The Spa at Terranea

Amazing place. Came here with my fiancé for Valentine’s Day spa date and it was just perfect. Long deep tissue massage, sea kelp wrap and exfoliation while listening to waves crashing and feeling a cool ocean breeze. It’s truly magical. Try the ocean prelude, it will cost you a pretty penny, but definitely worth it.

Amazing relaxation spot. My husband planned a day of relaxing & just being together for Valentine’s Day at the Terranea Spa.
We went there at 1 pm. We were scheduled for massages at 3:30 & 4:45. When we got there, I asked the host if they can switch my appointment to a facial (skin specific facial) treatment instead of massage. Although it was a very busy holiday weekend & they were all booked, they were able to fulfill my request.
They have a co-​Ed salt water pool with a stunning view of the ocean. You can see the dolphins swimming everywhere. We spent a lot of time there, we ordered a bottle of champagne & their salmon salad which was excellent.
When my husband went in for his massage, I went to the jacuzzi, the dry sauna, & even took a 30 min nap with a gorgeous view. At the woman’s lounge they had variety of different nuts, tea & water.
I went in for my facial appt at 4:45, right on time. It was exceptional. My esthetician really listened to my concerns & gave me a lot of good pointers. Did a fantastic job on my facial & gave me a massage on my neck, hands & feet. It was just perfection. My skin was glowing afterwards.
We spent about 5 hrs at the spa all together. I definitely recommend that. They have so many nice amenities that you shouldn’t just go in & out. You really need to dedicate all day to indulge & enjoy.
The woman’s locker is nice, clean & fancy. I was able to get ready there before heading out to dinner.
This was a great treat, would love to do it again soon.

Had a 60 minute massage in this beautiful resort. The masseuse completely forgot to massage one of my arms. Being a type a person, it ruined my entire experience. When I asked to speak to the manager Jozyln, she did not even come out from the back area to speak to me. Unfortunately It left me with a bad taste, because this is not the treatment I would expect from such a high class resort

Left my Gucci sunglasses in the waiting area at the spa on Jan 11, 2016 around 4 – 6:30, called the next day and they said they don’t have it at the lost and found. 100% sure that is where I left it. Too bad somebody took my sunglasses in a fancy location like this :(

I’ve been to the spa at Terranea several times now. It’s beautiful. The views at Terranea resort are hard to beat. It is one of my favorite places to unwind. Massages have been hit or miss. I once had a massage by Micah who gave me the best massage I’ve ever had but I don’t think he works there anymore :(. Either way, I’ve never had any real complaints regarding massage. Some of their rooms are beautiful. One time I was lucky enough to be in the room with a balcony. I was massaged while listening to the oceans waves. Amazing!
The spa has both a steam room and sauna. It also has an outdoor jacuzzi, cold plunge and fire pits through out. The staff is quick to replenish and all are very friendly. I will usually get there early, workout at their gym, spa, and then lay out by the pool, and order some food and drinks.
Just an FYI:
If you don’t get a treatment but want to hang out and use their gym and spa amenities it cost $ 60. I do recommend just getting a treatment. I mean, why not? Also, their cabana rentals are very reasonable.
You can valet for free if you tell them you are going to the Spa.

This review is for the spa pool area. Service at the pool is horrible. Servers are lazy and just stay inside and chit chat. Had to wait 1 hr for someone to come ask what we wanted to drink. Better yet, only asked 1 person in our group for a drink order… Who does that? Went up to the bar to order my own drink, pulled up my own umbrella, and had to walk up to pay for check. Just left and decided to go to cielo instead. Wayyyyyy better. Service is excellent!

The massage rooms are large and well appointed.
AMENITIES:
Amenities are as you would expect but decorated with a higher sophistication for design, color and meaning. Included are steam room, sauna, 2 hot tubs and a well stocked grooming room.
THE VIEW:
The view of the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island are spectacular. The Spa offers a meditation area outside facing the shore

Great place to relax, decompress and unwind. The facility itself is very clean, organized, modern and easy to access. The massage itself it a little over price and is compensated with the extra amenities. I requested a very strong deep tissue massage with a male technician and it wasn’t until the last half hr. that he started to really press hard. They spend a lot of extra time rubbing oils and other things to intrigue your senses instead of focusing just on the massage itself.

