Five Star Home Cleaning

Don’t waste your time with this company. I couldn’t get this company to answer the phone, so that I could redeem a voucher I had already paid for. When I finally got a hold of someone the services were scheduled at the earliest for two month away. And when the time came… no one showed up or answered my calls! Text messaging seemed to get a response, but wasn’t helpful. A closer look at their website
and I start to worry that I have been scammed. Hopefully I can get a refund on the voucher I purchased from living social. And hopefully I save someone else from making the same mistake. Here is the more detailed version and the text messages between us:
I purchased a Living Social voucher for a 3 hour cleaning services from North Raleigh Home Cleaning (NRHC) and tried to redeem the voucher by calling the company late February, early March 2012. After calling and leaving voice-​mails several times I received the text message: «May 17^th works for you?» I wrote back «May 24^th would be better. Is then okay?» and received no reply. I called several more times before speaking with a lady named Vanessa. I told her that I was trying to redeem a voucher. We scheduled for 12:00 PM May 24^th. She told me that they were very busy but she would call if a sooner opening became available since I had hoped that the services would be preformed sooner than 2 months away. May 24^th came and when no one showed up by 12:30 so I called and left a voice mail message. At 1:10 PM I sent a text to the number on their website: «I had an appointment with your company today and no one showed up».
NRHC: «I had a open for may 17^th, we didn’t confirm for today, you have a groupon?»
Me: «I have a voucher and you said may 24^th at noon»
NRHC: «please look at our text history»
Me: «well no one showed up last week either»
NRHC: «You didn’t confirm, I don’t have your voucher address or anything»
Me: What are you talking about? I talked to you on the phone and we confirmed May 24^th. You said that I give you the voucher number when you actually show up and do what I paid for.“
NRHC: «I asked if u want schedule for the 17^th, then u said 24^th would be better for you.»
Me: «And you called me. you never responded anything via text.»
NRHC: How many cleaning you have? It will be your first time?
Me: Yes. What do you mean how many cleaning?
NRHC: How many hours?
Me: Three hours. And yes meaning first time. When are you coming?
NRHC: I’m trying to see if I can put you in before your voucher expires.
Me: So you are not coming today. ?
NRHC: «You are not on the schedule for today ! Im sorry»
Me: «Well then when are you coming?»
Me: «Since you won’t answer my text like you won’t answer my phone calls I guess you don’t want my business.»
The last text was from NRHC saying «I’m trying to find a available spot for you.»
I haven’t heard back from them since.
I would just like other people to know how this business operates. Their web site lists a nonspecific street address and actually talking to someone is difficult. I was able to receive a refund from Living Social, but I missed out on a day of work for no good reason. I’m not sure how NRHC expects to stay in business with her customer service like it is. After looking carefully at her website I would not trust her in my home and I would definitely check to see if she is really licensed and insured.
A quick web search and it also appears that Vanessa may have changed the listings for her business’s address and website. North Raleigh Home Cleaning has no real street address listed on the most current website (North hills dr Raleigh, NC 27 609). There is an address listed on Angie’s List under North Raleigh Home Cleaning, Vanessa *no last name, S/​n Six Forks Rd Raleigh, NC 27 609 (919) 720‑5875 and on Super Pages for a North Raleigh Home Cleaning at 216 North Cliff Drive Raleigh, NC 27 609. Her current website is
