I loved my visit to this place. I was looking for a specific lens and new camera bag. They were extremely helpful and I ended up spending hundreds less then what I was expecting to spend.

What a lifesaver! What great customer service! What a great place! I have all these things to say and more about the wonderful staff at Southeastern Camera and Supply. This morning I went there seeking some help with a Sony Handycam and some video I had shot on the camera. Johnny, Neto, Molly, and Drew worked their magic and quickly (and with a smile) downloaded the video I needed onto a CD… the were gracious and kind to assist me. I arrived there frustrated as I had just before arriving there visited with a competitor whose staff was UNFRIENDLY, RUDE, AND CONDESCENDING! That business is located on Peace Street.
Southeastern has gained a new customer! And I must say, I will spread the word through social media (and other means) about their helpfulness and friendliness. They are the BEST!

I’ve been visiting Southeastern as a professional photographer for quite some time. While I’ve gotten to know the staff by name it occurred to me their level of service had never really changed in the past 10 years. They’ve always been super helpful with their recommendations but never «hovered» while I was looking around. I recommend all of my photographer friends, both enthusiast and professional, to use them as their local photography supplier as they have a good equipment supply for both skill levels.

I love this place! I’ve sold and bought a few things here and always felt like i got a good price on old gear I was trading in. The store is a bit cluttered but I don’t mind it.
The best part about this store is the staff. Many times I’ve gone in and not bought anything but still end up spending an hour or more just talking to the staff.
If they don’t have what you need just ask! Most likely they can order it for you. I love that there are still brick and mortar stores where you can go talk to people and not just take a risk on a bog purchase like a camera online. They also rent gear as well.

I visited the shop about a month ago immediately prior to a trip. A friend convinced me I should invest in a full-​frame camera, and I decided on a Nikon D610 after some online research, but was still unsure what lenses to buy.
I’ve had bad experiences in stores like this before where they basically try to sell you half the shop if they realize you’re not an expert. My experience here was almost exactly the opposite. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and not pushy at all. I got a great setup for a reasonable price, and they didn’t push anything.
In fact, if I had any complaints, it’s that they were really conservative in suggesting lenses for the trip — as it turns out, I would have really benefited from a more powerful lens for the trip. Luckily, I was on a guided tour (by Natural Habitat) and the rover driver lent me a 400 mm for the second day on the tundra.
But, overall, I think it’s a great shop — it’s a little cluttered and hard to find things without assistance, but the folks there are really nice and helpful. When I do buy a larger lens for my next adventure, I will absolutely do so here.

This store is awesome! However, it isn’t the products that make this place great, it is the customer service! I’ve been in there twice to get some supplies because I’m trying to learn a different aspect of photography that I am not used to and each time the person who helped me spent extra time and went above and beyond to try and help me not only get what I needed but also gave me some tricks for what I was doing. These people and this place rocks! I will definitely be back, simply due to the fact they know what great customer service is!

Horrible customer service. When in to buy multiple items for a recent college grad with a passion for photography. I was in the store for quite sometime, sever employee saw me but none spoke. Two were with customers but still didn’t acknowledge me as I was very obviously waiting for service. When I entered I was not greeted although the two staff behind the counter were NOT with customers and just watched me walk by.

So helpful, efficient, and knowledgeable especially for an amateur photographer. Recommend these guys!

Purchased a new Canon 70D this week. Tony was very pleasant to deal with. Knowledgeable, professional, helpful. Pricing was comparable with the best internet sites. Highly recommend. Research online. Buy local!!!

I just enjoy coming to look at the new and old camera. They are amazingly competitive in price and willing to work with quality trade-​ins as well. The rental cost are fair and a great way to try something out. The biggest feature of buying a digital camera with interchangeable lens is that they offer free sensor cleaning if you buy the camera from them.

The best customer service I have ever experienced. Best camera store in the state.

Love this place, I’ve been a customer of both Southeastern and Peace but when I go into this place I don’t feel like I’m being snubbed by a bunch of elitist, old money, turd burglars that act like your small potatoes unless your buying a $ 2000, 80 giga pixel, carbon fiber mono pod.
These guys always seem to be friendly and even when I haven’t been in for awhile, they still remember my name, like I’m the Walter White of North Raleigh. That’s why I keep coming back. Good service and a huge selection.

