sticking with that phraseology.)), very attractively lit, and worth a visit. Maybe deserves more than three stars but giving it four would put it in a ratings league with my absolute favorite places so my three are likely someone else’s four. Which means my fours are kinda like other people’s fives and well, you get it… Half star options would help, Unilocal*(Please see my children’s books on Amazon…). Refocusing, seating is super tight(Let’s hope you like your neighbors… and that their politics or tastes in movies or what have you don’t offend you…). So much so that I very seriously recall at times literally(literally«literally;» not the inane new allowable dictionary definition) not being able to understand my dining companion when she spoke for the noise level. Now if «enjoyable» and«worth a visit» aren’t specific enough to be motivational, if you’ve never had it before, go to try the flash fried spinach appetizer, as enjoyably weird a dish(I see it…) as I’ve had in a long time(Yeah, okay, it’s pretty much still just spinach but I’m vegetarian and maybe don’t get out as much as I should…). Anyway, to give a sense, It’s kinda like what kids would get at a cotton candy stand in hell. Or maybe the Northwest. But for adults, it’s a fun, if slight bit of experimentation.

This is the third time I had been to Dish. I enjoyed it the first time, but it has been lacking the last two visits. It started with stale bread and dirty wine glasses. When I asked for new glasses, they too, were dirty. My dinner, a special with pappardelle pasta and chicken was underwhelming. The only good part of the meal was my husband’s short ribs. Despite the glasses, the service was pleasant. However, I don’t think I will be returning to Dish.

Our first meal here was so exceptional that if they we willing to move closer to us, I would help them pack. The flash fried spinach; calamari, foccacia, steak au poivre and sesame tuna were all excellent. The place is small and cute and the staff is very attentive. It is BYO with liquor store(and a parking lot) on the next block. Portions are large and prices are quite reasonable for the quality. We hope the nerby Count Basie and Two Rivers theaters have good offerings, so we can come here often despite the distance.

I went with a group of people, so we were able to share a few plates before our entrees — they were all good, but most noticeable of all were the sweet potato spring rolls. Warm sweet potato wrapped around a crispy dough with a mild chili dipping sauce? Yes, please. I had some hesitation ordering the stout short ribs over sweet mashed potatoes. After all, short ribs tend to be the same thing — tender heavy meat over potatoes. It’s usually the same gravy-like profile. Let me be pleased to say I was completely thrown off by the immense flavor of the short ribs. Combined with the sweet mashed potatoes, ribbons of raw carrots and a few green beans, the whole dish was outrageous. Many others got the New York strip with fries — also perfectly cooked and the fries were right on point. This is one of the better restaurants of Red Bank, especially for a nicer dinner for a good occasion. It’s on the pricier side, but the food is incredible, plus BYO helps with the overall bill. (I went on a Thursday night, where the restaurant was mostly full and I didn’t think it was too loud.)

Have gone to this small Red Bank a number of times. Food is mostly good. Service can be spotty and slow. Salads are large enough for 2 but pricey. If we knew we would have shared salads. Shrimp with Tasso ham grits had no trace of ham or flavor. It came with three shrimp $ 15. Mains: double cut pork chop was thick and delicious with maple glaze and mashed sweet potatoes. Gnocchi with seafood was reported to be good. As well as the crusted tuna with a spicy wasabi sauce. Whole Bronzino was cooked perfectly and was a special for $ 34. Again no prices were given when specials were recited. BYOB. Tables were tight and can get noisy.

Last two times we have been to Dish, it has fallen really short. Last night, we split a burratta with yellow and red heirloom tomatoes. The tomatoes were really thin and the burratta wasn’t creamy or the typical texture. Kind of like a regular ball of mozzarella. My fiancé got the special pastas which was a homemade gnocchi with shrimp in a pesto sauce. That was solid and very good. I went with white linguine and clams which I have had several times there. First is come out soupy and literally had no flavor. It was like buttered pasta. I sent it back and they apologized profusely and sent out another freshly cooked. This one was covered in cheese and the sauce was gross. I left hungry, annoyed, and set back $ 25 for a pasta I didn’t touch. Something has changed recently as this isn’t the first time we were disappointed. The chef wasn’t there last night and that may have had something to do with it.

