National Garage Door

I had some issues with dents on the inside of the new door, but the owner, Kevin came by and resolved the issue to my satisfaction.

If I could, I’d give them a minus 10! This company is a very unscrupulous outfit that have very unprofessional staff. Not only do they do shoddy work but they get defensive when you question them and drag their feet about returning to correct the mistakes they make. Complain to management? I called 5x and the general manager, Kevin, never bothered to call back once!
I’ve spent thousands of dollars with this company over the years and have come to find out that they’re not interested in doing good work, only in making money.
I had Alex, «Our Top Technician» do some repairs to my garage door and spent over $ 400. Within a few months, the door started squeaking and screeching because it had been improperly repaired and one of the new cables he installed was already shredding and one of the new drums was rubbing the bracket next to it. Alex again came out and made further repairs and charged me for correcting his mistakes.
After the previous repair, the door started slamming hard to the ground on one side. Another call to National and another visit from Alex,” the wonderful one”.He readjusted the door, fiddled with the some bolts on the door and an adjustment on the opener and proclaimed «you need a new opener and garage door» I asked why and he said because they were old and the new ones are so much nicer and I could talk to so and so at the office and he’ll set me up with all I’d need”. I was thinking to myself, «yeah sure!».
A couple months later, the new cable that replaced the previously new shredded cable was also shredding again. Many, many calls to National netted me zero return calls from their general manager Kevin. Talked to a woman named Percy who promised me return calls from Kevin who would be in Friday but not today. When Friday came, he was at the home show. BUT, I got an appointment with Alex the following Monday for a time between 1−3PM.
When Monday came I called and talked to Percy and, again, said I wanted to speak to Kevin who conveniently was not in again. She told me that Alex was due out this day between 1−3PM. I told her that I wanted to talk to Kevin because I have paper work that showed that Alex installed the wrong parts and that was why the door cables were shredding. She said she would have Kevin call me when he got in.
At 3:20PM Percy called and said Alex was behind in his work and would be out between 4 – 5:30PM. At 5:20PM Alex showed up and we had a «heart to heart» discussion about his lousy work, his unscrupulous company and I had to point out to him his lousy work. He excused it away by saying that the door was old, the door was heavy, the building had settled, the hardware was old and lightweight and on and on.
I told him he replaced the old parts with unmatching lighter ones as proved by previous repair bills which showed that the cables that he installed was 1/​8″ instead of 5/​32″ and that the new drums were smaller than the old ones. He poo pooed all this and said the problem was due to the old door and old hardware. He finally shuffled things around, replaced the shredded cable and stated that he would warranty the work for one month but would not warrant the door if it shifted. I questioned him bout that statement and he started on some long winded bs about nothing so I tuned him out.
My parting statement to him was that I might eventually get a new door and opener but it sure as heck wouldn’t be from National Door Company!

It’s been over a year since we got our garage doors and openers. The guy who came out did a good job of installing them. The doors work as good now as they did when they were first installed.

I highly recommend them. Got the job done quickly and was very honest about the situation. Brandon (our tech) was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

I was so impressed with this company! Alex was the man dispatched he had a great personality and had the door completely changed out with a new entire motor etc. with in about an hour. He then took the time to walk me through the new system.
Excellent experience, he was timely and trustworthy.
I would recommend this company to everyone! Ask for Alex he is great!..

This is my second experience w/​National Garage Door, it was just as good as my first. Both springs on our garage door broke last night. I called «NGD» this morning. The person that answered the phone was very pleasant and professional. She was able to schedule same day repair between 2−4PM (which was a pleasant surprise, I was expecting a day or two wait). Dan was prompt and courteous. He showed up right around 2PM. The cost of the repair was reasonable and exactly what Hubby estimated it would be. Dan did the repair plus gave the door a little tune up (lubed the door and replaced missing screws) in about 15 minutes. I will definitely use them again if need be and would recommend them to friends or family. Thanks Dan. P. S. I’m hoping not to have to give another review in the «home repair» category anytime soon… when it rains it pours. :/

It’s almost 3 years since I had a new door and operator installed. The installer was on time and removed the old door and operator and replaced it with the new unit. I’ve had no problems at all.

National Garage Door to the rescue — I would give them 6 stars if I could…
We have a very simple Sears ½ HP garage door opener that had the gears go out on it. Our home warrantee company sent out a fella from the Mescher Door Company right down the road from our house. It was a Monday morning. The first thing the fella did after entering our garage, was tell me that he needed a check for $ 65, and that he wasn’t even going to get the tools off his truck until her received it? Wha??? We have had a dozen things fixed by contractors our insurance company has sent over in the last 10 years, none of them have ever said or done anything like that. We later found out that ‘he’ was not supposed to either. He was lazy lazy lazy from the start, this man that Mescher sent over… That opener weighs a whole like 5 – 8 lbs maybe… It was mounted to the ceiling and was just over the edge of a pool table that had a ping pong table on top of it. Long story short — this wuss said he could not do the job unless we moved our pool table. I told him he could just take it down, replace the gears and put it right back up. i told him he could even stand on the ping pong table top… The wuss just couldn’t handle that, so I sent him on his way, he did not pass GO and he did not collect his $ 65 check… We called First American, our warantee company, and they apologized and put us in contact with the place anyone reading this should contact — **National Garage Door Company**. Lucky for me the National Garage Door Company has a fella named *Dan* that is a former Maryland’er with a real ‘easy going, nothings a problem, East Coast’ mentality. Dan took one look at the situation, went out to the truck to get his ladder, tools and parts he needed. Popped up the ladder, took the cover off the unit, pulled and replaced the gears — and was done in less than 20 minutes with a perfectly working, finely tuned, adjusted and oiled garage door opener –and– door. Dan is the man, the National Garage Door Company kicks ass, and they really put poor old Mescher Door Company to shame. Just telling it like it is. Sorry Mescher, I live less than 2 miles from you, but will never ever let anyone call you for me ever again. Just how it is. National Garage Door Company kicked your butts bigtime…

