Rte. 44 Toyota… BEWARE. They stuck me with a LEMON. and they well knew it. a Scion TC. TC. I had put 3000 miles on and it needed a new Transmission. They had the car for 6 days. When I got the car back… It was exactly the same way as it was when I brought it in. You had to let the car warm up, for about 15 minutes before it would shift into 2^nd gear. Every time you turned around in was in for service. A friend of mine went there, to buy a car. (the same guy that sold me mine) he mention the trouble I was having, He said «yeah that car was a LEMON «I wouldn’t buy a roll of toilet paper from Rte 44 Toyota. So if you’re considering buying a vehicle from there «WATCH YOUR BUTT » Randy C.

DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS PLACE!!!
They will try to sucker you into a «deal» that is so much more than the asking price, this does not include sales tax or warrenty. Do not get fooled! Also, the vehicle I test drive didn’t have all the components working and was told differently. Funny how I test drive another toyota tacoma at another dealership and everything worked fine, had less miles, and was $ 4000 less than 44’s ticket price. Go to copeland toyota in Brockton or Bournes in Easton instead

Completely dissatisfied. Should have read these reviews before I went even though I had a «friend» getting me a «good deal.» If you do go check every feature on the car because they’ll tell you it has features it doesn’t. And with numbers you better be on your game! I signed papers on the 1^st with a payoff of my previous vehicle being set. I called to tell my salesperson I couldn’t stop the auto pay that came out in the first and how did I get refunded for that payment? He said any overpayment would be sent back to me. So I picked up the car on the 4^th and they changed paperwork to that day after they got an updated payoff figure THAT INCLUDED THE PAYMENT I WAS SUPPOSED TO GET REFUNDED!
So there’s ANOTHER $ 321 I put into the deal unsuspectingly! He said «only the date changed» so I signed it like an idiot. I only found this out when I called toyota to find out about the refund… and that there was none!
They are snakes, all of them. I won’t be back and I will be very vocal about warning people to stay away.
I am filing a deceptive practices complaint with the BBB and attorney general– anyone want to join contact me.

I still feel nauseous about the entire experience… to say I was being duped and they were playing a numbers game is an understatement. I was mentally warn down and defeated and it’s my own fault for not reading more into the paper work.
LUCKILY — my sales guy made us wait over 2 hours before he showed up to go to the DMV to register the vehicle— so we had time to review all the documents in more detail without being pressured by finance. We canceled the entire deal and got our down payment back. I still feel sick when I think about what they tried to pull over on me…
It’s too long of a story but feel free to ask and I will tell you every awful detail.
But please, save yourself the trouble and don’t even bother going here!

This place sucks I wish I could leave 0 stars they screwed me on the sale which I should have paid better attention so that’s my fault but you definitely can not trust them. then my wife has the car serviced by them. 32.00 to install a cabin air cleaner. What a joke. Frigging losers that takes all of 2 min if that to do. It should of been part of the service. I guess I’m not the only person they have pissed off. STAY AWAY

First, the «sales guy» at this dealership was an 18 year old kid who would annoyingly apologize to me every 3^rd sentence because he was new… after agreeing to buy the truck I was looking at, I waited for 3 days before getting a call from the saleskid, who tells me that my application accidentally got «shredded» and he would need my info again. 4 more days go by, still no word on whether this deal was approved. Finally tell them if I don’t have an answer by the end of the day, shred my application (Again !) When they finally do call me, they quote me a price that would have me paying over 48k for a truck that was priced at 22k — actually, the price would have been 19k since they also wanted me to put 3k down. Are people actually stupid enough to accept a deal like that ?? I told them that unless they could honor the original terms we discussed, I wasn’t interested. Never heard back from them again

