The battery on my 2005 Prius needed to be replaced in December 2014. I called and shopped several Hybrid battery shops in Los Angeles and quotes and warranties were all over the place. For the most part when talking to these companies it was like buying a used car — prices, warranties and the information I received vague and confusing — I wasn’t sure who or what to believe. I found GreenTec Auto Inc. on the internet called them and spoke to Cindy who had an easy to understand program:
* 3 different quality levels of batteries, with
* 3 different pricing levels along with
* 3 different length of warranties.
Her explanation was clear, concise and easy to understand without any of the vague double talk I received from other shops.
I purchased my Battery from GreenTec Auto which is located Northern California however was pleased to find out they had installation service available in Southern California. I purchased the mid level battery with an 18 month warranty. This month (December 2015) a cell in the battery went bad. When the Toyota dealer told me I had a bad cell and I needed a new battery I thought great — I’d be lucky to find the place I bought it from still in business. I got back on the internet again found the telephone number of GreenTec and asked them when I purchased it — Cindy helped me again and told me I had purchased it 12 months ago and asked me if I had had the codes scanned. I sent her the code scan that the Toyota dealer had done and e mailed them to her attention. It wasn’t 15 minutes later she sent me a No-​Charge Warranty repair order and ask a time and location the battery could be replaced. It was 2 days later when the technician come out to my business and had the battery replaced in less than 30 minutes — no hassle and no problems.
I own two Prius’s and I know when I need to replace my other cars battery Green Tec Auto will get my business again.

I drove to the Lothian, MD (outside Washington DC) location to replace the hybrid battery for my 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid. I got the 8 amp battery because the 4-​year warranty was longer than anything I found on the internet and even longer than the Honda dealership warranty. Hybrid batteries aren’t cheap, but I had a great conversation with Phil while he replaced my battery, it was a great trip to Washington DC, and I paid slightly less than the dealership or other third party hybrid battery replacement places. It was well worth it, and now my car drives a little better even on the steep Western PA highways. Thanks, Greentec Auto!

Daniel came to us in Atlanta from the Tampa location to replace the batteries in my fiancé’s Prius. It was super easy to schedule and a very quick install! Looking forward to when they have an office here in Atlanta!

After purchasing a used Prius in October of 2014 I have had the battery fail. Since I spent a great deal on the purchase of my car I wasn’t ready have a major repair. Buying used was my first issue but thank goodness for Greentec Auto.
After getting quotes on replacements I came across this mostly nationwide hybrid repair shop. I showed up half an hour before the shop opened and left with a fully replaced battery 40 minutes after the shop opened. They have warranties on their products and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
If I have to go back I will but my fingers are crossed I won’t need anymore repairs.

So far so good.
I had my 2^nd generation Honda Civic Hybrid serviced there yesterday. The replacement process was quick and easy. Installation only took 30 minutes.
For the 2^nd generation civic Greentec offers 3 different battery options
$ 1595 6.5AMP 18 months unlimited miles warranty
$ 1994 6.5AMP 3 years unlimited miles warranty
$ 2251 8AMP 4 years unlimited miles warranty
Installation costs: If you bring your car to them installation is $ 200. If you want them to do a mobile installation and come to you they charge $ 350 (yes despite the fact they are Sacramento based they will come out to the SF bay area for $ 350).
If you want to compare the how much it costs at the dealer… the cheapest dealer wanted $ 2178 for a replacement battery (3 year, 36K warranty) plus $ 350 for installation. So if you compare the dealer to the 3 year warranty greentec battery the prices are 2528 (2178+350 install) and 2019 (1994+200 install-​175 coupon) respectively… a savings of $ 509. If you went with the cheapest battery with the 18 month warranty you would save $ 908 compared to the dealer.
In the end I ended up buying the 8AMP battery with the four year warranty since I was able to get my hands on a $ 175 coupon code from their facebook page. I opted for the 8AMP battery because it had the longest warranty with no mileage restrictions. The no mile limit is really important to me since I have 205K miles on my 2008 civic. If I purchased my battery from the dealer I probably would have used up my warranty in 1.5 years.
In regards to the performance of the battery… so far so good… my old battery was averaging 38MPG (the old battery had 11% capacity/​life left). With the new one I am now averaging about 39MPG around town and 43MPG on the highway and the car feels a bit more powerful.
I also would like to note that I also called the Hybrid Shop (both Bay Area locations, Novato and San Carlos); their prices/​warranty were close to the dealer pricing with same warranty. In my assessment if Greentec was not an option I would have selected the dealer over the Hybrid Shop.
TIP: check their facebook page. Around all major holidays they tend to post a $ 175 off coupon code toward the purchase of a battery.

