Greater Boston Chimney Sweeps

Like Von D, I called GBCS after having first called American Chimney Sweeps in Peabody. I was having a problem with birds nesting in my gas fireplace vent each spring which required me to completely disassemble the vent each fall before I could use my fireplace. Unsanitary and a complete pain. I called American Chimney Sweeps who told me they would find me something called a «bird shroud» to install in my vent. Their tech came back a couple of weeks later with a part that clearly was not going to prevent the birds from getting in my flue. Additionally, he could not figure out how to assemble and install it even if it would have worked. He left saying he would continue to look for something that would work. Needless to say, I never heard back from him. Calls to their offices asking for a status were never returned.
Decided to try GBCS today. Their tech Tim came out promptly. He looked over the situation and came up with an on-​site solution to modify my current vent with stock materials he had in his truck and solved the problem in no time. I got up on the ladder and looked over what he had done and I am pretty confident that I’ll never need to clean out another birds nest in that vent. Good guy, Tim! I wished I’d have called you a long time ago. Thank you!

Called GBCS after a blunder with American chimney pros (they were our first sweeps, and the worse contractors ever). GBCS found a blockage that our first sweeps caused when they rebuilt our chimney. They left fallen cement and brick in the thistle part of the chimney. Hence, the boiler fires the past two seasons. Greater boston chimney sweeps were FAST, Professional and very affordable for all the services we recieved. I highly recommend them.