I came here just after coming from the Subaru dealership down the road with intentions of getting my car appraised and to talk about some numbers to see if I wanted to lease a new corolla. The salesman I dealt with was nice and took me for a test ride, I liked the car and was sat down to talk numbers, got my car appraised and everything was going good. We got to a number that I thought was okay with but I had stressed that I wasn’t really into buying anything today, I had to wait till the end of the week to see where I was at with a current job offer.
I had to run back home for something (I live local) and came back to the dealership to talk about another offer that they said they were working on. After sitting down with the salesman I informed him that I just wasn’t ready to make a decision today and told him I was ready to leave but he had stressed to me that if he just let me go he would get in trouble so I decided to stay so nobody gets «in trouble» and talk to his manager (which I was told was going to be no more then 30 seconds).
Sean McCarey came out and wanted me to tell him why I wasn’t ready to make a decision and I said I just wasn’t comfortable and would get back to them at the end of the week. He was upset about that and couldn’t accept my answer and wanted to know what number we could agree too but I did not want to settle on anything today and said I’d be able to give an answer later in the week (I had to say this about 3 or 4 more times).
He then started telling me how they’re not here to pay their salesman to negotiate for «4 hours», I was only there for about 1.5 hours total, he then said how his manager was going to be upset that he didn’t get a deal done. I shopped around at Mastria VW & Subaru and didn’t do anything different at those dealerships and they had no problem with me not making a decision.
After unwillingly sitting through this pissing match I was having with Sean McCarey about why I want to hold off till the end of the week, he told me he was going to get his manager to sit down with me and thats when I told him I’m leaving. He said no just sit right there as if I was being detained, I got up and left the place and within 5 minutes I received a phone call from the salesman who apologized for what happened and that he was embarrassed by the way his manager, Sean McCarey, had acted. If he was truly embarrassed, he should leave this dealership because it’s an absolute joke and really helps feed into the slimy stereotype that dealerships hold.
If you believe you have the right as a consumer to shop around, do not come here. That does not sit well with upper management.
I will not be buying anything from these guys and advise anybody reading this to do the same. There are other places out there that practice better customer service and treat you as a person and not just a sale.

I called Route 44 Toyota about 5 months ago to ask what kind of deals they had going on for leases. The guy I spoke with skimmed over what sales they were having and then asked what car I was driving at the time (a PT Cruiser), and then started trying to sell me the same car over the phone! I explained to him that I wanted nothing to do with Chrysler (my PT Cruiser was an absolute nightmare), and then he tried to get me to make an appointment. I told him I had work all day the next day and wouldn’t be able to come in, and then he said I should come in and be late for work because a bad storm was coming and people get great deals when the weather’s bad. I told him I wasn’t going to be late for work to look at a car, and he STILL kept trying to get me to make an appointment. He eventually gave up and gave me his number (which I didn’t write down).
The next day I get out of work and I have two missed calls and a voicemail on my phone from this dealership asking if I’d like to reschedule my appointment that I missed that morning. Are you KIDDING me??? I ignored them and ended up getting a great deal on a car from a family member who works at Clay Hundai up in Norwood.
I thought everything would be all said and done after I ignored their calls, but even to this day I STILL get phone calls from the dealership (but no more voicemails) even though I’ve told them several times that I don’t need a car any more. I think that after 5 months of harassing someone they’d let it go? I guess not. There were some days they’d call 5 times and leave 3 voicemails (I wish I was kidding).
Unless you want to be harassed for months on end, DO NOT contact this dealership!

We bought a Toyota from this dealership in 2010. It was the typical car dealership obnoxiousness. «No, we don’t want to lease. Yes, I have a basic grasp of math and know that what you’re trying to sell me on sucks. I will pay X or walk out the door.» Walked out door. Got a call on cell, went back and paid X.
We recently had an issue where our driver side window mechanism and/​or the things that hold it in place broke. The window didn’t raise/​lower properly and was just floating. Took it to the dealership. $ 700 something. Okay. While the vehicle was there, they noted that the brakes needed to be done. This was not a surprise since, although they were functioning fine from our perspective, this had been noted at the last oil change at Midas. Asked how much. $ 1200-​something. Called Midas. $ 300 – 400 less. Told Route 44 not to touch the brakes.
My husband picked up the vehicle after the window repair. Brakes were grinding and squealing like they’d been tampered with and weren’t working properly. Now, there’s no argument that they were due for replacement, but they were NOT making any noises when we dropped the vehicle off, and they were functioning to a minimum standard.
It seems pretty obvious that they messed with our brakes after we decided not to have them do the replacement work. Seriously screwed up, not to mention DANGEROUS! I can’t prove it because we took the car to Midas immediately and had the brakes replaced.

I posted before and I got removed, I guess I’m too honest about my experience and expectations as a car buyer. Point is, there is no sincerity or open honest communication up front from some of the individuals that works at this location. I would buy an used beat up car before stopping at this place. Hopefully when these individuals read tgis won’t call to get it removed… just deal with the reality and adjust behaviors.

