Established in 2001.

A dog lover her entire life, Sylvie became a professional dog trainer after watching her fear aggressive Corgi gain confidence to the point where she interacted with joy with other dogs and people instead of lunging and snapping at them! Sylvie was certified in 1999 by Canine Training Inc.

An avid community supporter, Sylvie started the volunteer companionship program at the SPCA of Wake County in 1992 and coordinated many facets of the volunteer force until 1996. This included training volunteer adoption counselors to educate and serve customers in selecting their pet. And Sylvie also formed and coordinated the volunteer lost/​found program.

A corporate burn out, Sylvie made the plunge and started Sylvie’s K9 Solutions Inc. in 2001 and later merged with Donnie to form K9 Solutions. The company has grown to offering group classes, private training, boarding school, and service dogs with a fabulous team of 12 trainers, all following their passion.

The first few months after adopting the puppy we worked from books & a basic puppy class and things were okay, but Dewey got to a year and like a typical teenager started pushing his boundaries.
Donnie came to the house for a one-​on-​one session and taught us how to be better puppy parents which in turn made a huge difference in Dewey’s behavior. So much so we decided to try the Public Manners Class. Nick is amazing with the dogs and so very helpful. He gets there early & stays after to answer questions (related to the class or not). I actually am beginning to believe we may be able to take Dewey out & about with us & enjoy a coffee or lunch instead of him having to stay home or with a sitter. And Sylive is fantastic — she has called back and spent time on the phone coaching & helping above & beyond!
It is obvious the whole staff are «dog people» and really want us to succeed. The only regret I have is that we didn’t find them sooner!

I highly recommend K9 Solutions! My dog is a rescue and had some behavioral issues that I needed help with, and Donnie was absolutely wonderful. I honestly didn’t know that this much improvement was possible! He gave me so many tips and so much valuable advice. My dog is a bullmastiff, and Donnie was very knowledgable about the particular needs and concerns with giant breeds. Some of the best money I’ve ever spent– I promise it is worth it!

We couldn’t be happier with the change in our miniature pinscher after she returned from training camp! She’s still a happy, playful pup, but she’s much more in control of her energy, and she is fully potty trained!
Melinda was very patient with her and gave us all the help and support we needed during and after camp.
We had tried group classes at one of the big pet stores, but they don’t compare to the training we received from K9 Solutions. We have no problems taking Vienna on trips with us because we know she will be well-​behaved, even in a new environment.

After a few years of worsening behavior from one of our dogs (and hundreds of dollars wasted on other trainers) I called Sylvie. She was wonderful to talk to from the get-​go. She was able to schedule a training session for me and my two dogs within a few days with Mark and his wife, who I cannot say enough about! Within 20 minutes of their arrival, my dogs were like completely different dogs! I was shocked. Mark was effective, stern yet caring, and very encouraging. I was almost skeptical because I couldn’t believe these changes could happen so fast but here we are over a week later, and my dogs continue to improve each day! I’m more than pleased, and have already recommended Sylvie and Mark to multiple people! I just wish I had thought to call Sylvie sooner!

We need some behavior modification help for our 2 dogs. Sylive was immediately responsive and easy to work with. Mark came to our home to work with us and after 1 visit our dogs responded immediately. We needed help with visitor management, fence patrol, trying to lead on the leash and barking. He gave us simple solutions that we have to work on to make our dogs compliant. This was incredibly useful!

People often comment about what a good well behaved dog I have… and it is true he really is a «dream dog». I give credit to Sylvie and K9 Solutions for achieving this. From the time he was a very young puppy he attended classes and training groups with Sylvie and Donnie and not only did my dog benefit but I learned correct ways to work with him and thus maintain the good behaviors. Things have gone so well that now in addition to being a pleasure in our home among friends and family, he is a certified Therapy Dog and is invited to schools and the library to listen to children of all ages read. I am so grateful and appreciative to Sylvie and K9 Solutions.
