Raleigh Denim Workshop + Curatory

Walked in on a recently adventure in North Carolina. The selection was great and being able to view the cutters and sewers as they produce denim was amazing. The employees are truly artisans at what they do. When I arrived, there were a few people ahead of me (1 store employee and 2 dressing rooms) so I had to wait a few minutes (nothing to terrible). After asking a few questions about sizing (I am a weird size) and comparable denim, I was in the dressing room trying on a pair. The normal size I tend to wear was too big (hooray)and the next size down was perfect. Not only did I purchase the pair but am enticed to see what Raleigh Denim does next. The best part of the experience was hemming is done quickly (you don’t have to wait a week like most tailors), on –site and easily (30 minute wait since 5 pairs were ahead of me and just the right amount of time to get some lunch).

I was so stoked to finally get a pair of these back in August. At first I loved them, took care of them, and wore them almost every day.
Nine months passed and they were about to wear out in several places, most notably the crouch (and no, I never ride a bike with them on). I was a little alarmed, considering a $ 50 pair of Levi’s last longer than 9 months, so I took them into to see if they could replace them or help me out.
The lady at the shop simply said «Oh yeah, they always wear out there.» She said she could send them away to be patched up (do I really want pants this expensive to be «patched up?») but it would take many weeks because they don’t do it in house. In the end she just gave me a square piece of denim so I could take it somewhere else or do it myself.
If you’re really looking for a pair of high quality jeans that are built to last, Raleigh Denim is not for you. Certainly not worth the extraordinary price tag.

Walked in to the store and talked to a woman working the floor, asked for my size and was told «yeah, we don’t usually make that size, we might have some in black, but you should really try [size that’s smaller] because they stretch after wearing.» Never offered to find a pair in my size, never offered to take an order for my size. Just «nope, sorry.»
Pity, you’d think a place that prides itself on making its own jeans would actually offer to make a pair to order. Was excited about buying something local-​made, even if was going to cost me a few bucks extra, disappointed their service is so poor.

OK, redeemed. My friend wrote a note to the owner who was absolutely upset and apologetic for the poor treatment we received. He has since been quite gracious and generous. I would give them another chance — perhaps this incident will preclude others like it.

I am sure the jeans are great. But who issues gift certificates that only last a year. Very disappointed with the customer service of this company.

We popped in to the shop from Cali and were blown away by the store. Asher’s denim knowledge, approachability, and customer service rendered nothing less than impeccable… Flawless! And YES– She woke up like that! Haha.

Finally I make it in to Raleigh Denim ! They were having a Guided Tour of their «Factory» for the Downtown «First Friday» Event! Greg had reminded me that sometimes to have something going on for the Event! They were keeping it Cool in there!
Fantastik Great Looking, Masculine (in a Good way), Cool Sales Shop and Nice Looking Work Shop! People were looking at the Clothes for sale, though when we were their, most of the visitors were gathered in the factory for the Tour of the facility! GREAT Idea!
SilverFly in Charlotte was the first place I had seen «Raleigh Denim» (over a year ago) then my Girlfriend and I were visiting the Neighboring Art Galleries (about a week later) and I was surprised to see their Shop! Last Night was my first visit!
My eBay Bride and I brought a friend and I would go back for a Tour of the Process of Building Clothes!

Raleigh Denim is the real deal. I get compliments on them and they have aged wonderfully. The fit, drape and hang are all perfect. I wear them almost exclusively and have yet to wash them (and hope I never have to). Do I look 6’2″ and like I can leap tall buildings in a single bound? not so much. But I like these pants enough to give them 5 Stars. Save your tips, spend the money and support real american craftsman who put out a fantastic product. Amortized over what I’m guessing will be years of wear, Raleigh Denim is a relative bargain. If you can just buy one, buy the best you can afford. You’ll never look back with regret.

