History

Established in 1957.

For over 50 years we have served the Raleigh area as a family owned and operated business. We take great pride in the fact most of our customers are repeat customers who, in turn, recommend us to their friends and neighbors.

In 1957, Mr. George Rose left his employment with a local dealership to open his own business, Rose Transmission Repair on South Sanders Street.

At the same time, a neighbor for Mr. Rose, Mr. Steve Hayes, opened a garage, Supreme Brake and Alignment at 419 Glenwood Avenue. In time, three of Mr. Roses’ sons (Kenneth, Gurney and Bob) came to work for their dad and the name was changed to Rose and Sons Auto Service. The scope was expanded to include general auto repair in addition to specializing in transmissions. The business was relocated to its present location in the early 1980s.

Meanwhile, Mr. Steve Hayes’s son, Bruce, returned from military service and went to work for his dad at Supreme Brake and Alignment. Eventually, the sons assumed control of each busine
