This is a great library if you are interested in genealogy or local history. It is totally dedicated to that purpose. The collection is especially strong for Wake and the surrounding counties, but there is a lot here for people with ancestry from further parts. There is an extensive microfilm collection and a number of computers that can access subscription databases. Many of the books are in closed stacks (you have to request them, you can’t browse), though a number of reference and how-​to books are available for browsing. The books don’t circulate, however. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable, so it’s easy to ask questions.
