Alliance Emergency Veterinary Clinic

This incident happened in September 2011.
STAY AWAY. I don’t have time to go into the whole story but lets just say Dr. Holland and her staff are liars. My dog was there for several days and was not well taken care of, he had food stuck all in his hair and smelled of urine when I got him back and he was no better then when he got there. She is in it just for the money. I am not one to go out of my way to bash people but my dog almost didn’t walk again because of this place and I would hate for anyone to have to go through what me and my dog went through. Not only did he spend days in the hospital (every time I was suppose to pick him up, they said he needed another day) but he then at another facility had to have an MRI and back surgery which I was promised by the alliance staff he would definitely not need. When i came to them and told them my dog stopped walking abruptly and could not stand on his back legs she should have sent me to a neurologist ASAP, but not having my animals best interest at heart she treated him delaying the tx he really needed by a week. Once I got apache the care he needed I was told by the neurologist that if he was treated right after the incident he would have had a better prognosis. When I called to speak with Dr. Holland and ask her why she didn’t send us to a neurologist I was told lie after lie and every time we talked she changed her story. Please, please, please stay away from this place. If you love your pet take them to a reputable place, because this definitely not.
I took Apache to Fairfield, NJ emergency vet and thanks to his staff he had an MRI and surgery with only a day stay in the hospital, it was a long recovery but with NO THANKS TO ALLIANCE EMERGENCY VET my dog walks again. I wrote this review on another website and still 4 years later feel the need to let people know. Can’t believe they are still in business. Please take your pet some place else for treatment and read all the different reviews on the different websites out there and you will see the poor care provided to others pets too ;(

If I could give zero stars, I would. All of the negative reviews that you will see on this clinic are true. We took our dog here over Memorial day weekend because we thought she might have bloat… Upon arrival, they did one x-​ray telling us that its the «best we could get», suggesting it wasn’t bloat but an internal blockage. The vet then reccomended that we keep her overnight ($ 1700 which included ‘waste removal’ and ‘nursing fee’) and give barium x-​rays. They wanted 75% up front, before they would even come back to look at our dog. When I simply questioned about the fees, they came back with a new fee, and a different recommended procedure! at $ 600, then came back again lower at $ 450.
Aside from the high pressure sales tactics, my gut was telling me that everything else about this place was wrong. The facility was filthy. Dr Holland hid in the back (the place was empty) while I «negotiated» with a tech, and would come out at opportune times to lower the price. All conversations with Dr Holland steered towards our dog ultimately needing surgery. Not once did she ask if our dog had vomited, nor did she perform any type of stomach or pelvic physical examination.
After 3 hours of back and forth, I decided to go with my gut, and took my dog home. Since it was 2 am, I called my regular vet first thing in the morning. She said that the one X-​ray (should be 2) were useless and that there was zero evidence of any type of blockage. She performed a physical examination of the stomach and pelvis (which Dr Holland somehow neglected to do) where she quickly discovered that it wasn’t internal, but rather «swimmer’s tale». Two days later, our dog is doing much better, and we avoided unnecessary surgery and won’t ever have to step foot in that filthy facility again.
I am sure that the people at Alliance probably feel like they «won». They successfully extracted $ 260 from my wallet, and offered the lowest level of service possible.
Stay away from this place. Shame on the people that own this clinic.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS CLINIC! small, dirty old rooms but worse I have years of nursing experience both human & animal and this place is the WORST overcharging vet service I’ve ever seen in over 40 years of knowledge! DON“T GO!!! go to Fairfield vet instead… believe me!!!

Literally one of the best Animal Hospitals I have ever been in. Excellence here compares to Fifth Ave Veterenary Hospital. The kindness and expediency is amazing. The doctors and staff are professional and knowledgable. They are kind and loving with the pet.
Everything you could ask for in Pet ER care.
Except…the doctor mis-​diagnosed my animal.
And she almost died.
For $ 1200, the doctor put her on steroids and antibiotics to pump her up-​but in neglecting to do
X-​rays the doctor missed Pyometra which is an infection of the uterus. Similar to appedicitis it can cause instant death if the uterus ruptures.
When I got my dog home, she remained lethargic so at 7pm –I took her to her regular vet who looked at the bloodwork and discharge and diagnosed Pyometra… and sent me to Emergency Animal Referral Hospital. She had to have an immediate emergency surgery which cost $ 4000 plus recovery days in the hospital.
If Alliance had done the Xray-​My dog could have had surgery in a regular clinic during the day and not been in pain for a whole extra day. Surgery at the vet’s clinic would have been ½ as much $.
I understand that the well meaning Doctor was not trying to miss the Pyometra… I do think that she was remiss in not doing an x-​ray as I told them that the female dog was unaltered and had just been in heat.
So…I think one should stick to the very super professional Emergency Animal And Referral Associates 973−890−4430…

Everyone was wonderful and super nice! I felt very at ease leaving my pet there for 3 nights because she needed to be confined. They told me how much it was going to cost and I said yes to everything because I didn’t want to spare anything when it comes to my pet’s well being. I also have major medical coverage (not just wellness) for my pet which is the responsible thing to do. After that, the staff even recommended what food is best for her (Solid Gold) and she’s doing a lot better than the other brand. Yes, Solid Gold is more expensive but if I don’t eat junk food myself, why should I feed junk food to my dog?
