I have Eaten here for years. Love the thin crust pizza and the pitchers of beer. Bar filled with locals is a little small, It can get busy but for a quick (not so cheap) pizza night its a good place.

Stop by for a bit to eat, I order a pie. The pizza was so soggy that it fell all over the place. The taste was off and cheese was very oily. I am very upset because I read such good reviews. Waiter wasn’t nice at all when I told her that the pizza was falling apart. Payed my bill and I left. I give this place a star and ¹⁄₂

Bad Pizza, Bad Service, Bad Wines keep on driving by to the next stop. Don’t waste your money

So I finally made it to Kinchleys, nice place, ordered a side of meatballs, garlic bread and a bowl of chicken soup. All were very good, then we ordered a large plain Pizza. The Pizza was OK… not great .I’m a big fan of thin crust Pizza but this pie was was just ok, and with all the hype about this place I was disappointed. I’ve been going to the Star Tavern in Orange for 50 plus years and to me that is the best Pizza in NJ.

I’ve been really underwhelmed with Kinchley’s. I’ve been there a few times, and while the prices are reasonable, the food is always sub par. If you really like thin crust pizza I guess that’s the only reason to go.

Parking is hit or miss and they do not credit cards.

This past weekend I actually took my family with me on this trip out to New Jersey and New York City. Some friends of my wife had mentioned Kinchley’s. Then, when I started asking some of my friends and coworkers in the area, they were all familiar with it. That being said, we had to give it a shot.
We ordered ahead and picked it up to bring back to the hotel. Its a quite small place. When you go inside, it really has a neighborhood bar /​pizza place feel to it. Small and quiet.
We ordered two large pizzas. A large cheese and a large Fra Diavolo. They only do thin crust. As I heard the lady behind the bar say to another customer, «there is only one kind».
When I say thin, they mean thin. I believe the thinnest crust pizza I’ve ever had in my life. It still has that New York /​New Jersey floppy Pizza feel to it. It was quite good. I must admit. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite pizza but it was very easy to eat a lot of. So you’re almost going to want to order twice what you normally do because it is not very filling due to how thin the crust is. But that is not a bad thing.
The cheese was good. The Fra Diavolo was also good. Not as spicy as I expected it to be but it had a little bit of the zesty zip to it. I’d recommend it.
Would I go back? Yeah, I would. Definitely. In fact, the next time I’m in town for business I’ll probably go there for some drinks after work and pizza for dinner. Nice quiet place. Good people inside too.

I’m usually a «suck it up» type of person about bad food and service, but I couldn’t help but to leave a review about Kinchley’s Tavern. My GF took me there based on her hearing that Kinchley’s was a good pizza place. The service was positive, unfortunately the food was something I wouldn’t serve to my dog. I’m a huge Fried Calamari fan, and… I was so incredibly disappointed when I received what looked like Fried Calamari, but was really chewy slime underneath fried bread crumbs. Definitely wholesale frozen «calamari». Please, if you’re running a professional business, make everything in house. The plate presentation reminded me of something you would get at a public pool food stand.
My GF ordered a chicken salad, which was a pool of oily salad dressing and undercooked, limp, unappealing pathetic chicken. Still, it was the best part of the visit. This doesn’t say much.
Our main meal was pizza split between us. Half plain, half onion mushroom. The pizza was pure runny orange oily cheese. The onions had a fishy flavor to it, which my GF confirmed without me bringing up. The onions contaminated the mushrooms so I can’t comment about them.
I returned the Calamari and Chicken from the salad, which was scratched off the tab. Total came out to $ 24.
This meal was just as bad as the meal we had at «Fire and Oak»… at least Kinchley’s server walked to our table.

Not my typical choice in pizza style but their el diablo spicy pizza is really, really good. We go here for lunch sometimes as a large group and they always handle us well and get our food out efficiently so we are in and out quickly to get back to work. Note that it is cash only.

Wow… Thinnest brick oven pizza possible. So thin my family normally orders 3 pies for 5 people and appetizers. Plain cheese pie or meatball never disappoints. Zucchini sticks and calamari are great to start as well. It gets insanely crowded on a Friday or Saturday night so definitely suggest making a reservation unless you don’t mind waiting for 1 – 2 hours. There’s a bar inside for drinks. Remember it’s cash only!

Love Kinchley’s! Delicious pizza, tasty brews, great atmosphere, friendly staff. I’m usually not a fan of thin-​crust, but their pizza is seriously addictive. The sauce-​cheese-​toppings ratio is spot on. Great for family dinner or a casual date. It’s not a big place, but when we brought our family visiting from the UK (party of 13), Kinchley’s was more than accommodating. Such a great staff! For my mom’s birthday last year, they took my phone call request from California to sing happy birthday to her and sent the video to me! Kinchley’s is definitely our go-​to spot for a night of delicious pizza n’ beers.

Holy crap… I just ate a medium pizza by myself. Wait… what? I ate a whole medium pizza. And a local brew.
Ok…that was the James Bond formula… hook you w an action statement. .then peel it back. Here we go…
Walking on its got a good hometown feel. It’s old. Feels. like regulars come. We don’t have this in S FL Waitresses super nice. I think mine was Nieves. A tiny thing. When I say I want to order a small pizza she asks me if I’m sure. …she eats a large by herself. So as to not seem wussy i ordered the medium. And we all know what happens when you give me a medium pizza?
Don’t come here for an authentic NY slice… this is a bit different… cracker thin. But overall tasty!

