Jiffy Lube

I’ve been using Jiffy Lubes for years. I’m not commenting on this location in particular, they’re all the same — hit and miss, depending on the staff and management in effect at the time. I’ve generally had more positive experiences than negatives.
Plusses:
–Convenient. Usually, when they say it will be done in fifteen minutes, it will. Or, if they’re really busy they will let you know. I mean that’s why you’re coming here. Convenience. You’re paying a premium. They don’t gouge you like a dealership but they aren’t cut rate either.
–Well stocked. They aren’t the same as a garage and don’t do full service work (well, this particular location actually has some garage bays in it) but they can do a lot of the annoying services, like replacing light bulbs, miscellaneous little filters, etc…
–Lots of locations. This is convenient particularly if you’re on an account. You can just go in there, not worry about filling out a bunch of forms and do it.
Minuses:
–Pricey. A standard oil change with synthetic will run you over a C note, after all the «standard» charges and fees are added. I suppose it’s the cost of doing business, but the other guys do it for half the price. I mean, if you’re in a hurry, or someone else is paying the bill, I suppose it doesn’t matter.
–Mechanics they aren’t. Or at least if their staff has had basic mechanic training it doesn’t show. They don’t seem to grasp simple concepts such as cold vs. hot tire inflation pressures, and always end up underinflating, and even letting air out of your tires. They can obviously do the basic services like oil changes and radiator flushes. They can’t do transmission fluid replacements on all automatic transmissions.
–Quick on the upsell. Nobody gets their radiator flushed every month or their differential fluid changed twice a year. I know the status of my car. I’m here for an oil change. If there is a critical service that I know is due, and they can do it, then fine. But you will be barraged with a list.
Tips:
–Tell them to leave the tires alone! Unless they are either in imminent danger of going flat, or you just like a mushy ride, low tire life, poor mileage and bad handling. Put 32 (gulp) pounds in a hot tire, and it’s going to be unsafe at the high end of highway speeds. I won’t go lower than a 35 cold inflation or 40 hot inflation pressure myself.
–Know what services your vehicle needs before you go there. Again, you will be confronted with a bill of goods — air filters (they will show it to you and let you decide), various fluid changes, tire rotations, etc… and some you might need to do, and some don’t really need to be done as frequently as the stated schedule.
–Don’t completely rely on them to check all of your fluid levels. They generally do a fine job, but everyone is human and sometimes mistakes are made.

These people are the worst! The last time I got my oil change was at this jiffy lube. They overcharged me and had a bullcrap explanation for their overcharging. When I went home I noticed the invoice receipt that they gave us had someone elses name on it. That’s why the price was so different.
Anyways they tightened the oil bolt so much! We’ve been trying to loosen it for the past two days and it won’t buldge. We called and they fed us some more bull crap how they only used 23 pounds of force to tighten it. They won’t take the bolt out for us and they said to come in to pay 30 dollars for an oil change. They also said that after the oil change that they CAN’T tighten it by hand because it’s company policy. So there ya go– they do it on purpose to get repeat customers.
I’m never going to these scammers again and I hope they go out of business.

A little frustrated. These guys do a great job with oil changes, but promote the fact that they check your fluid levels. Unfortunately, I was told my fluids were fine, i.e. engine oil, transmission fluid etc. My transmission just recently went out. Later while having my transmission rebuilt, I learned that the fluid was extremely low and burnt. I had been to Jiffy Lube just three weeks before and was told the transmission fluid was normal. Apparently not.

I’ve gotten nothing but good service from knowledgeable staff every time I’ve taken my vehicle there. I never feel pressured to buy services or like my business isn’t appreciated. It’s a bit more $ to get your oil done here but totally worth it for the service and experience.

They are very courteous and helpful but take for ever iv been sitting in the waiting room for over an hour for any oil change and a transmission service and my work truck has been sitting outside for quit some time

My daughter’s car had an oil leak– so she took it here to be fixed. It was a simple fix – the plug had to be replaced – but Jiffy Lube did this without charging her for it. Now that’s truly honest.

Long review but worth it!!! Stay away!!! Took my 95 Lincoln Town Car here for a oil change. Worst decision of my life. First off I go outside with the salesman to go over what work needed to be done only to be asked 2 – 3 times what was going on with the car and we hadn’t even went over all the options! I was told I needed fuel power steering and brake changes. Got the oil change any fuel flush. The oil change went pretty smooth only to take my car outside in the rain and leave the f****** door open the whole time. When it was finally done I was told the fuel injector had been damaged prior to service and that it was a easy fix which they could do for 13 bucks. They said somebody had probably been messing around with the wires and broke it. Problem is I inherited the car from my grandpa, which is also why im so touchy about it, who was the original owner and up until today no one else touched the car for the past 2 years! So wouldn’t it be a good idea to mention a «easy fix» while your under the hood instead of waiting til the end? That made no sense to me. The first time anyone else touched the car since I’ve owned it and it was the biggest regret of my life. Then to top I get home and look the car over and it has hella scratches on the front by the hood. I literally never drive this car and the only time i do for a routine check up it comes back f***** they seem minor but if you really care about your car this is not the place for you. I didn’t make a complaint with them because I was too disgusted and would never let them touch my car again even
to fix a mistake of theirs but on the way out it asks to leave a Unilocal review so here it is.

