The Residence At the Cor

We really enjoy the washer and dryer in our apartment. We love the outdoor patio each apartment has along with the pool and grills for summer nights. But here is the problem. Whoever designed the apartments was not thinking Minnesota weather. They get frost on the inside of the windows and get completely frozen and we have noticed mold starting to form on them. I also can tell that the windows are not sealed because we can feel the cold winter breeze coming through them. The bathroom has an super loud fan that you can’t turn off. Our patio door didn’t seal over the summer and we had ladybugs crawling all over the ceiling. Our hallway for our apartment has no heat which causes our furnace to run all the time. They are very inconsiderate when it comes to paying rent. You have to have rent paid right on the first day, a day late and they charge ridiculous fees. I wish they would be more considerate with their renters and understand that certain things come up and they should change their turning in rent policy to two-​three days to turn it in. They take forever to fix the amenities. At one time, they only had one grill working for like a month and the tanning bed was out for almost two months.

I love living here! Great amenities, nice neighbors, clean building and helpful staff. It’s a beautiful complex and I plan on staying for a long time. My electric bill in the winter is never over $ 45. Don’t quite understand how other residents would have a $ 300 bill?

Was great at 1^st but then winter hit so did 300 a month heating bills! Turns out contract issue they put in wrong Windows! We’re promised they would replace but new owners have no intention of doing it. Front patio door leaks when it rains no repair mold in Windows no repair! They fired the one Maintanace man that got work done all because he had not so good credit! Lease comes up they want another 175 a month to go month to month we were charged $ 75.00 more a month for doing a 6 month lease. Really? that’s how you keep tenants that pay rent on time? Pool is hit or miss were told it was slime green due to lighting storm? didn’t happen last year when you had qualified maintenance! Guest have pool parties that pretty much force out tenants from enjoying pool. I can say for the rent 1500+ a month and a «fee» every month for them sending you a utility bill it’s not worth it. Rent a house or take on a mortgage payment you at least will have control to fix things when wrong.

At a glance The Residence at the Cor looks like a great place to live. It’s new, it has a heated pool, a lounge, a gym, it’s next to the North Star station, etc. Take a closer look and you’ll see all the flaws. It was clearly constructed in a rush. All of the marble countertops are miscut and don’t fit properly so they’re globbed with sealant to make up for the gaps. The paint is slopped on door frames with overspray on the flooring. The walls weren’t even painted, it seems to be some sort of powdery primer. The unit wasn’t thoroughly cleaned before move in either, dust everywhere and weird stains on the wall. The windows were improperly installed and ice over heavily in the winter. This is all pretty minor in comparison to the atrocious treatment of residents.
It all starts in the office where the staff is unable or unwilling to help with most issues, though they’ll always have a smile while they don’t help you. If you go higher up you’re in for more frustration. The Area Director is incredibly rude and she will outright ignore you. Customer service suffers from all the same issues. It takes weeks to get responses from Weidner employees. Months go by and issues still aren’t even close to solved. I’m almost certain they all went through training in ignoring problems (or «problem» residents) until they just go away. There are also pet restrictions which they don’t bother adhering to, so good luck if you live in a unit near an obnoxious or large dog.
Weidner bought this property from Flaherty & Collins. That transition blew my mind, they put up notices on our doors the very day they took over. Which is to say no notice at all. They have 2 – 3 office workers and 1 – 2 maintenance staff for an apartment building that has 230 units. Their primary concern is to fill the units and nothing more, regardless of any lines they feed you about caring for the community. It’s a terrible feeling being made so uncomfortable in your place of living, especially when the cost is so high. Sickening, really.
I would avoid anything Weidner touches, they’re fairly well known for treating people like garbage.