Typical car dealership. Everyone’s friendly pre-​sale, but after the same — forget about it! Finance guy then tried to sell all the warranties and slipped in some extra options in the middle of the warranty talk. Kept on having to go back because the bank that they originally got at closing backed out. Then they needed more references. Sales weasel wasn’t communicating with finance, never call back when they say they will. Then they say that a photo copy of a drivers license is too dark, blah blah blah.
I don’t know why all dealerships follow the same business model when it’s so flawed!

I bought two cars in 30 days, primarily because they are the closest dealer to me. The first transaction wasn’t terrible, but the dealer had my wife go back 3 times for different things owed to us. The first alarm that we bought as an add on was the wrong one we spec’d…had to go back. Reg and inspection showed up late… had to go back to get them done. The second car was another issue altogether. It took 5 hours, end to end from the moment I walked in to rolling out. Why? The sale guy was new, but he was decent enough. The usual dickering process, which could just go away altogether! Regardless, the real issues started after I signed on the line.
I asked for an alarm system, a trailer hitch and a aftermarket DVD (headrest.) I overpaid for these, based on what Toyota’s corporate custom build-​your-​car options indicated. I knew this when I ordered the extras. Made an appointment to have the extra stuff done, and showed up right on time. They told me to come back at 5, as my car would be all ready then. At 4:30 I called service. No answer. I 5:30 I called and left a message. No returned call. Two days later I get my car back… It was a mess inside. The installers didn’t bother cleaning up after they got done. Also, still no registration or inspection sticker. I called my guys again… it’s in the mail. Showed up 3 days after my 7 day grace period ended. Unfortunately, still no inspection sticker (which I paid for in my fees.) So… I will never buy another car from these guys again. There are MANY other dealerships, so learn from my experience and find a 5 star dealer.
Just figured I’d add that these guys charged me for an inspection sticker, but never gave me one. So I had to get my own. Think they would have at least reimbursed me. Guess not. Follow-​up and details… I bought two cars from Herb Chambers… that was a class act. If they weren’t so far away!

Here is my story. I need to tell you that we were working off a quote from Route 44 Toyota/​Scion for a brand new Toyota Highlander. This was a unique car, not many around and I had narrowed down my search to three dealers.
Route 44 had the best quote ($ 39,200 vs $ 40,800 for the nearest competitor). I gave them the verbal and had my family all excited. We have been searching for the new Toyota of our dreams and it was finally happening. I came home, shared the news and then when our contact John finally went out to check on the car, he «discovered» that it was in fact not a new Highlander LTD Platinum but a demo of sorts that already had 6,000+ miles on it.
John’s sales manager failed to tell him this fact while he was negotiating with me over the past few days.
The small fact of the 6,000+ miles was never known to me, and yet there I was thinking this was a viable offer. These cars only have a 36,000 mile warranty and to have 6,000 of that eaten up and not disclosed is just horrible. I even emailed John’s quote to two other dealers and plan on apologizing to each and every one of them letting them know my quote was not a fair offer.
I am in sales for a living and think what was done to me by Route 44 Toyota is a stain on the Toyota brand. Granted, its a tough world out there and stuff like this happens. But I want you and anyone reading this to know this happened.
My experience with Route 44 Toyota has been bad and I do not want this to be a reflection on other Toyota dealers.

Customer service is horrible they give you the run around and promise the world to you as long as you run back there. Stay away, buyer beware don’t buy used cars from them they do NOT check the cars over before they resell them. Also do not bring your car here for service they hide things from you and refuse to explain anything to you. I have talked to all managers there for them to tell me there refusing to fix a wrong that they said was the dealerships fault. I have purchased 2 vehicle from them I guess they saw me coming a mile away! :(

AWFUL. Do NOT buy a PRE OWNED vehicle from this dealership! I bought a used minivan from this dealership approx 5 years ago and have had nothing but problems with it including REPLACING THE ENGINE. What a piece of crap. It disgusts me to even drive by this place anymore…

My wife and I just bought a certified pre owned corolla. After we made the deal they continued to try and up sell us on more options. Then they add a «documentation» fee which is a bunch of b.s. Next they add sales tax on everyrhing including the title fee and the inspection sticker. Buyer beware!!! I hope the rest of the experience goes better.