DO NOT USE! They didn’t fix the initial problem. And upon return to fix the job they claim that because I «touched» the sensor (duh, I was trying to get my door to close) this made their warranty invalid. They claim the «door» was working so it worked. Umm… it’s a whole package and trust me, it was not working after you visited to fix it. Ethically they should want to make sure the whole system works on a regular basis.

Although this company does a great job with electric garage doors I would not recommend them for electric gates. My parents, in their late 80s and both disabled, had them install an electric gate across their driveway just over 2 years ago. It has stopped working twice and both times the wait to fix it seemed to be never-​ending. The first time parts were brought out one at a time over a period of weeks, after taking over a week to even get the parts in. The second time was just recently and again the wait for parts was nearly two weeks and then it was the wrong part. The parts warehouse is in the bay area, so 10 days for a part is unheard of. For my parents the gate opener is a necessity, not a luxury, and the service received from this company is frustrating to say the least and the owner constantly tries to lay the blame for the non-​working gate anywhere except with his company. Forty minutes before the appointment they call to say they won’t be there because there gate tech is on an «emergency call»! Is there only one gate tech in the company? My Dad almost falling twice opening the gate by hand while waiting two weeks to get the batteries connectors replaced in the gate seems like an emergency to me. The gate is finally working again and hopefully will stay working until the warranty runs out at which time I will search for a new company that knows how to properly service in a timely manner their products for my parents. For anyone wanting an electric gate — go elsewhere.

Yesterday morning at 7:20 am I talked to Kevin Lewis at National Garage Door. I had broken a spring and couldn’t get out of my garage. He was very professional and anxious to help. He told me someone would be there between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. At 8:10 am Dan was at my door. Again he was very professional and friendly. He had the door fixed in 25 minutes. I have a split panel and I ask him about replacements. He gave me prices and brochures and lot of good information. All prices were very reasonable including the service for the spring repair. They now are my go to guys for any garage door repairs or replacements. Folsom, Ca.

The gentleman who helped us couldn’t have been more helpful. He made sure when I left I had everything I needed to fix the problem.

They have been out before to repair my old opener and a few days ago to install a new one (yay!). Alex arrived on time and was friendly and professional. They were originally sent by my home warranty company but now I request them if I need anything. He didn’t even seen annoyed that my dogs were barking at him from inside my house.

We have had NGD out for three seperate service calls and have had exceptional service every time. They have stated the costs up-​front and honored the quote (despite working beyond the original expectation). Professional from beginning to end, I would strongly recommend this company.

I had National Garage Door replace my aging and broken garage door in my home this morning, and it was a great experience. The estimator arrived on time and quickly gave me a rundown on my options. I selected what I wanted and signed an estimate and scheduled a date for installation.
The installer was running a little late, but they were nice enough to call me and let me know this. Kudos! Alex showed up, was very friendly, introduced himself and got right to work. I was really shocked by how quickly one person could pull down an old garage door and replace it with a new one. The whole job took less than 3 hours. The man was very skilled. I’m giddy about my new garage door, it looks GREAT! The opener is nice and quiet… just awesome! And, it was very reasonably priced, to boot!

My garage doors spring was broke, called them and i was able to make an app for the same day. They showed up on time, fair price and they also did some extra tune up and adjustments for my garage door for free. Fair price, on time and great service!!! highly recommend them!

Prompt professional service. Garage door springs needed replacement. Called in the morning and had a service tech out by noon. Fixed and ready to go by 1pm.

Wow, what an extremely unprofessional business. If you have a broken garage door go anywhere else.
First of all I made an appointment and asked for a slotted time for a repair before 2 o’clock and to make a memo of it on the account because I can not be at the house. I then receive a call two days later saying that I would have a technician at my house between 1 and 3. So, this obviously doesn’t work and I tell the secretary again I need to be gone by 1 o’ clock on the day I want my garage door fixed. When I get another call she says 11 – 1 and I tell her okay, if you need to be at my house before 12 in case it takes longer to fix than and hour. She assures me that a technician will be their before 12. So, today I wait at my house until 12 and I left because they were unable to make the appointment.
Next, I receive a snide call from the owner who is obviously on the side of his employees, which I would normally find admirable; However, the fact is the secretary is losing him business by inefficient scheduling due to incompetence or the technician flat out lied to him.
As a consumer I would beware of this place. I would highly recommend staying away from this business because I would be surprised if a $ 100 turned into a $ 500 job.

My homeowners warranty called national garage when my door decided to jump track. They called immediately giving me a service time frame, the technician arrived promptly and got right to work. He fixed all the wheels balanced the door unbent the track adjusted all the panels tightened the springs and fixed the lock. He found out the reason why its been making the grinding noise and I now have an appt to replace my automatic mechanism. I highly recommend national garage!

Excellent customer service! They were very courteous and gave short windows of time they would show up and did in that time. Hopefully won’t have to use them again but if I need to I will.
