Korean Market – Best HomeMart

It’s a Korean mini mart that has the essentials. I just love the idea that there’s a Korean market around here with kimchi. It’s a bit pricey bc they don’t have the super specials like they have at hmart/​Zion/​etc. but at least I don’t have to drive 50 miles from riverside to get some necessities.

I bought a Korean snack here and it was expired… Too bad I didn’t check before buying it but why is it in the shelves in the first place?

My husband’s brother and stepdad stayed with us the week of Thanksgiving. After we picked them up from the Ontario airport, we were immediately in search for some good kimchi and other Korean goods to at least last the first day. (Note my husband and his brother are half Korean and stepdad is Korean.)
We checked out this small grocery store and bought one of the smaller jars of kimchi ($ 12), some frozen Korean noodles, and other snacks. I was eyeing the frozen dumplings which looked homemade. They had some produce in boxes at the front and more household/​kitchen items in the back of the store. My husband’s stepdad also bought a Korean newspaper. The one thing that was concerning to me was that while looking at the freezer section, my husband’s stepdad found a razor blade laying on the freezer ledge behind him and it fell to the ground. I went around the corner to look at the dried noodles on the shelf and I too found a razor blade just laying on the shelf. I’m not sure if they use them to open boxes or something, but that’s quite a hazard to customers.
The jar of kimchi only lasted 2 days at our house! LOL. My husband’s stepdad ended up making more kimchi himself which actually taste so much better. (Note that he has been making homemade kimchi for 40 years!) We got all the ingredients from the Super H Mart over in Diamond Bar.
We came back here a second time in search for some Korean cucumber which they didn’t have. We also came to see if they had any kimchi jars for sale and again they did not. The store owner told us to try the 99 Ranch Market across the street. We purchased some drinks and a few other snacks and made our way across the street.
As in my other reviews, I always say I like to support small business owners. However with the razor blades and lack of products… I had to knock off a couple stars.

This place is amazing. I’m so happy to have found a place like this so close to me! The kimchi they sell is incredible, their snack selection is top notch, and I even chatted in some (limited) Korean with the ajumma working there. I love it!

This mom and pop mini mart is fantastic!
I bought their kimchi and different variety of their Korean products. Owner is friendly and gave us samples of their goodies. I would be a definite regular here.

This store sells the best Kim chee I have ever had! Even better than the Kim chee they sell at h Mart. They’re squid jut is very good also. I only wish they would sell a greater variety of ban chan, and that they would sell the Kim chee in smaller portions. Then I could buy a variety of Kim chee types. The small jar is enough to last me for three months at least. The Kim chee is very fresh when you first buy it, so ripen it to your preference once you are at home.

Thank goodness they opened a korean market in this area. It’s tiny but has the basics and actually sells the best packaged kimchi we’ve tried so far even compared to those found in LA’s ktown and Orange County.
Homemade dumplings are pricey but well worth it (my picky Korean husband loves them). They were large, not too salty and tasted great. Such an upgrade from the frozen ones. And on Friday and Saturday they get shipments of kimbap.
Definitely come support this local business!

Am I the only person in the Upland/​Rancho area looking for a Korean market??? This place is a hidden gem tucked away in a plaza (across the street from 99 Ranch and next door to Baskin Robbins)
This tiny store has very limited and ONLY essential items you may need such as fresh jars of Kimchi, rice, ramen, homemade dumplings, basic korean ingredients (dry package/​canned) etc.
OH– they also rent out Korean DVD’s yay!
If you run out basic Korean food, definitely come here! I found that it’s still cheaper here than going to 99 ranch across the street. And of course, I love to give business to small mom and pop stores!
