Since the hand over of our site, Sytable developed for us, we’ve had major problems. Currently it takes anywhere up to 2 minutes to load the home page, which we discovered later, is due to some really bad programming. Our forum pages don’t work. We can’t edit or update blogs. Other basic features such as adding images to blogs, text bold, italics and underline — we were told were not possible! Strange, when this comes as standard with Wordpress!
For legal purposes we hired two independent developers to examine the website and document the results in a report. Apparently it will cost less to have the site completely re-​written, than to fix. One of the main problems is our site was outsourced by Sytable to different programmers located in India, so the code varies significantly.
After constantly missing deadlines, we sent an official complaint to Sytable management which was followed by daily emails and phone calls — no response. We finally got a response from Sytable owner and president, Andre Linton, but only after we threatened legal action.
Andre Linton initially agreed to help fix the site, but after about 2 weeks told us that he could not fix it. His excuse? His final email to us stated that he couldn’t help us as he «had not been personally involved with the project from the outset.» In other words, he was not responsible for his employee’s mistakes. Which is ridiculous as we were told the guy assigned to manage the development of our site, Damion McGhie, (who is Damion?
) was their best developer. As it turned out, Damion was a disaster to work with. However his incompetence did not absolve Andre, the owner of Sytable, of all responsibility.
Thus the fully customized site we were promised, is still unfinished and unusable, and we are now $ 11,250 out of pocket.
After making contact with other small business owners who also hired Sytable via
, it seems Sytable have a history for promising services and not delivering. We’ve learned, that Sytable’s strategy is to provide a simple wireframe, and then rush the customer to pay 75% to that point. Then work grinds to a halt. Dishonest? Yes — but that’s their strategy.
This company has let a lot of small business people down. They take your money but do not make good on their promise — they cannot be trusted.
In fact our site was hacked almost immediately after we complained to the Better Business Bureau. Our site forums were mysteriously filled with spam and links were broken.
In the past few months they now have dropped from an A to an F-​rating with the BBB due to the number of complaints
As it turned out Sytable lacked the level of skill to do the programming required and had behind the scenes outsourced all of the work on our site to various companies in India…
…and this is where the story gets interesting…
Quite by chance, we discovered someone had listed our website as a reference. Out of curiosity we contacted them. It turns out they were one of the Indian companies Sytable had outsourced work on our site to — a company called Ace Technolgoies (
). After some correspondence, with Nimish Batra, the owner of Ace Technologies, we learned that Sytable had not paid them a cent for the work they had done on our site. Andre Linton, the owner of Sytable, had written in an email to Nimish (which Nimish forwarded to me), stating they could not pay as Sytable had not been paid by us. Which was a blatant lie, as by that time we had already paid Sytable $ 11 250. This also explains why our site was never actually finished properly.
