Not just your dog/​cat sitters, we have years of experience with reptiles, birds, fish and rodents too. Overnite stays, daily visits, medications, shy pets, elderly animals, and helping with many pet issues our specialty. Trained in first aid & holistic nutrition. Former groomer, pet shop owner, rescue volunteer and breeder of birds and Shar-​Peis. We remain within 5 miles of our business base, to save time and money so we can offer the best rates and spend more time with pets, less time on the road. We have 3 family members trained for each client for emergency backup and never need to hire outside help. We never overbook & never take on more than we can safely handle.

History

Established in 1969.

Liza started at age 13, sitting for all the neighbors in her hometown of Claremont. Through high school, college and even into adult years working in theatre management and accounting, she was always the «go-​to» person to watch animals evenings, weekends and holidays. In 1988, Liza and husband Rex bought and ran LeZel’s Pet & Grooming Centre in Rancho, retaining the pet care portion after the sale of LeZel’s to one of their employees later. Son Reggie and daughter Heather were raised in the pet business, learning every aspect of pet care and petsitting as they grew to adulthood. Liza, Reggie and Heather work together, learning the needs of every client and matching the best sitter to each situation.

Raised in Claremont, Ca, Liza was the kid on the block that was the one everyone trusted to feed their pets on vacations. She also hung out at the Home Pet Center after school, begging to help in any capacity with the animals. Her own pets included birds, fish, reptiles, rodents, dogs, cats and even orphaned/​injured wildlife… and anything else that «followed her home!» At age 13, she started Petsitters in the Claremont area, advertising through the local pet shops. Petsitting helped put her through college, where she got a degree in accounting. She has worked in construction, public accounting, managed movie theatres, raised parrots, bred and shown SharPeis, and owned LeZel’s Pet and Grooming Shop for 10 years, after original owners Les & Zelma retired. But the petsitting requests kept coming, mostly through years of customer referrals, so now there are 3 family members (son and daughter) working the family business together.
