Been a customer since they opened. Excellent food. Small intimate venue. Their food always fresh and hot. Same family ownership since day one.

Super fast and friendly service. Food is good and fresh. I do take out here a lot. Love the basil pad Thai. Nice local family owned place. This is the closest Thai restaurant to me, I prefer Red Sugar(not open until dinner)

A good local downtown Reading restaurant that seems to have survived all the rough times. I usually like to stop in here for an occasional lunch. Most of the time it’s good, but every now and then It seems that the meat they are serving seems to be tougher than what I would like. A good lunch time deal providing do not have high expectations. Quick in and out usually pretty reliable.

It may not be the best thai food you have ever had, but it is consistently tasty. It’s convenient to us, and when we don’t feel like cooking we know we can count on their massiman curry dishes or the Pad Thai. It’s also been a reliable place to get decent meals in a town that for a long time offered few dining choices beyond pizza.

This is a decent Thai restaurant. Service is pleasant and prompt. The food was ok – nothing particularly notable. We tried the Tom Yum soup, which had some decent flavoring. The pineapple fried rice, recommended to us by a regular, was somewhat flavorless. The ingredients sounded good, but there just wasn’t much flavor. We also ordered a traditional Thai curry and the flavor was disappointing. The pricing is decent and cleanliness was fair(the plates initially waiting for us on our table were dirty and had to be replaced when we pointed it out). This seems to be predominantly a takeout restaurant and the ambiance is very casual. Overall, decent yet unremarkable and not memorable.

Its a small Thai restaurant with good food. Its 5 mins from my work and I have done take out for lunch from here a couple of times. Its a small place and not a very good one to sit there and eat(at least) for me. Its not very expensive and the food is worth its price. I have tried Panang curry and bamboo basil both with chicken. Bamboo basil is nice and spicy. Overall its a nice place for lunch takeout! For sitting and eating there I would give 3 stars.

The food here is slightly above average. It has the typical suburban Thai menu, but with lots of flexibility. The sauces are used delicately, which is why I say it is slightly above average. The restaurant lost two stars because the cleanliness standards have me worried. When we sat down, we had the large decorative plate with the smaller plate for appetizers set inside. We had been there for a while. I had clearly touched my plates. But, we did not order appetizers. I noticed that the waitress returned both plates to the clean plate stack and then put them on other tables. I also noticed that unused wine glasses were returned to the unused glasses section.(Perhaps not as terrible.) Maybe this is a common practice and I don’t see it at other places. But, I don’t like the idea of plates that other people have handled without washing their hands. The service was generally poor. Food was brought out when it was convenient, even if some people did not have dishes ready. We were never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert. We won’t be coming back.

Excellent value. The meals were delicious and inexpensive. Average meal ranges from $ 8.95-$ 10.95. I would highly recommend it. Also check out events at Papplemouse — we went on a free craft beer tasting night and then had dinner here. Perfect inexpensive night out!

We recently visited this restaurant and had high hopes for it. The Thai rolls were crispy and delicious, and the chicken satay my son ordered was good as well. I ordered the pad Thai. It was rather bland. I’m used to spicy pad Thai with a strong peanut flavor and this was not it. My husband asked for pad Thai made with pork and extra spicy. It was just mildly spicy and just okay. Overall their food was just average and nothing to write home about.

A lot of food for the price. Friendly staff. Very good food and menu. The atmosphere is ok but the food makes up for it

The only thing I’m disappointed about is that I lived in Reading for so long and never came here! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. We had the pad thai, red curry with beef, and pineapple fried rice and loved it all. The owner was even nice enough to poke his head out of the kitchen before we left to ask how everything was. Will definitely be back.

Nice small restaurant and helpful, friendly staff. The food was freshly prepared and presentation was nice. The only reason for the two stars was because the taste of the food lacked of Thai herbs and spices. My dish was prepared spicy as I requested, but something was just missing in the taste itself that you get when in Thailand and eating the same. I had the fried Thai basil dish with pork, but to me that special taste it should have with Thai basil was lacking. The other peoples dishes who ate with me also seemed to lack in quantity the meat or seafood that was requested. The dishes were very colorful, but the bulk of the dish is vegan. Sure it’s probably more healthy for you, but I like balance. It’s hard to find authentic tasting Thai food outside of Thailand and this restaurant has a lot of potential if they would just add more authentic Thai herbs and spices as well as meat or seafood that is requested. Will mean a cost increase I know, but it will also give people a better Thai food experience. Thai food is a lot more than spicy hot or Pad Thai. :)

For East Coast Thai this is as good as it gets. I don’t do Pad Thai, but I have had a bunch of dishes here and every one of them was great. I was thinking I might subtract one star because the restaurant is a bit small for sit-down. You kind of feel like you’re eating in a take-out restaurant. But I won’t because the service was notably personable and friendly. Stuck in Reading for dinner? Well the restaurant scene is pretty dismal here, but here is a way to save evening.

This is one of those restaurants that you find out about via word of mouth. It’s very small, not on a main street, and mostly locals go here. There are lots of thai restaurants in this area, and I will say that this one is the best I have been to. The food is fresh, not overly greasy, and very delicious. Lots to choose from on the menu, and they also serve beer and wine. It is VERY affordable here, which is great :)

I am a self admitted Thai food snob. I went here with high expectations. After reading the reviews of Basil Pad Thai– I had to try it, along with the silver soup. belch. The soup was basically flavored with soy sauce. Dishwater soy sauce & the pad thai– I only ate it because I was starving. If you can’t do Thai food well, please don’t do it! And it also kind of smelled like old dish towels. Not a horrific scent but not pleasant. Nice folks though, I wish them well.

Thai food is my favorite of all the foods, and Bangkok Spice is the reason why. It’s the most delicious, light, flavorful, consistent Thai food I’ve ever had. I could eat the silver noodle soup and pad thai every day forever… with Thai iced tea. Try it, you’ll be so happy you did.

This was my favorite place to go to at my old work in Woburn. Yes, I’d drive 15 mins just to get here in Reading. It’s a true mom & pop place ran by a newly wed couple(I guess not mom & pop yet). You cannot find a better Pad Thai for $ 7 – 8. They are ALWAYS freshly stir-fried yielding a hot plate of chewy noodles with jumbo tiger shrimps and tender chicken slices. Pad Thai is so ‘easy’ to make yet so many places mess it up. I’ve had bad ones in Boston– the noodles are overcooked dead & flat and they either give shrimp OR chicken, not both. And the size of shrimp is not the big quality ones you see in Bangkok Spice. I also miss their complementary ginger chicken noodle soup and a super hot and crispy small egg roll that came with any entrée. The lady would always give me a big serving bowl of extra peanuts and hot sauce. The husband would always peek out from his busy chicken and shout hello to me. This is what a restaurant should be, a perfection all around.
