History

Established in 2009.

After selling his eastern NC electrical contracting firm to enter the ministry; Bob Wagner has decided to do it again.

Hearing the horror stories from people about the fees they were charged for substandard service work, owner Bob Wagner decided to take a sabbatical from the ministry and start Express Electrical Service. His desire is to help bring honesty, fairness and integrity back into the electrical service industry.

Bob originally started his first electrical contracting firm in New Jersey in 1983 and shortly thereafter opened another branch in PA. When the recession hit in the late 80s Bob decided the time was right to move to North Carolina where he has been living and working ever since.

Being an ordained Pastor, Author, Corporate Trainer and Public Speaker makes him one of the most unique contractors in the area. Having received his first electrical license in 1983 makes him one of the most experienced.

I rated 2 stars only because the company answered the phone right away and were initially pleasant. I requested a quote to install 3 ceiling fans, noted my ceiling height, existing light fixture, and that I was unsure whether or not I would need fan-​rated boxes. I was told that a technician would have to come out just to provide an estimate for this service. This would require me taking time off work just to know the quote, which I am not willing to do, as several other companies have been able to easily provide me with estimates for this work over the phone. I was told the only person who could do this was the owner, who was on vacation… for a month. I know with all these great reviews they likely won’t be terribly concerned about losing one potential customer, but if the only person who can quote simple work over the phone is the owner, he may wish to consider some alternates in his extended absence. Ridiculous.

Highly recommend these guys. The appointment setup was easy. I was a bit picky about what I wanted with our outdoor lighting and Justin was very accommodating. The work was completed as agree upon and the price was exactly as quoted. We are very happy and recommend these folks.

We have had a myriad of work done: IDing and labeling our breaker box, shifting AC to one breaker box so it can be on the generator they installed, installation of an attic fan and 2 bathroom lights and fans, and installation of surge protectors at the breaker boxes.
They were quick to write the estimates and get the work done, as promised, which was on a tight timeline.
Everyone I have interacted with at Express Electrical has been kind and brilliant, good people who know exactly what they are doing and what the pinch points might be.
I have my electricians for good, and you should, too. Give Express Electrical a call!

We had Express do a panel replacement, gas safety interlock, generator hookup, meter box replacement, along with some other misc work. They were prompt on returning calls and on were on time both days. The two electricians on site were curious and cleaned up after themselves. Since they didn’t want us to be without power over night they went out of their way and worked a long day to get us back up and running. Highly recommend.

I run a business where our busiest day is Saturday. In the very late hours (or should I say, early morning hours) a fuse blew in our office. At first, I called in my go-​to handy man for the fix and we found that it wasn’t just the fuse that was the problem. One and half hours before we opened our doors to the public for our shows and we were at our wits end! We called this company, jerry rigged a temporary fix, and our electrician was out within two hours. For a business owner, speed is everything even if it means a higher price. The man who came out was helpful, friendly, and diagnosed the problem quickly. We had to wait for a part to come in, but he was able to fix everything he could so that we could keep running things smoothly till the part came in. It turned out that an external light had been fried and he had to fix the internal workings within that side of the building. He came back today and finished the job. I am very pleased!

Had power loss in half of our residence. Duke power checked and determined it was nothing on their end and told us to call an electrician. Called Express late Friday night and they came first thing Saturday morning and quickly diagnosed cause of power loss. The Technician Tim had to leave and make multiple stops in order to find a circuit board that we needed. He returned within an hour and had the circuit board replaced and power back on within another 30 minutes. Great communication and reasonable price to fix considering it was the weekend. Would highly recommend based on our experience.

Get quotes from at least three companies before you do the work!
Express electrical was VERY FAST at coming out to give me an estimate, they even told me they could do the work the same exact day.
I wanted to get two electrical outlets installed outside and switches by the front door. I looked up the parts myself and it came out to around $ 100 in parts. They wanted to charge me $ 705.00 to do the work which results in about $ 605 labor for two hours of work.
I asked them if they could simply drop the $ 65.00 dispatch fee for my home being more than 20 miles away and told the guy giving me the estimate they would still make $ 540 labor, he told me «no».
He also said «You won’t find anyone else to do this job any cheaper» which was a little rude.
I called and got a few more estimates and got another company to do the job for $ 500, saving myself $ 205 dollars.
Keep checking Google Maps and look at company reviews, then call a few. Sometimes other companies are willing to work with you a little more and give you a better price. While Express Electrical is fast, they have high prices and don’t seem to want to work with you any.

I needed two wall outlets installed. They arrived when promised, gave a reasonably priced estimate for the job and completed the work promptly, neatly and courteously. The technician, Justin, and the Estimator, Ray, were both a pleasure to deal with. I will call them again the next time I need electrical work.

Called them out to check an outlet that kept tripping. Originally scheduled appointment for 12p, and then called at lunchtime the day before and asked if they could work me in at 8a the next morning instead of the original 12p time. Made it happen no problem. They also provided me with the cost when the appointment was made and explained it could be more and why it may increase.
Tech was here before 8 and I received an automated phone call as well as a text message to let me know they were on the way. Technician was courteous and thoroughly explained everything.
I would recommend these guys to anyone who wants a reliable and customer centered electrical company.

Prompt, efficient, thorough, explain everything they do. They had a tech to my place for an emergency repair within the hour (on a Saturday!) and he had it fixed in less than an hour!