Full disclosure; I dislike thin crust pizza. It drives me crazy when someone says what is essentially a matzoh cracker with cheese on top is a pizza. That being said, I will admit that this thin crust pizza is decent. And addictive. In fact it’s the best cheese and crackers you can have. My Bergen County born and bred boyfriend introduced me to this place, and to him this remains the paragon of perfect pizza. For me? It’s really one of very few thin crust pies I will eat. Perhaps they deserve some praise for achieving that.
Despite their pizza being decent I do have to complain that the portion sizes are a bit odd. All their pizzas are teeny tiny, and a medium barely fed two people. If you’re going with a large group, be prepared to get a lot of pies!
In terms of the restaurant itself I was not impressed. The rest of their menu seemed unappetizing and average, and I feel their dining room needs some renovation. I know they were going for a ‘log cabin’ look but it feels dark and dim as opposed to intimate and cozy. Also they didn’t seem to have anything great on tap in their tavern section.
Overall an average experience. Go for the pizza, at least to try it once (even if you don’t like thin crust).

This place was great. We got there for an early lunch so we had our pick of the tables and it was quiet, well pretty quiet. Someone put a song on the jukebox, that I never heard before, but which made «In a Gadda Da Vida» sound like the Beatles. I mean nothing but the sound of screaming and screeching for like 20 minutes. Anyway…
Our waitress, who at first looked like she was born tired and raised lazy, handled our complicated order (some food for eating in the restaurant, some for taking home, well done, dressing on the side, etc) perfectly. When she didn’t write anything down, I was sure we were in for a disaster, but quiet waters run deep — she didn’t miss a trick.
Food was super (pizza and meat ravioli), place is cool looking, and the waitress has a memory like an elephant.

Let me begin by saying that the atmosphere and ambiance are awesome. The space is cozy and convivial, filled with laughter and conversation – exactly the kind of place to knock back a few beers and slices. Service is earnest and adequate for such a busy place. However, there is a lot of great pizza to be had in the NY/​NJ/​CT area, and Kinchley’s is average at best. The toppings are tasty and the sauce is adequate, but the vaunted thin crust lacks character, other than serving as a vehicle to convey cheese and sauce to mouth.
Come to Kinchley’s. You’ll probably have a pretty good time, and the pies serve their purpose in soaking up alcohol for the drive home. Put these pizzas in the Midwest and they’re 3.5 star worthy, but it’s hard to rate Kinchley’s higher in the home region of American pizza.

Great thin crust pizza! Friendly staff ! ‘Nuf said!

Kinchleys has been regarded has the best thin crust pizza in NJ. I would have to agree with that. I alway get the bacon pizza and the meatball pizza. The bacon on the bacon pizza is actually strips of bacon and not crumbled unlike other pizzas. The meatballs as well is cut in half — not crumbled. The crust, as you would expect it, very thin and crispy.
They have unlimited raviolis on Monday nights and unlimited linguini on Tuesday nights.

Third stop on «The Pizza Project 2015» and after last week’s misstep with Star Tavern not living up to the (over)hype — it was nice to hit a place that wasn’t originally in the cards but we found ourselves just a town away and figured ‘why not?’.
Massive parking lot. Large cow hovering over the entrance. Bathrooms that looks like they haven’t been upgraded since it opened in 1937. A patron in the booth behind me with rapid leg movement that made it hard to enjoy myself. Cash only. So many mixed signals I wasn’t sure what to expect. But then I looked up to see a solid beer list and Allagash White specifically made me know we had a winner on our hands.
«Just one? That’s not enough.» — our waitress was well aware we hadn’t been there before and a family of four needed two pies.
Both pies (the thinnest pizza I ever had before) were polished off in no time. They excelled on everything Star Tavern doesn’t (a consistent pie with even crust all around and not burned beyond repair at odd points).
I just wish the booth was a wee bit bigger since it was chaotic when you have two of those pizza-​tower-​holder things on there with various plates and drinks and all your table real estate is gone.

Ah memories… This place will forever be a favorite spot when my friends and I visit our parents. As we said today while sitting at the table, if we’re here for over 24 hours, Kinchley’s is a must visit on our list. In the city, we have tons of great pizza spots, but nothing will quite compare to the pizza you get here at Kinchley’s.
First of all, the interior of this place hasn’t changed in all the years I’ve been coming here. The tables are packed in tight, with checkered red and white tablecloths, old school style.
The pizzas are thin crust. When I say thin crust, I mean thin crust. The slices are teeny tiny, can be eaten in 3 – 4 bites. A large pie will have about 16 slices and can be split with one other person.
The best part is how you can make up any pizza combination as you please. My friends and I have our classic which we’ve named the «MOG» pie. MOG standing for meatball garlic and onion. Not for the faint of heart. They don’t use your ordinary garlic powder, they chop up garlic and mix it right into the sauce. It’s just glorious.
The prices are great too, a large pie will run you $ 12 – 15 depending on your toppings. Beers are about $ 5 a glass too. The only thing that sucks is that it’s cash only. But as long as you’re prepared, it’s fine.
This iconic place will forever be a hometown favorite.
