Montessori Academy

All 3 of our children attend this Montessori Academy. They started when my second child had just turned one years old. My oldest is in the elementary. This is a fantastic school! It is not just a daycare like so many other places for our kids’ age groups (2, 4 and 6). I am and always have been amazed by how caring the teachers are and how our children have progressed. Our youngest (2 years old) is learning to sound out the alphabet, how to write letters and numbers, sorting colors and recognizes names of shapes, and speaks a vocabulary of a 5 year old. This is how all three of our children have been in this school. We plan to keep our children there as long as possible. You cannot get this level of teaching and personal attention anywhere else. Our first grader is learning Spanish in addition to reading English. We adore this school, the faculty and the setting. We recommend it to anyone looking for quality teaching and after-​school care. The tuition is standard for the area, and well worth it. Before coming to this school we had our two oldest in a daycare setting parttime and paid the same as fulltime at this school. In the daycare, our kids were not taught. They were just «watched» as they played. I hated it and felt guilty every time I left my babies there.

All five of my children have attended Montessori Academy dating back to the 90s. I have always been impressed with the environment and educational and social enrichment my children have received. Julie has always been an incredible Montessori teacher and I feel very fortunate that my children have been able to experience Montessori with her and her school. The classroom setting it truly a magical experience in early childhood. My children learned to read, write, and be prepared for higher grade level school experience here! I couldn’t be more happy and pleased with the way they were treated with respect, comfort, and kindness. This school has been such a blessing in my life and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a Montessori experience for their children.

I went there today 9−14−14 for a tour. I walked in to find a 2 or 3 year old standing on a chair and the OWNER (older blond head lady) yelling at him in front of 3 teachers. First of all, why was she yelling at him with her hand in his face, so loud I can hear her from the outside? #2 why was she yelling at him while he was STANDING ON A CHAIR where he can fall. she said she was trying to make him sit down but he is a baby, why not put him on the floor? #3 why was she embarrassing him in front of all those people?
I couldn’t even finish my tour because I felt so uncomfortable. I would NEVER take my child to this school.
This School has no cameras.
I called to find out who the lady was and they said her Name was Judy or Julie. They specifically said she was the Owner. I am disgusted and will be contacting whoever I need to contact to make sure these kids are being treated right.

The best decision I’ve made as a parent, so far, has been choosing this school for my daughter. I was so nervous at first, as any first time mother would be, but my fears and trepidation quickly went away when I saw the genuine care the teachers showed my baby. The teachers genuinely love what they do. My daughter attended this school from 3 months to just past a year and a half and her growth during that time is amazing; people are constantly impressed with her language abilities and her out-​going personality. We relocated to Florida so we had to withdraw her but I’ve already referred 3 friends to the school. I truly have nothing but good things to say about this place! We will miss it immensely.

If you are looking for an expensive «Day Care», versus School, where the Management does not know what they are doing and makes decisions on the «fly», this place is for you. You can tell that most of the teachers work in fear of their jobs, which provides an overall negative atmosphere/​tone that the children are exposed to every day. Lastly, tuition is not a set rate. It’s based on your profession and what they think you can afford and what you can possibly negotiate.

Montessori academy is a true Montessori school. Any school can call themselves a Montessori school because Maria Montessori never copyrighted the name. But a true Montessori school will have mixed age classrooms & encourage, challenge and foster a love for learning through art, senorial work, practical life, mutual respect for each other and Mother Earth, just to name a few. Both my children have been going there since they were 20mths old. They are now ages 3 & 4 ½.

This is a great school! My four year old is very happy at this school. I tried another school prior to Montessori Academy and he cried everyday. He did not cry once at this school. He has been going here for five months and he is loving it more everyday :)
The teachers are all wonderful and very friendly, and the school is very clean and fun.

I can’t believe there were no other ratings for this school. Maybe parents are trying to keep this gem to themselves? :) My son went to another school, and they asked us constantly to give them high reviews on Unilocal and Google. Clearly, that’s not the priority with this school — their focus is our kids. I have two boys who go to Montessori Academy, and I can’t express how pleased I am with the staff, the approach, the other families, and the overall atmosphere here. Our 4-​year old son has gone to a few different places for child care — a home day care, a chain preschool, and now here. This is by far the best. He has severe food allergies, and they’ve been really good about calling me when anything comes up, and working with parents and students to keep him safe. He is also learning at a much faster pace here. He comes home knowing where all of the different continents are, excited about the planets, sounding out full words — he has something new and exciting every day, and has really started to love learning! In fact, I stopped by during lunch today to take him shopping for his birthday party, and he didn’t want to leave. My younger son is 10 months old, and I’ve been really happy with the way their infant room (ages 6 weeks to 2 years) is run. He’s been happy since the first day I dropped him off (aside from the initial bye bye tears), and he’s playing with other kids or sleeping every time I pop in on him. This school is really good at connecting families and really building a comfortable atmosphere. We love the teachers here and everyone else that makes the school great! We’re definitely impressed with our experience, and we’ll be sad when it’s time to send them to public school!
