Great place for consistently good lobster and steak/prime rib. It’s an older crowd, I take my parents here a couple times a year. I always order the lobster tail and prime rib it’s always great, they also have Heineken on tap which is a huge plus!!! Never disappoints thanks Rudy’s

I have to admit, I was reluctant to go here given its location and exterior. It looks like a dive bar from the outside, and even all the way until the door(which has an cigarette extinguisher station), you’ll be second guessing whether or not you went to the right restaurant. Inside is an extremely inviting restaurant and friendly staff, accompanied by repeat patrons. This place is really that good. The calamari appetizer is unlike any other I’ve had before. I come back primarily because of this

Excellent food and service to match. We had lobster potstickers, crab cakes and the stuffed salmon. Everything was on point. We will definitely be frequent flyers.

We(a group of 6) went here for dinner to celebrate a birthday. The food was great, the people were great, but the service was pretty slow. Our reservation was for 6:30, we didn’t get seated until 7, and we didn’t get our food until 8. Of course, it was a Friday night and they had quite a few large groups, so we were understanding. We did notice that the room where they put all the large groups cleared out right after 8 pm, so if we go back with a group again, we’ll just make our reservation a little later to avoid the rush. Also be aware that the«group room» can get pretty noisy during rush-hour. Other than that, it was the same great food that I always expect from Rudy’s.

Been meaning to try Rudy’s for a while now and so glad we finally did. It’s a little pricey so just figured it was more of a special occasion place, but just decided to splurge. On our table tonight — lobster potstickers, clam chowder, prime rib dip, and Alaskan king crab legs. Ohmygod, soooo good. The pot stickers were perfection and they come with this sweet-spicy dipping sauce that’s too die for. Clam chowder was best I’ve ever had. Prime rib was sliced supremely thin, perfectly cooked and served with a savory delicious au jus dip. Crab legs were monstrous, buttery goodness. Service was attentive and friendly. No complaints. :) Dinner for two(including drinks, tax and tip) was about $ 115. We were both uncomfortably stuffed to the max, so I’d like to come back and try some of their desserts. Mud pie? Banana crème? Yes please! We’ll be back!

Back for the second time. Far less hectic. Service excellent, menu selections outstanding. Don’t miss the chowder.

Lobster is the big thing about Rudy’s Hideaway, and they even have the evasive lobster rolls. I’ve eaten there a few times, and I’ve been pleased every time. I’ve had the fried Fisherman’s platter(shrimp, oysters, calamari) and it was quite good. And their seafood Louie(little shrimp, big shrimp, crab and lobster) and it’s quite good. Portions are large, and everything seemed to be reasonably fresh. I don’t know that there is a «better» local seafood restaurant around there(well, I can think of one but they don’t primarily do seafood and this review is about Rudy’s and not them.) I think it’s a little bit on the pricey side for what it is, but that tends to be a common complaint from me these days. Depending on what you order. The seafood Louie, for example is a reasonable deal at thirteen bucks considering what and how much is in it. The dinner combos start to get over the top expensive. I give this place a most def go.

Rudy’s has been a Sacramento favorite for many years. Don’t let the looks outside or the location fool you, the food is pretty good. A notch below a Ruth Chris or Mortons but also less expensive. They have a cool food truck also with awesome lobster rolls!

First time going to rudys hideaway. Not many places in our Northern California area have live Maine lobster. We came as a group of 7 and the service was excellent. Reservations were made easily on line and the staff was pleasant and attentive. Even though we showed up 30 min early. When the food came we were pretty disappointed. The fresh lobster(two of our 7 ordered) were over cooked and the meat was tough and stringy. As was the same with the king crab legs(two of the 7 also ordered). The flavor was good but bad texture. One of our group ordered the salmon. He didn’t like it very much either. Although one of our party greatly enjoyed the prime rib! Also the crowd is a bit on the older side. Guess we will be going to SF next time

We looked for a Restaurant that was going to be open for Christmas dinner and noticed that Rudy’s Hideaway was available. It has been years since we dined there with some friends, and as good as it was, we kind of forgot about them since it’s out of our neighborhood. That’s the best excuse I have since it’s true and we have a great group of restaurants in Citrus Heights that we frequent. We had reservations and were seated soon. The Christmas Menu was limited, but had more than enough to choose from. I chose the Prime Rib and my wife chose the Holiday Turkey Dinner. Both were super-sized and really tasty. The waitress was cheerful and friendly, and that goes for anyone we encountered at the restaurant. How special to feel honored by people giving up their holiday to serve others. We will not forget to return Rudy’s Hideaway ever again! Next time it’s going to be for the lobster!