The guys at Jiffy Lube took care of business when they had an opportunity to flop.
Took my car for an oil change yesterday and figured a 15 – 20 minutes and I would be good to go. After waiting the first 15 minutes due to other customers, I had finally seen the service rep. Somehow I was no longer In their system but regardless set up a new profile.
We got the process started and I left to grab a bite to eat. It was 20 to 6:00 and they close at that time. I figured I would be back by 5:55 to take care of closing paperwork.
I returned at 5:55 and they were having issues with the Internet, after waiting another 10 minutes it seemed to get back up and running. At that time the service guy called me to the counter and began to tell me that in the tire rotation process they were not able to tighten the wheel locks on any of the wheels because the lug key was stripped. Long story short, they ordered new lug nuts w/​key to ensure no further issues and did not charge me a dime for it.
I ended up leaving at 6:45 but didn’t mind because they stepped up and took care of their customer.
Well done guys, Service is king!

My boyfriend and I needed the oil changed in our 2010 Camry, and because the dealership was closed we figured Jiffy Lube would work. We did the usual check-​in and the employee started selling us the partial synthetic oil, my boyfriend stopped her and explained that we wanted full synthetic oil. That’s what our car calls for and what allows it to run for around 10 000 miles without an oil change. She started processing the request again and started talking about the hybrid/​mixed oil. My boyfriend again stated he wanted full synthetic oil. First off, when my car is brought up in their systems, shouldn’t the system be able to determine what oil the dealership uses and the specs? Or does it and Jiffy Lube pushes the hybrid so that people have to come back sooner for more oil changes?
I believe we were quoted about a 45 minute wait, so we left and came back. We could see that our car was still in the queue after about 45 minutes, so around the 1 hour mark it was brought it to be worked on. I assumed that it would take another 20 minutes or some. I swear it took about 6 minutes. I don’t know if that’s a testament to the efficiency of the garage or if they were going too fast for quality work. After paying, they did their usual overview of their work in front of the car (showing fluids, checking filters, etc). Getting into the car, we noticed that the service reminder sticker stated that we needed to return in 3000 miles. Again, with full synthetic, which is what we wanted, calls for a change in 5000 miles. Why are we being told to come back in 3000 miles when that is not what the oil calls for? Realizing that there may be a problem we looked at the receipt and it stated «hybrid blend,» despite us saying at least twice that we want full synthetic. So if it was full synthetic with a weird name, that’s great, but if it’s not full that wasn’t explained to us. Ok fine, we were tired and just wanted to go home.
Upon leaving the station and getting up to a reasonable speed, my boyfriend noticed a very loud noise coming from the car which was definitely not there prior to the oil change. It went away as we stopped at the light but came back as we accelerated. We pulled over to look under the hood and it was then my boyfriend realized that they had left the cabin air filter open and partially bolted (3 of the 4 bolts were in place). The last bolt was in place but the actual plastic holder for the filter was off its setting, resting on top of the housing and they basically pushed down and left it. I’m surprised the plastic wasn’t broken. Of course we don’t have tools with us (and shouldn’t!) to fix it, so we had to drive back and have them do it. The office worker came out to inspect the problem and realized we were telling the truth, so she went to get a technician with the tools. He fixed it and left. They might have apologized but I really don’t remember. Basically, they were done with us and got our money. There wasn’t an offer to double check anything else, a coupon for returning, a discount, nothing. I don’t go into situations expecting to be given free stuff but it would have been nice if they made some form of effort, by apologizing or something, to make me want to return.
I was lucky that my boyfriend was even with me. Without him, I wouldn’t have known or recognized the problem with the air filter. Besides that, I would have been given the incorrect oil for my car (We still might have considering what’s on the receipt) which could result in me returning sooner than necessary. That just comes off as shady to me, offering lower quality oil just to get a repeat customer. What it comes down to is that we went the get our oil changed not out filters. They didn’t need to open everything up to up-​sell us, just to in the end leave it the filter housing open. Basically, their sole job is oil changes and they can’t get that right? We won’t be returning. Serves us right for not going to the dealership.

Had them check out the rotors and pads and they said the rear brake pads were at 3 mm and needed to be changed and the brake fluid flushed. So I had them do that. I noticed my car started pulling to the right after I pulled out of the lot. Took it back the next day and they agreed it probably needed to be aligned but that it was unlikely because of the brake work they did. However, jiffy lube did later offer to pay for the alignment, which is awesome. I later found out out that the discard specification on my rear brake pads are 1 mm, not 3 mm. Wish they would’ve said 3 mm is when they start recommending replacement.

