Raleigh needs more shops like this one.
Lauren Ramirez’ workshop and store has the coolest vibe, and is stocked with all sorts of high-​quality, handcrafted objects. She is wonderful to speak with and clearly loves every item in her shop, which makes gift shopping there a wonderful 1-​on-​1 experience.
I was in awe of the jewelry, which is so very finely worked, with some pieces made by her and others from some of her favorite peers — ask her for their stories and let her do them justice. She always has new pieces coming in, so the rest of the stock rotates, but it seems as though graphite objects and leather work is always represented in some form.
There are pieces to fit every price point, so this is a lovely place to get a thoughtful, unique gift.

Quercus Studio is a tiny, mostly metal work, shop located right around the corner from Deco in downtown Raleigh. How have I never been here before?! I have no clue! It is run by a local artist, Lauren Ramirez, originally from San Fransisco, and let me tell you, not only is she friendly, but she knows her inventory. Quercus has absolutely beautiful work, from artists all over the states, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it housed some beyond too. Everything from knives to jewelry, sculpture to leather work and even graphite objects.
You will fall in love with this tiny shop, and while the prices aren’t affordable per say, I think you’ll be able to make an exception for these dream like items. Plus, how can I NOT love an artist that places dried insects on her displays? All I want Christmas, some of this jewelry. Pro Tip: they regularly have a sample sale, which you can browse on their website. I look forward to putting Quercus Studio on my regular stopping routine when I’m downtown, I’ve heard rumors that they regularly have a cheese tray out for guests with fried fruit. AND, I am simply in love with Albert, the gallery dog. All together a perfect spot and thanks again to Rod O. for always telling me about the best spots in town, what would I do without your gallery knowledge?!

It smells like the forest, and it’s filled with beautiful treasures. Delicate gold jewelry, earthy ceramics, and cool sculptures.

This shop is to die for! Ugh so cute. Lots of cute jewelry and trinkets and tcotchkes from local designers and metalsmiths alike. I bought some handmade earrings for my boo and the owner took special care to hand craft them w love and good juju. She event gift wrapped and mailed them for me! Lauren, the proprietor, is so tiny and nice, such a great addition to the DTR «scene» heh

As a small business, one would assume that Quercus has memorized the old adage «time is money.» Unfortunately, experience would seeming indicate otherwise. It is important to note that despite my repeated attempts to do business with Quercus, I’ve only been greeted by a «be back soon» sign on the door with a promised return time that invariably passes without the proprietor’s return. Once there were angry barking dogs to accompany the sign, and one might second guess their initial plan of entering the store when occupied by such unwelcoming creatures.
I really wanted to do business with Quercus. I’d scoured their blog and found some interesting pieces of jewelry that I thought would be great for my girlfriend. I liked the idea of patronizing a small, local business because I appreciate the «shop local» movement, especially in Raleigh. But when I’m leaving work and spending time on the weekends to repeatedly wait for the «be back soon» sign to be removed (late) from the store window every time I make time for Quercus, it just isn’t worth it. Sorry.

More than a Dozen Artists and Designers Represented here and Amazingly the entire Shop looks Cohesive as if ONE Artist Designed it all or like it all emerged from the same Forest! Brilliant to form a collection of Quality Works that look Fantastik side-​by-​side!
I LOVED the Jewelry, Leather works and Knives! When I say «I Dream of Steel» These Blades are what I’m Dreaming of! Gentlemen you could pick out something for your Lady AND Yourself here! There used to be a saying «A Gentleman always carries a Knife»!
What’s in a Name? «Quercus» is Latin for .:. Oak Tree! (Not the Morris E. Day song nor video) So… So many Raleigh Company’s with Oak in the name, glad someone «Quercus» could stick with the theme and score something different!
Shop is well hidden until you know where it is (Between «Deco» and «Lucetta Grace»)…