The customer service by the front office lady was very pleasant, everybody else was horrific. I purchased a battery and it lasted for 7 months or so then light came back on. Took it to my mechanic and they explained that the battery levels are different and the hybrid battery needs to be replaced. Greentec then supplied me with another battery and 5 days later the same thing happened. Waiting on a call back now to see what they want to do. But i’m tired of dealing with these issues.

I used GreenTec auto’s mobile installation service to install a refurbished battery with 18 month warranty into my 2008 Prius. Service, both at my home and on the phone, was impeccable.
I cannot recommend highly enough.

Not sure if this is the right place to leave a review for the national company but here goes… Just ordered a new IMA battery from Greentec because I was so OVER being beholden to Honda for more money with crappy warranties. The 4 year, unlimited mileage warranty is what sold me with Greentec (for contrast Honda’s 3 yr/36,000 miles battery lasted me to 2 yrs 4 months & 41,000 miles – SO not worth another $ 3800 on an 11 year old car!)
I ordered my battery from the DC office, the sales rep was personable, knowledgeable and they shipped it the next day. (in contrast to Honda ordering FROM JAPAN and taking 2 weeks and me having to give my VIN # so that that battery could only be installed in my car.)
My dealer installed a week ago, and so far it’s running great– mileage is even slightly better than the previous battery. Cautiously optimistic that this was a wise decision. :)

These guys were freakin’ awesome! Our 06′ Prius’ hybrid battery bit it, and the folks at Greentec had the old battery out and a remanufactured one on board within one hour. And to top it off, the ECM module in our car was having issues and they got that straightened out as well, at no additional charge. The gentleman at the front desk was extremely sociable, and was happy to answer my laundry list of questions about the batteries, the remanufacturing process, and so-​on. Our fix-​it shop had recommended Greentec, and out-​the-​door was about $ 1600 for a 2^nd gen battery (our battery was 1^st gen) with a 18 month warranty, and a service promise that if we needed to have any codes pulled to just stop by. Great people, great deal!

The battery in my 2008 Toyota Prius deteriorated last month, at about 163,000 miles, when I went to the Maita Toyota dealership in Sacramento, CA and they told me it would cost $ 3,000+ to replace the battery and even more for diagnostics, labor, and inspections.
I started searching online and found Greentec Auto, called them up and they told me to bring my car over and they would take care of everything. Well, I had a friend tow the prius over to their shop in Rancho Cordova and they inspected it and told me I had 2 options to replace the battery.
1 being to get the basic battery pack for around $ 1,300, and 2 being the upgraded battery with new cells for about $ 2,300. I decided to get the one with new cells, it took them less than 2 hours to finish all the work and I was able to drive my prius home that day! The battery seemed to perform better than when I got the car new.
I have got to hand it to these guys, I have been to hundreds of shops in the area who have tried to make an extra buck off me by throwing random BS at me, like that I need to change my headlight fluid (seriously WTF?) and trying to add weird labor and handling charges that were never discussed beforehand. But Greentec’s shop seems to cut through all the bs and be very straightforward about the issues and how to fix them. When I talked to the owner Tim (who I found out is a veteran) about this, he told me they were trying to build a reputation as a true and honest shop. I also found out that they give veterans a $ 100 discount, nice to see someone supports the veterans :)
Anyways, I’d like to thank you Greentec Auto for being awesome and giving me a pleasant impression of your business! Will definitely refer friends with any problems to you, and if my Camry hybrid will have any problems, I now know where to go!

I own a first generation 2002 Prius and it had all the Hybrid lights flashing and was unable to be driven or restarted… Greetec was able to discern it wasn’t the hybrid system or the catalytic converter which had an engine code, but was not causing the problem… they quickly diagnosed the issue and was able to do it very economically. I highly recommend their shop and they also try to help those on a fixed budget like students and retirees:)

Superior service!!! Best service I have experienced in a long
time. They were honest and the installation was done in very little time. Steve was my installer and he is the most knowledgeable guy. He even tested the car to be sure that the battery was the issue with the car before replacing it. I would definitely recommend
this company to anyone looking for a battery for a Prius. Total cost was $ 1700
with installation and was done in my driveway. Dealer quoted $ 4600.