I’ve learned that «expensive» isn’t always «expensive». An item can have a high price tag attached to it, but in my mind it’s not «expensive» if the value returned is proportional to the price.
So it goes with Raleigh Denim. Yes, you’ll spend more on a pair of jeans here than you will at many other places. But for that price, you’re rewarded with what might be the best quality pair of jeans currently available in America. The denim is made the way denim was made when denim was made to last. The quality of construction is second-​to-​none. The fit and finish are impeccable. And, as one other reviewer noted, they know their jeans and know how to do a proper fitting. I’d venture to guess that a pair of ill-​fitting dad jeans will never ever leave this shop, and that alone does humanity a big favor.
I bought a blazer from them last week, and all of the above applies equally to the blazer. Even my fashion fru-​fru wife had to admit that it looks absolutely fantastic. The only problem now is that we’re having a warm spell and I haven’t been able to wear it outside … but when it does cool off, I’ll be wearing the hell out of the blazer … and my Raleigh Denim jeans.
There’s also the added bonus of supporting a local business, AND a local manufacturer. Shopping at Raleigh Denim keeps your neighbors working. Literally.
There’s nothing expensive about that.

After losing quite a bit of weight, I wanted to reward myself with a proper pair of jeans that fit ‘just right.’
Walking in on a snowy Saturday, I had the place to myself. The lady working that day was quite nice. I told her I thought I was looking for a pair of 34″ waist or so jeans and she handed me two pairs.
To my dismay, I was unable to button them up completely. Upon telling the floor salesperson this, she remarked that I should give them a few minutes. Apparently the pants are liable to stretch out as much as an half to full inch. And that they did.
Upon seeing they fit in the waist, I was worried about them needing hemmed. The pants are made to have a 35″ inseam and I’m normally a 34“er. Having a straight leg, the 35’ers were just fine. But it was nice to have the professional opinion. If i need to have them adjusted later, apparently that’s no problem on premises.
My wife was suitably impressed when I modeled the jeans. While the price is steep, having a locally made product, by hand mind you, sort of makes up for it. And it was my birthday, so I was in the mood to spoil myself.
Having the pants numbered and signed by the owners is kinda cool too. And now I’m wearing a bit of Raleigh :)

Raleigh Denim, a quality for sure. There are lots of so called premium jeans but these people really do put the sweat equity into a great fittting and wearing product. Thus, it pays to look around a little and find one of their dealers to do it right if you cannot make it to the curatory.

Amazing jeans. I stopped here over the weekend to get a pair after finding out about the brand on a denim forum and talks of rivaling the good Japanese stuff. They are really passionate about their jeans. When I went in to buy mine the gentleman there took the time to really talk to me in detail about my fit, style, how they will wear, and the color mix of thread that impacts the hue of the blue over time. I mean really detailed kinda stuff that shows the passion. The jeans fit me perfectly and I can’t wait to see how they wear. Keep in mind this is a small business churning out handmade products so you’re not going to get a Gap sized space and selection. You are getting small batch, high quality stuff in a room fronting the actual production facility. They do have 2 changing spaces though and they were happy to have me try on multiple sizes and fits and to see what worked best. They also have shirts, sweaters, and accessories besides the jeans. Some are theirs and some are other brands that you’re not likely to find in department stores. Their jeans are pricey and trump most Japanese and even Dior stuff in terms of cost but that is the price you pay for hand made labor intensive and high quality products. I’ll certainly come back to buy more because they are fantastic jeans and limited enough that I can relish in the uniqueness and exclusivity factor to other denim snobs.

I love these jeans. The best part is that they are world-​class wear and they are made from locally made materials, by local crafts-​people. They fit and feel great and a great example of what American-​made should be.
I’ve not yet been to the Raleigh store, but I got my pair from Barney’s Coop in Georgetown, in DC.

I had heard about Raleigh Demin earlier, but knowing that they only made mens jeans at the time I tried not to get too attached.
Thankfully they’ve expanded their line and also brought in other items (shirts, accessories) to compliment their jeans. Visited the shop during their sample sale. When I tried on a pair of jeans, they felt like butter. The jeans are very well made and are extremely comfortable. Of course, just knowing that you’re supporting a local business is awesome. The jeans I purchased were $ 75 but will require hemming (at Raleigh Demin it would be $ 25), but if you were to buy a regularly priced pair of jeans ($ 225ish) it would be included.
If you’re like me and can’t afford the reg. priced jeans, def. check out their sales!

Jeans made in Raleigh, that fit like a dream. Yes please.
These guys will help you find the right pair of jeans for you because they KNOW their jeans, because they make them right there.
They know which ones will shrink, which ones will stretch. They will even stitch an original hem on site for you with an ancient sewing machine… one of the sewing machines they use to make these jeans. No more «save the hem» crap.
I love jeans. I love obnoxious designer jeans. These are my new jeans and I will be getting more.