A slice of paradise! We booked spa services, crystal rub and massage, to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday. Then we enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings and lounged by the pool. The service was on par, as one would expect, and the food and drink was quite good. Our spa services were enjoyable, and all of the amenities make it a well rounded experience. I am breaking my own rule of reviewing only best or worst by giving a four-​star rating. Our visit really was excellent, but I cannot understand why there was no hot tub at the spa poolside. There are individual men’s and women’s hot tubs in the secluded lounge areas, but no common spa one. It’s not like Terranea is saving water, so… who missed that in all the drawings??? Nonetheless, we will be back! Soon!

Pure pleasure and bliss! The ultimate getaway, who could ask for more… the only sounds you hear are the waves hitting the coastline below the spa. Just a nod and the attendant will bring you what ever you desire.

Having lived in the South Bay for 9 years, I had heard Terranea Spa was the best, but for some reason never could coordinate a visit. Finally, had the opportunity to go this week.
I set up a 60 minute Hot Stone Massage. Cost $ 190. I was doubting that the massage was going to be worth the cost. The facilities were nice, but pretty typical. Of course, there’s gorgeous views of the ocean and its very quiet.
So my masseur was Joseph. Pleasant. But then the massage… Best message I have had in many years. My mind was immediately changed about the spa. I wish I could go back and try other services.
Final note, the shower had 6 different valves for 10 shower heads. Seriously. I felt like a plant operator, turning and trying all the valves, when I just wanted to take a shower. Haha!

Don’t waste your money. Expect to be hustled to buy expensive products. Been to spas worldwide… nothing special here except view. Place used to be a concentration camp for marine animals. Front desk rude… refused request for hair iron! 60 minute massage reduced to 35 minutes with all the delays for undressing, positioning, etc.

There is no better place to enjoy a relaxing day than the spa at Terranea. I had a 90-​minute relaxing classical massage both times, and I’ve heard great things about their mani/​pedi and facials.
The facilities are reason enough to visit this place. The treatment rooms are beautiful — in the first, I could see and hear the ocean below at sunset; and the second was a cozy room that felt more secluded. You can lounge by the pool (exclusive to the spa), enjoy the stunning ocean views, use the fitness center, and even get a meal. It’s sprawling so you have a lot of space even if you’re with a big group — and there’s different kinds of seating to meet your needs (loungers, double loungers, comfy sofas and chairs). The last time I was there, it was great to find they have towel coverings customized to fit the loungers (it gets windy so this is a huge plus).
The spa validates valet parking, and self-​parking is easy and close if you choose. Stop by Nelson’s for drinks/​dinner at sunset to complete a perfect day.

By far, the absolute, most wonderful spa I have ever been to. Glen Ivy, Elizabeth Arden, and Burke Williams have nothing on this spa! Suren was absolutely amazing! I would and will come back over and over again. Best spa experience ever. The spa grounds are clean and have so much to offer… Steam room, sauna, relaxation room with a gorgeous view of the ocean with dolphins swimming everywhere. Loved it!

Nothing on this planet compares to this spa– by far the most beautiful spa I have ever been too– I scheduled a 90 minute massage with Angie (ask for her, her hands are magical!!) the massage was exceptional, the spa– breath taking, the whole experience… PRICELESS!

From the moment you walk in you quickly realize this is no ordinary spa. At 50,000 square feet it is one of the largest (if not the largest) spa facilities in the state. There is a considerable coed area which includes various types of cabanas and lounge chairs, oceanfront daybeds, etc. A café caters to your dietary needs with various LA style health dishes (wraps, fish tacos, salads and smoothies).
The segregated areas are large and exceptionally well maintained. Although the woman’s side gets an ocean view while the men get a diminutive wall landscaping. Nevertheless, a view anywhere at terranea is never wanting. Simply open the gate and voila.
Staff is friendly, attentive and accomodating. There is an excellent spa treatment menue, and very talented masseurs cater to your every whim. The suites are amazing, especially the couples ocean view rooms. Tip: if you go with that special someone, be sure you schedule a «soak» after your couples treatment so you get about 30 minutes of alone time to… take in the view.
Remember to leave the offspring at home.

We made a rservation at Nelsons, so while waiting, we went to the spa and that worker at the front desk (heavy fat mexican girl) very rude and very nasty, what a turn off. Then this stupid girl came up, no people skills at all… please give them a customer service training !!!#

I actually have not had any spa treatments yet but I’ve been here several times. They allow day use of the facility from Monday to Thursday for $ 60. Let me tell you, it is a steal at $ 60! You get to use the pool, gym, jacuzzi, and sauna for entire day. I usually like to hang out by the pool. I have never seen it too crowded. It is so relaxing!
The spa café has good selection of healthy lunch items and great drinks. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
