I always pass by this little stand and always told myself I would stop by and buy some of their chocolate strawberries! I love this little stand, I ended up picking up not only a box of chocolate strawberries but also a Cinnamon pull apart loaf. Delicious, I will be returning!

Oh my GAWD! I’ve finally found the BEST BREAD IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY! I’ve searched, I’ve eaten, I’ve been disappointed. NOT ANYMORE. Last week we had the serious munchies and just stopped in intending to get some fresh local fruit to scarf on the way home… but then we saw it…(the angels singing here ahhhh) FRESH GARLIC BREAD. Oooh, yum, we thought & we bought. We also grabbed some nectarines & some apples.
I snacked on one of the juicy sweet apples, the kind where the apple juice runs down your face. The crispy crunch that only comes from a fresh organic apple. Then I ate a nectarine, the kind of nectarine that you can actually smell the sweetness before you reach into the bin. (a pet peeve of mine) I hate the grocery store fruit, you lean in to smell them and. .. nothing. no aroma, just nothing, just awful. The nectarine was juuuuuicy slurpy sweet.
But then we broke into the GARLIC BREAD. We didn’t expect the whole roasted cloves of garlic though-​out the bread. UNBELIEVABLE! Moist thick sliced beautifully baked garlic flavor… BUT WAIT… it gets better.
The next morning we TOASTED the bread, added a little butter and it transformed into this indescribable crunchy crust. Seriously, it’s really hard to describe how the toaster added this MAGICAL CRUNCH, unlike anything I’ve ever tasted. It’s so sweet, satisfying, & roasty garlicy crunchy heaven. I’ve NEVER tasted anything like it. …and yes I’ve had Dudley’s (even before they sold out & ruined the bread). In fact the demise of Dudley’s Quality is what sent me on my quest for perfect bread.
Our loaf was gone in 3 days. We go over Del Dios Hwy to Encinitas for my Chemotherapy treatments and last week I’m so glad we finally stopped in & again today!
Today we bought the GARLIC CHEESE BREAD & ROSEMARY BREAD. BOTH AWESOME! but I still LOVE the ROASTED GARLIC BREAD as #1 (C’mon WHOLE ROASTED GARLIC CLOVES! YES.), Garlic Cheese #2 (whole roasted garlic), Rosemary Garlic Sourdough. We just now TOASTED UP the GARLIC CHEESE BREAD & Made some Creamy Tomato Pasta sauce with Rigatoni Pasta and… MMMM MM. Delicioso. JUST HAD TO Unilocal about it.
AND… CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES! HOLY &$*@%! Sweet, Juicy, Rich & so good. I’m so happy right now. (I’ve added pictures)
Oh yeah & EGGS! They also carry the Road Island Red Brown Eggs with those deep rich yellow yolks. Yummy.
When I told the proprietor, Robin, how wonderful the fruit and bread was that we picked up last week, he told me that this is his family’s stand which was started in 1980 by his mom & dad and they still own and run it today. I love supporting locally owned family businesses. So… bonus for me.
He also said they are planting Heirloom tomato’s soon too!

Stop by The Lemon Twist today and bought my wife some flowers. This place has not only beautiful fresh flowers but also fresh fruit and veggies! The owner Rob makes you feel very welcomed and shows he really cares about his customers. I will be stopping by next time I’m in the area!

I love this place! It has great seasonal produce and tons of the more «exotic» fruits (dates, percimmions, passion fruit, star fruit, etc.). The owner is really nice and can help with any questions. I believe most (if not all) the produce is organic. They have flowers, baked goods, and some garden stuff too. The produce is mostly local (I do remember getting a young coconut there that was from Thailand once).
As far as cost goes, they’re fairly comparable to grocery stores but the quality is way better. It’s worth the trip if you’re in the area. It is best to go during the week. They run a little low toward the weekend since they’re closed on Monday.