An excellent all around dealership. Family oriented without the sharks like downtown Boston. Definitely worth the extra travel time for me (coming from the Bean) Ask for Bobby L or Rick C and you’ll get the no nonsense deal. Jim in finance was also wonderful to work with. The GM is top notch and will make sure you leave satisfied. Bought my ’14 Toyota and will be sure to return for my next. Drop my name for the VIP service ;)

I bought my 2011 RAV4 here in December of 2010. Once my free services were over, I have not left this place anything but angry and frustrated. I vowed to never go back here after my last service when I was told it was «disgusting» to not have my filters in the car replaced for the second time since buying the car. However, since they installed the car starter/​alarm in my car, I was forced to bring it back when another Toyota dealer refused to look at it.
The car alarm has a mind of it’s own and randomly beeps or goes off, sometimes WHILE I AM DRIVING. I’ve mentioned this to them before, but no one at the service center was able to look at it because the ONLY guy that can look at this is there Mon-​Fri, 7:30 — 3:00pm. These hours are extremely inconvenient for someone who works in Brookline 7:00 — 4:00pm.
I finally brought the car in to have the alarm/​starter looked at after my car battery died yesterday and AAA had to come out and jump my car. They ran a battery test and said the battery was fine, but had been drained by something, such as a car alarm. Well, after two hours at the dealership this morning, I paid for the replacement of my «junk» battery to find out that once I got to work that they forgot to hook the alarm/​starter back up. Conveniently enough, I can bring it back in without an appointment to have it hooked back up… Mon-​Fri from 7:30 — 3:00pm…

Our experience with this dealership and service center goes back a few years, and I’ve had enough! I had a Toyota Highlander bought and serviced at another dealership the first few years (McGee Toyota Hanover — HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) but then we moved and this dealer/​service center was closer to our home.
The first few services were fine. But it seemed that every time I went in with one problem, I’d end up with another. The straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of service came when I brought in the car in to repair a cup holder, and a plastic ‘baffle’ that repeatedly had been falling off, then would get dragged on the pavement requiring a new piece. (plastic part, metal screws… bad design) I had my newborn daughter with me napping in her carseat, and was assured the repair would not take that long and that I could wait in their comfortable waiting area. Thankfully I fed her before I got there, and brought an extra bottle because I was there for 3 ½ hours (and $$hundreds later for a cup holder and plastic parts). The nice woman waiting next to me had her novel with her, thank goodness, because she was there for 4 hours (waiting on an oil change and interior cleaning). From then on, we took our car to our trusted local mechanic.
The next time we went back was to look at a new car… just to take a quick look at a model of Toyota that we were interested in to replace our existing Highlander. From the second we arrived it was a high pressure sales pitch that resulted in the sales guy needing my driver’s license just so he could get a key to show us the inside of a car… we weren’t even going to test drive it. The sales guy pretty much ignored us, our questions, our timeframe, and knew very little about the things that mattered to us like cargo space… and then would not give me my license back until I came in to talk about a deal. Which really ticked me off and infuriated my husband who told the guy from the get go that we didn’t have a lot of time and just wanted to see the inside of a specific car. We changed our minds on buying a Toyota and bought our new car down the street at the Ford dealership where they listened and treated us like humans not walking wallets.
So now to today… two years later… my husband was in an accident that totaled his truck and borrowed a friend’s car until he could get a new truck. As thanks to our friend he took the car to get detailed, and noticed from the sticker on the windshield it needed an oil change. The car is a Toyota… so he brought it to Route 44 Toyota to get a dealership oil change, Toyota filters and such blah blah… We got a call from the service center saying that the oil pan was leaking so badly that it had corroded the screws and they were not comfortable doing the oil change. They quoted us $ 500 for a new oil pan etc. My husband decided that he would tell his friend about the repair needed, but we would take it to our local mechanic to take a look at it and get a second estimate. He told Route 44 not to do the oil change or the oil pan work and he would pick the car up. When we arrived to pick up the car, they had gone ahead and done the oil change that ‘couldn’t be done.’ Of course, charging us for the oil change+ labor, diagnostics etc. My husband asked them how they had miraculously changed the oil given the oil pan was in such bad shape and leaking like a sieve and they said they did it very carefully and were ‘able to get it done’.
We drove the car straight to our trusted local mechanic, he took a look at the oil pan, the fittings etc. and called my husband infuriated that we were so badly lied to, there was no leak, and the oil pan was in no way in such disrepair. Our local mechanic could have lied to us too and we would have gladly paid him to fix the oil pan, but he was honest and that is why he will always have our business.