I meet some friends for dinner. I wanted to like this place cause one friend really loves it. Its difficult because it was LOUD and caotic. It was packed, made it difficult to have conversations. Couldn’t hear the specials from the waitress. They should just print the specials of the day, make it easy for staff and dinners. The beet avacado salad was great & ample portion. Entrée options were not to my liking. Nothing much for vegetarians but penne vodka which is rather common. Dessert was great. BYOB is nice & contributes to the popularity. Unfortunately for me, it wasn’t a nice experience and it ain’t cheap!

Still one of my favorite places in the Red Bank area! First off its a BYO, which is great. There’s a liquor store across the street that has decent prices for a small shop and a good selection. It’s a small restaurant, so we were expecting to wait, even though we had a reservation. That’s one of the good/bad consequences of Opentable. It’s good in that you’ll get a table in a certain time period, but bad in that isn’t always at your reserved times; especially at small restaurants. It was hot & muggy out, so we waited inside. While waiting the host offered to open up our bottle of wine, which is something Idont often see at busy byob places. After we sat, Dish reaffirmed out opinion as one of the best restaurants in the area. The olive oil & focaccia at the table was great. our servers knowledge of the specials was really good and convinced us to order the burrata special with heirloom tomatoes… sweet baby j was it good! Our other app was the mussels, which for the price are a steal! Served in a garlicy red sauce with pieces of chorizo in it, they’re on point! our entrée’s were once again out of this world. Even though it’s not necessarily short rib weather right now, I can resist the short ribs here — theyre that good! Fork tender, sweet, flavorful bites of wonderfulness! The Steak au Povire was also a treat. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and seasoned wonderfully! We split a carmel brownie with gelato for dessert and it didn’t disappoint! The chef/owner Anthony makes all the dessert and it shows. Another great meal at Dish, that already has us planning our next visit soon!

The 1 star is mandatory since I cannot give them a goose egg. We came to this restaurant via word of mouth. We love red bank and all the small eateries it provides. It gives you that beachy, comfy, city life, laid back atmosphere all at once. Unfortunately Dish did not leave a good taste in my mouth. Food: OK at best. You come for the atmosphere and not the food. Trys to be a Michillen restaurant in its flair, but falls short. Just because it looks pretty doesn’t mean it taste delicious. Mediocre to say the least. Vibe: Very cozy at first. But towards the end of the night, past 9, I’m yelling to have face to face conversation. You can’t control other people but a late dinner for some romance, not so much. And there is no circulation in the room. I’m fit and I run and I workout, but I never get that sweaty like I did over there. And it was a warm nice night. Can’t imagine eating there on a Jersey humid night. Customer Service: Terrible with a capital Trash. Food is OK like I mentioned, if you are willing to wait 45 minutes to an hour for your food. And I hate it when they do not serve you and your partner/friends meal at once. 5 minute wait for my fiancé food after I get mine is ridiculous. The vibe is cozy if you can actually get your seat. We made reservations on the weekend just to be on the safe side and apparently that don’t mean squat to them. And when you apologize, apologize for your inconvenience and not because other people are eating and«taking your seats». In the end, in Red Bank, there a far better places than Dish. In other words, Dish is over priced and apparently money can’t buy you manners either.

Dish is a gem –storefront eatry –noisy –but food is delicious. The short ribs were mouthwatering– my husband had a special –Parpadelle with shrimp and spinach, cooked perfectly. Bread pudding, their signature dessert was a little rubbery(like it was microwaved) but otherwise delicious. We will definitely come back.

