1st Stop

This little store out in the middle of nowhere (which the locals freely acknowledge) is the BEST convenience store I have EVER been to, anywhere, and I am from Queens, NY so I know my convenience stores!
1^st Stop is a convenience store, AND grocery — including a DELI counter, fresh vegetables and fresh meat — AND gas station, all rolled up in one clean, well stocked, and super friendly package.
You’ve got all your convenience store goodies, hot sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza ready to eat, soda fountain, snacks, coffee, sunglasses, dozens of cold bottled or canned soft drink and beer options, cigarettes, cosmetics, toiletries, home goods, little knickknacks you didn’t know you needed, you know what I mean. But under the same roof, it’s an honest to goodness little grocery store too.
Travelers take note… not only is there a clean public restroom, but they will also cheerfully let you USE THEIR TELEPHONE in this area where there is NO CELL SERVICE. And I mean, cheerfully — not grudgingly, not condescendingly, but in a manner that truly speaks ‘happy to help.‘
If you’re gonna get stuck in the boondocks, this is where you want to get stuck. Trust me on that. If you’re passing through, make this your pit stop. You’ll be glad you did.
