Specialties
Named as one of the top «50 Clubs with the Best Players» in the United States in the Fall 2008 issue of Golf Digest/Index, The Farms is one of the golf clubs in San Diego that have challenging but fair courses for golfers of all skill levels.
We are a sought-after tournament site where major championships have been played. Our well-designed greens, exciting tee areas and strategic hole locations make stimulating challenges for players who are new to the game as well as those pursuing a professional career in golf. Here, we are all about the game. We are a San Diego golf club and not a country club. The difference lies in the facilities The Farms Golf Club has to offer.
Our members include PGA professionals, aspiring professionals, collegiate athletes and even low index golfers. Some of our most notable members include PGA/LPGA major championship winners Annika Sorenstam, Phil Mickelson, Liselotte Neumann and, of course, Tom Lehman.
History
Established in 1988.
When the members assumed ownership of the Pete, Perry, and Alice Dye golf course and the magnificent clubhouse designed by Robert Altevers, they made a commitment to maintain the course and clubhouse in pristine condition. One of the first initiatives was to improve the playability and quality of the golf course. In 2000, after conducting a nationwide search for an architect, The Farms golf course underwent major renovation under the guidance of architect John Fought and his associate, PGA tour professional Tom Lehman.
In addition to rebuilding a total of twenty-one greens, three of which are for practice, the club added a state-of-the-art irrigation system, created an outstanding practice facility and driving range, moved and rebuilt many tee boxes, added several water features, re-contoured a number of fairways and landscaped nearly thirty-five acres. The end result provides the premier San Diego private golf course experience for members and their guests.