Oil change, 3″ nail in my tire patched and scheduled tire rotation all done with professional friendly courteous service. Yes I’ll be back. Just moved up to the area and was happy to find this place close to the house and pleasantly satisfied with the service and prices. It was a typical mid morning Saturday at any oil chant place so the wait was a bit long but worth it. And checking in on Unilocal gave me a 15% discount on my service.

I was getting an oil change and the mechanic told me that my serpentine belt was extremely cracked and informed me that it would cost $ 100 to replace it. I went and bought a new belt so that I could put it on myself and when I took the old one off, it was in great condition. This leads me to believe that either Jiffy Lube employs incompetent mechanics or that they were trying to take advantage of me. Consumer beware.

We live in Rancho & for the last few years we have had the oil changed at Walmart in Folsom or Roseville. There are dozens of oil/​brake places within 2 miles of home, but we just got tired of the up-​sell. We receive lots of $ 19.99 coupons in the mail every week, but learned this is just to get you in the door… then the sales press is full on. Since I am not a mechanic its always a challenge to wade thru the BS and whats truly needed.
I checked in & chose the 29.00 option. I went for a walk and returned in 25mins to a bill of $ 35 that included all the fee‘s. A more than fair deal…25min‘s/ $ 35 dollars and no BS. (insert Hipster name) ran down all the checked items and shared I didn’t need lots of things but did need a top off of radiator fluid. We added that to the bill and I was off to the coast.
First contact, be it phone or face to face makes or breaks long term business relationships. Give the man a raise… I saw a spot on his arm that needs a Jiffy Lube tattoo.

Terrible place, they lie about what your car needs. They lie about lights being burntout and random oil leaks. They have terrible customer service, and are extremely pushy with upgrades. It also took over an hour to just do an oil change. I will never go back to this Jiffy Lube, and probably won’t ever go to a Jiffy Lube again.

Okay!.. When I write this review you might think that my family, my husband, my son, and someone that I love dearly works there but it’s not the case. I have dealt with Jiffy Lube for the past few years and I have absolutely nothing negative to say about them. Their customer service is OUT STANDING. I can’t speak on what they do for the other customers but for me they make me feel like family. Josh and Indigo are the best. I love them. They are so special to me. I will shout high praise to the entire shop. I’m going to step out and say loved to go to Jiffy Lube Rancho Cordova Olsen Ave. really a great group of people I take my hat off to them. I never imagined the services that they can provide. In my opinion you can trust, believe and relax. Go to Jiffy Lube.

Best customer service I’ve ever had from any mechanic. Always explains what they are doing and what needs to be done. I’ve come in for oil changes, top offs, brake inspection, car sounds that I have no idea what they are. They have fixed everything. Decent and competitive pricing. The staff is very knowledgeable.
A more detailed event: I came in not knowing why my stick shift wasn’t going into any gear. They spent the time to look at it and worked on it so hard and found the problem. Their dedication to make sure I was able to drive my vehicle out of there was amazing.
Sometimes for mechanics it is difficult to know what is wrong when a customer comes in and says my car sounds like this; and the customer makes a random sound, but this jiffy lube staff always gives their thoughts and finds the problems and fixes it. Thanks guys.

Today was the second time I’ve been to this Jiffy Lube. I needed car repair bills like a hole in the head. TJ made the process simple and they did the job on the same day. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for quality work at a fair price.

My car was overheating so we were referred to this location by another jiffy lube. It turned out my radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. They took care of it that day only took a few hours, and was a lot cheaper then expected. They did a great job and my car is running great!

I brought my 2004 CRV in for an oil change. They were fast and friendly. I like how they have a camera on the shop showing on the T.V. in the waiting room. This helps ensure accountability and peace of mind. Not sure of the 29.99 starting cost. Mine ended up being $ 47.06 after tax. I got a coupon off $ 7 and I will try and use my check in offer from Unilocal.So my final cost was $ 36.82. It’s more than what i’m used to paying, but they seem pretty thorough. I only used my $ 7 coupon they wouldn’t let me do both. Also in the waiting room they have free water bottles and coffee. It’s super cool in the waiting room they have the air conditioner on full blast. Wait time was estimated at 25 minutes. Also they offer a free liquid top off service if you come back before you hit 3,000 miles.

I’ve continued to come here to get work done on my car. In the last six months I’ve had oil changes, a tune-​up, new tires, and my timing belt, water pump, and thermostat replaced. They’ve continued to provide excellent, consistent customer service. The guys here are friendly and communicate issues clearly. I’ve ended up waiting a little longer than anticipated a few times (but my car has always been stubborn and difficult to work on for as long as I’ve had it), but the work they do is always worth it.
I still don’t feel like they try to sell me on things I don’t need, nor do I feel taken advantage of. As long as I live in this area I will remain loyal to this jiffy lube. They’re awesome.
