Quick, convenient stop to get good BBQ. I always opt for the Value Pack — a BBQ sandwich with coleslaw, hushpuppies instead of fries and a Sprite. Service is always quick and the food is always tasty.

Chicken is delicious and fresh. I like the hush puppies and the potato salad too. I wish they had a couple more choices of sides. I have always had great service at the drive through.

We come here regularly. The service is good and the food is great. Typically, we get the BBQ sandwiches, but the brunswick stew is great as well. I am not a fan of coleslaw, but it is yummy on the BBQ sandwiches. It gives a little sweet crunch to the sandwich. Would recommend them when you have a craving for BBQ because this would fit the bill!

horrible service! went there for lunch with family for a «get together» and it was highly over priced on meals and their cleanliness I would rate on a scale of one to five being a one, because it wasn’t clean there. food was all over the floor and I nearly fell trying to get around. tables weren’t cleaned either. the food is too greasy. wondering how someone could eat that mess. would I recommend? heck no. first and last time for me.

A great BBQ spot with a sink right in the main dining room to scrub those greasy fingers. I had a pulled pork sandwich: excellent. If you are used to sauce on the meat, that’s not going to happen here. The slaw is vinegar based: very good! Sweet and regular tea! Lots of yummy desserts. I think this is a chain, but it was my first experience here and I really liked it. It’s pretty much fast food as there is no waitstaff & you order at the counter.

This particular restaurant means a great deal to me. Some of my fondest memories growing up happened here. The food is spectacular — that is to say, if you like other Smithfield’s you’ll like this one. If you don’t like Smithfield’s then what are you doing here? Wastin’ e’rybudy’s time. I have since moved away from Wake County, graduated college, married and became a father. But, every time I’m within an hour of this Smithfield’s, I make a visit. It’s where I took my girlfriends years ago, where my father told me he had cancer, where we went during his recovery, and where we went after he was cured. It’s where I introduced my future wife to my extended family and where I took her and my daughter on our first family trip. This is where I fell in love with BBQ. I might have given this place a 5 star rating… but it gets 5 hearts in my book(…maybe I’ll need 5 good hearts after all the pork I’ve stuffed in my system). No regrets.

I’ve had their BBQ sandwiches quite a few times and they are quite tasty — especially with the slaw which many people omit. However, they do tend to be salty as my hands tell on that the next day. Inside, the place is spotless and has ample seating for even larger groups. I’ve never had their fried chicken but judging from the parking lot during peak times, it is quite popular. Overall, they are average for BBQ mainly because they are more fast-food oriented. They do provide a student discount and being located near the local community college, that can be handy for students on the run.

I typically like BBQ. I have also heard good personal reviews about Smithfield’s BBQ. Today must have been an exception. First, there was only 3 people working the entire store. The wait was a bit longer than expected. The person working the front end also was helping the kitchen and helping the drive-thru. About 3 patrons were inside… and they didnt seem pleased. I placed an order for 2BBQ dinners. For 2 plates nearly came to $ 20 without drinks. The hushpuppies were cold. Decent flavor but could have been better if served hot or warm. The baked beans were runny and stringy without much flavor — also served below recommended temperatures(a safety violation). As for the potato salad was not bad. Finally the BBQ was overly dry and lacked any flavor at all. It was a huge disappointment to myself and guest. The establishment was clean overall. A customer could be overhead exiting that«this was the last time they would come». I had the same feeling. The service was friendly at the frontend. However the food quality was not worth the cost and very poor in presentation, serving size and quality.

The chicken was ok. Bojangles and KFC are better. The bbq was awful. The fries are plain, the hush puppies were the only thing I liked.

This place is deadly… deadly delicious that is. I couldn’t recall when the last time I went by Smithfield’s to eat, but since I had a gift certificate and they offered a student discount I decided to stop in. On the outside it just seems like a normal brick building, but on the inside the staff set this place apart from the rest. All of the staff that I interacted with were extremely friendly from the order taker to the lady that walks around taking everybody’s trays and refilling their drinks. This is how the process works. First, you have to decide what succulent mouth watering item you want to eat, and what sides to enjoy along with it. After you finish informing them of your food choices, you are politely asked for your name. Second, you have a seat and wait for your meal to be delivered. Mine was ready by the time I finished placing my order. When they called my name I was going to carry my tray to my seat, but the nice older lady wouldn’t let me have my food. She asked me where I was sitting and carried my food to my table. At first I thought I was super special, then I noticed they did that for everybody. Third, you sit down and enjoy. The food was extremely good. My main regret was not ordering more. That is how tasty it was. It was all juicy, tender and succulent. I ordered the dark platter, which happened to be on sale for $ 1 off. It came with a leg, thigh, 2 side and hush puppies. You don’t get a drink, so you have to order that extra. My sides were fries and coleslaw, and all were delicious. As I was eating the food I thought, «Man, something this tasty can’t be good for you.» The fourth thing that happens is the ‘itis’ sets in, and you need to find a place to take a nap. I just have to make sure that when I eat here again, it is on my way home, and not on my way back to class, since I was straight sleeping on the front row in front of the instructor. So like I said, the food is deadly delicious, so don’t eat too much.

Smithfield’s is finger-lickin’, artery clogging, food coma inducing good! I’ve never been to their physical location but have tried the food on 2 occasions at alumni picnics. That Eastern NC style bbq has the right balance of tangy and savory. You can also add more vinegar and spice if you so choose. The fried chicken is the truth — absolutely authentic and very crispy. Potato salad and cole slow? Amazing. The cole slaw is particularly unique — it tastes lighter than other cole slaws I’ve had. And to top it off, the hush puppies are perfectly fried, buttery. Verdict: Sure my skin broke out slightly after a weekend of eating Smithfield’s fried leftovers but that’s a small price to pay for bbq this delicious.

Got dinner at Smithfield’s because I was seriously craving fried chicken. I got the Combo Dark Platter, which came with a thigh, leg, pork, hush puppies, coleslaw, and potato salad. The leg was nice and juicy but really under seasoned. The thigh had better seasoning but the meat was really dry. The shredded pork was dry and bland. Allen & Sons has nothing to worry about! The potato salad and coleslaw were both drowning in dressing, with the potato salad completely dominated by the flavor of sweet pickle relish and the coleslaw being too sweet as well. The only decent thing on the platter were the hush puppies. Disappointing!