The bread in the beginning of the meal was crisp and decently flavored but very cold. I liked the olive medley/olive oil it came with. However, the bread had a piece of waxy /rubbery paper in it where I happened to take a bite. I informed the server and she took the bread away but didn’t inform anyone about the incident(management or kitchen to check the rest of the bread) and never bothered to bring me a fresh basket. I asked for some. She brought out what was described as a new batch that was just freshly baked. This one was nice and toasty. Rosemary went nicely with the olive oil. Much better than the first one. But anyway, why did I have to ask for another basket? And why did that have to take another 10 – 15 minutes? She kept avoiding coming back to my table after the wax paper thing… Talk about a terrible first impression. I almost refrained from ordering and walked out, but decided to stay and give the place a chance. The server was friendly enough. I didn’t catch her name because she didn’t give it. She was fumbling around trying to remember the specials– which makes me think she is a new employee because most of the specials at this place are part of the regular menu. However, later I heard her tell a table nearby that she has been working at this place for three years… Wow. She briefly mentioned a prix-fixe menu but did not go into detail so I did not order it. After I ordered my entrée, I heard her inform a table about their prix fixe menu in detail and that had me regretting not ordering it. Inconsistent service. Upon inquiry, I was informed that the portions are pretty large so I decided not to order the fried calamari as my starter. Also, the paper incident left me with a bad taste in my mouth. For my entrée, I ordered the braised short rib. It is marinated in Guinness for half the day, along with carrots, celery, garlic, and onions. Comes with a side of seasonal veggies and sits atop maple mashed sweet potatoes. I opted to go with a side of broccoli rabe instead of the mashed sweet potatoes. When my entrée came out, I never got the side of seasonal veggies. Maybe the server misunderstood and subbed all of the sides for the broccoli rabe? Idk. The short ribs were well flavored and juicy with great marblization and very tender. A little sweet for my taste but still good. The broccoli rabe was noticeably not fresh. I could not cut into it with my knife though it was thoroughly cooked. It was rubbery and tough to chew. I got their signature bread pudding for dessert, prepared with a croissant, topped with vanilla gelato and a caramel drizzle on top. After the rave reviews, I was expecting much more than what I ended up with. Main entrée was good. Everything else(sides, bread, dessert, service) ranged from okay to terrible. Just my entrée I’d give a 3.5 but overall, 2 stars.

The food was fantastic and the wait service was fine. However, we had to wait 45 minutes past our reservation time to be seated for our party of six. The first 15 – 20 minutes were spent waiting outside in 20 degree weather because there wasn’t enough space inside. When we finally got inside, we were told that we couldn’t be seated until a part of two got up, and then that table would ever combined with an empty four top. The hostess even preceded to point out the party of two that was holding us up. About 35 minutes into our wait(past our reservation time), we inquired about combining a table of two and a table of four on the other side of the restaurant instead of waiting for the party of two who spent 45 minutes over dessert. We were told this was impossible but not given any reason as to why. Keep in mind, that at this point, nobody else was waiting for a table. We were never offered wine glasses or to have our battle of wine opened during our wait. We weren’t offered water or seats(even though we had a very pregnant woman in our party). Needless to say, after waiting over 45 minutes past the time we reserved, we were finally sat with no apologies from the hostess. Nor did she follow up with our party to inquire about our meal. The food and wait service were great, but I don’t think I’d go back due to the terrible hostess service.

This place is a hidden gem, the food exceeded my expectations. I came here for an anniversary dinner with my beau, we shared beef stout ribs, bread pudding and pei mussels. Service was great, Amanda checked up on us constantly and gave us great recommendations. Portions are pretty big, you can easily share between two people per dish. The mussels were very flavorful with the sauce, incredibly fresh all the meat was intact in the shells, I’ve never seen this at any restaurant. The best dish was the braised stout short ribs, they were BOMBDIGGITY! The sauce was incredible and the sweet potato blended perfectly with the beef. The beef was so tender it almost melts in your mouth. Every bite we took we were like wow this is amazing. Just when we thought our night couldn’t get better Amanda tells us about their signature bread pudding, they use croissant bread to make it. We couldn’t resist so we had it, once again our taste buds were blown away. The bread was so soft and not overly sweet, the ice cream complimented it really well. This is definitely my favorite restaurant in jersey, they offer 5 star quality food for 2 star prices, our entire bill was only 50 bucks! I highly recommend this place for everyone(maybe not for children under 12 since it was a quiet setting)