The clam chowder was excellent! Tried the lobster ravioli and it was good but not much portion wise. My server was very nice and attentive. Only issue was no host and I waited for 10 minutes before I walked over to the bar and had to ask to be seated.

I wanted to take my boyfriend to a romantic restaurant for his birthday, however am unfamiliar with Rancho Cordova. I chose a different restaurant that required you to leave a voice mail for a reservation and on the way there while on the freeway they called back and said they were already full, «Sorry!». In a panic, I asked the BF where we could go that was nice and he chose this place. We get to the parking lot and it’s FULL at 530 pm, however the hostess cheerfully seated us in a nice booth. The décor was quirky and cute, tasteful and comfortable. Now for the food and drink. we started with 2 mojitos and crab stuffed mushrooms. The mojitos had lots of lime and mint, but were very light on the rum, still flavorful, but I would have liked a heavier pour. The mushrooms were great! They were served on a garlic, caper tomato type sauce that was full of flavorful and complimented the mushrooms. Fresh sour dough bread and butter was also served. For the entrée, I had Prawn Scampi with garlic mashed potatoes with a clam chowder starter. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful with chunks of potato and topped with bacon. The Prawns were cooked to perfection in a buttery, garlicky, lemony puddle of goodness. The potatoes were good, but not great, a little bland. My boyfriend had the stuffed salmon with broccoli and a Lobster Bisque starter. The bisque was velvety smooth and the salmon cooked perfectly. At the end of the meal, our sweet server brought my boyfriend a complimentary chocolate mousse and whipped cream dessert for his birthday and even included a little lit candle on top! I really like this place and am dying to try other menu items like the lobster tail which came in different sizes, a whole Maine lobster, prime rib, rib eye steak, King crab legs. I could go on. If you’ve never been here, check it out!

Love this place. Tucked away next to the freeway, this place has great food. Firstly, the waiter was very nice and attentive. He made sure we were comfortable and gave us good suggestions. The meal started off w clam chowder, one of the best I’ve had. I had the prime rib and lobster. Both were delicious. The prime rib was cooked to perfection. The garlic mash potatoes were good but lacked the garlic flavor. I would highly recommend trying it! There are specials depending on the day but you’d have to look that up.

Play by play: The ambiance is great. Friendly welcome at the door. The waitress is doing great so far; and now, the clam chowder, WOW! And the bread with it is delicious. Did I mention the clam chowder! The place is clean and modern. Now my prime rib sandwich(see pic). Mmmmm great! As good as any prime rib I’ve had, onion straws a great touch. It ain’t cheep, but it’s worth it. We will be back!

Rudy’s Hideaway is definitely hidden! Had I not seen a picture of my friend’s dinner here, I most likely would have never found this place. Since then, I’ve been here twice; and the experiences were way different. The first time, my bf and I decided to come here for our anniversary. We made reservations and my bf apparently had special requests, which they were able to accommodate. I had the 1 lb lobster, which was $ 19.95 on this particular night! It is a little over $ 30 regularly. My bf had the prime rib with mashed potatoes and clam chowder. Our food came out in a timely fashion. The clam chowder was THEBEST I’ve ever had. There was crispy bacon on top! Need I say more? I had to flag my waitress down so I could add a cup of clam chowder to my meal. It was $ 4.95 to add it, but it’s so worth it. My lobster was cooked perfectly and my bf’s prime rib was huge. Everything was delicious. Our waitress was super sweet and even opened up my wet napkin for me. She definitely made our experience an even better one! On our second visit, I came with my family. I wanted to try their lobster roll, and I added a cup of clam chowder. Our waiter was nice, but I feel as if he brushed us off and didn’t make us a priority because we were younger than the rest of the patrons. He was never rude to us, but I could see in his face that he was not putting in as much effort into our table as he was with other tables. My lobster roll was less than decent. I expected something much better. My lobster was cold. The fries were the best part. It was not worth $ 19.95. I would still recommend this place, but only for the live lobster and the clam chowder.

This place was legit! I came on a Thursday night and had the surf and turf prime rib and lobster tail. The prime rib was juicy, tender and cooked exactly how I wanted it, medium rare. If you’re eating it anymore cooked than that I feel bad for you. They took the generous piece of lobster out of the shell at the table. It tasted great along side the prime rib. The side dishes were good and the house red wasn’t bad tasting. The restaurant looks like a dive bar from the outside, but once you’re inside it’s like an old school roadside restaurants where you might find some Italian mobsters. Located right off of Hwy 50, it’s worth the trip. I will definitely be back.

We came to Rudy a few times already and let me just each time the food is amazing. I love the atmosphere of the place. Don’t let the outside of the place fool you, inside is nice. We always have great service from all the staff and that is a major plus on top of great food. Price is reasonable. This is one of our favorite restaurant to come to celebrate and or just because.