This is the best camera store in Raleigh, the staff is awesome. You don’t have to be a photographer or pretend you are one, the staff is always ready to answer questions and provide options. I have been shopping for most of my camera stuff here for years.

I visited the store to find a close-​up attachment for my new Nikon D5300. I’m new to DSLR.
First, I should say that they had a couple of different options to offer. They took the time to explain some of the adapter size parameters, and right there it was worth the visit — I figured out I had to return something I’d purchased on-​line elsewhere.
Two younger guys were helping me. The first was not quite completely versed in the Nikon equipment for close-​up photography, but still knew quite a bit and was honest about questions he was unsure of. The second guy was more experienced. I learned about extension tubes, but ended up buying a simple magnifying filter.
Outside, the store front is situated at the corner of a nondescript flex building, on an unremarkable corner of Atlantic and Hodges streets. It is a _​extremely_​understated presence for what the business offers. I would guess that their main customer base of professionals does not require a flashy exterior.
Inside, the store is a mess. No, really, it seems like a huge spare room turned into a makeshift storage area. Old music businesses sometimes seem like this too. There is a lot for the professional or serious amateur to browse and plenty of new equipment. Staff and customers constantly step aside for one another — sorry, excuse me — and conversations seem too open. They could definitely improve their own workflow and the experience of customers by putting a little more organization to the clutter. I’m not sure how in the world they manage to keep track of inventory, and it does make browsing feel odd, feeling a little like a flea market.
As far as selection goes, they had a few attachments that would fit my camera — enough that I made a purchase — but the number of filters was limited. It may be that they had stuff stacked up somewhere else. There was quite a lot of other equipment — it is a serious photography shop. The pricing was not that important to me, but they seemed to cater to those who want value/​higher quality rather than budget/​low cost.
Rating them four rather than five stars, just because of the disorganized clutter.

Although i am not a photographer, I spend a lit of time in camera shops with my wife — she’s the photographer. The staff here is terrifically helpful, and go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your purchases.
Their hours can make it a little difficult to get there, but it is worth the effort! Lots of used gear at a discount, too.

Very helpful staff (except for one lady who had to keep asking someone else to get answers to my questions)!! They had a wide range of supplies, and I only wish I’d had more time to look around.
I don’t normally write reviews, but their website did NOT sufficiently represent their business… everything you might need. And if they don’t have it, they are more than happy to order it and have it shipped to you! They even took off some $$ from the price tag of two of my items! Always a way to win my vote!!! I’m a very satisfied customer!

I found myself in a real bind with a broken camera and a looming deadline. So, what a delight to have the courteous, informative, and helpful folks at Southeastern Camera bail me out! Their service was a striking difference from other stores that quipped «we don’t usually work on those little cameras.» (a $ 600 Fuji FinePix S6100? I know it’s old but geez… «little?»)
I brought in my «little» broken camera, they helped me retrieve my photos from the memory cards, were patient in explaining the features of other comparable cameras, and seemed to have all the time in the world to meet my every need. And pleasant conversation to boot! What a pleasure!

Their store is like a car showroom for photography enthusiasts: books, magazines, vests, bags, lighting, umbrellas, and of course, cameras, lenses, flashes, filters, cards, and much more. They do printing, repair and even offer classes!

Southeastern Camera is a great resource for professional photographers, amateurs, and those somewhere between the two. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and willing to help you in whatever you need.
One of the best parts is that they have a great selection of used cameras and lenses. They will make sure the used merchandise is cleaned and operable.
About a year ago I replaced my aging and faltering Nikon digital with a upgraded used one. It has worked flawlessly. Today I needed to replace a lens that I had been told elsewhere would cost $ 179 to repair and $ 199 to replace. I decided to check out the options at SE Camera, and purchased a nice used Nikon lens at about $ 100. Before I made the purchase I was encouraged to walk outside and take a few shots with this lens to see if I liked it. Finally before I left the store the lens and my camera, including the senors, were cleaned at no cost.
Good to see such excellent service still exists.
