History

Established in 2008.

The Diamonds Direct concept originated in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1995 when our owners decided to open their company’s doors to the public after selling exclusively wholesale to jewelry stores for more than a decade. After experiencing how diamonds were being sold to the public in the Southeast, they decided to focus their efforts here to begin establishing the concept of having several locations that would offer the highest standard of quality, excellence, value, selection and education in the jewelry industry. After careful consideration, our company chose to expand to the Raleigh market in 2008 to establish our third location in an area that we feel is growing rapidly and is ready for a jewelry store that will revolutionize the way diamonds are sold. Business Owner

Barak Zeev Henis, Vice President, founded Diamonds Direct Crabtree in 2008. He joined Diamonds Direct’s parent company in 2004 as Sales Manager of the jewelry wholesale division where he climbed his way up in the diamond industry starting as a traveling sales person covering 30 states and supplying diamond jewelry to more than 150 retail jewelry stores.

Henis got his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Ben Gurion University. During his second year of Master studies in Law at Bar Ilan University, he met with Mr. Alon Arabov, the President and founder of Diamonds Direct Group and The Diamond Manufacturers. Henis knew right away he had found his true passion and path in life and started his professional gemology studies at the Diamond College in Ranat Gan. After working and specializing in loose diamonds, Henis started his move in 2004 to the world’s largest diamond market in the USA. Henis started in the wholesale offices and eventually opened the third Diamonds Direct in Raleigh, NC.

The manager called me about the problem and refunded me the entire cost. I appreciated that he apologized about the situation and tried to fix their mistake. I distrust jewelers in general, so it’s unfortunate that this happened, but diamonds direct seems like they have a good selection of jewelry and many employees to help customers.

We have purchased numerous pieces of Jewelry from Tammy and Barak at DD. C Gonshor Engagement Ring and wedding band, mens wedding ring, diamond filled key necklace, and most lately a set of diamond earrings to match the engagement ring.
The engagement ring was made to fit our diamond. It started out a bit rough with the ring. But… Barak and Tammy worked diligently to make it right. After a few small stones came dislodged and a few attempts to repair… they decided they were not happy with the build. So… they had a completely new ring built. The second ring has been perfect and we’ve had no issues.
The Key had a somewhat similar story. We had it modified to make it unique. One of the stones dislodged. Not only did they fix the issue… they improved it with a larger accent diamond and made the key even better.
I drive a very hard bargain… and research all of my purchases. Barak and Tammy beat everyone with quality and price. I worked with jewelers world wide in my initial purchases. They proved to me they wanted to earn my repeat business. After 5 separate purchases… I’d say the proof is in the pudding. I now live on the other side of the country… and DD is still my preferred jeweler. If I find something I like… I give Tammy and Barak a chance to earn my business before I pull the trigger.
I can’t say enough good things about DD. I would send my closest family and friends to them for their Diamond needs.

After 20 years of marriage I was wanting to upgrade my wedding ring. I came in not expecting to purchase anything that day but I was so impressed with the advice and service I received from Jodi Schoenberger that I left with a ring ordered that I am so excited about! She listened to what I wanted and stayed within my budget. She wasn’t pushy or sales-y. I will always go back to her for my jewelry purchases from now on and highly recommend her to everyone and anyone. Ask for Jodi when you go into Diamond’s Direct Crabtree, you’ll be glad you did! I have been to the location three times and still have NOT made a purchase there and have no plans to even if I had a million dollar$. Folks, while their ads might sound appealing with the free financing, beverages, etc… stay far away. You are going to pay way too much for your jewelry that is IF you can actually get someone to wait on you and follow up.
If I could rate this place «ZERO» stars I would! Not impressed at all. Started looking for something special to be made a few months ago. Even showed sales person picture of what I wanted. They wine & dine you with of course we can do that attitude plus we don’t charge for fee for custom made… please your mark up is so high of course it is already included in the price. If you opt for 3 or 5 years free financing, don’t be fooled you are paying way too much with no discount. Their prices are ridiculously high!
I waited patiently with emails and telephone calls not to be returned and the salesgirl could never seem to be interested in helping me… that is the one star as big THANKS I took my business elsewhere and had a custom piece made from a local jeweler that is in business over 30 years!!! I am pleased with my purchase from a local jeweler in Cary, thanks again!

My husband bought a necklace for me at this store in June 2014. We only ever bought this one piece of jewelry here. After a year and a half and moving to Seattle, the other day I noticed my necklace was missing a diamond. I called Diamonds Direct to explore my options on getting it fixed. They sent me a pre-paid FedEx shipping label for guaranteed overnight delivery. I sent the necklace, they fixed it and cleaned it, and overnighted it back to me. None of this process cost me a penny. Let me clarify, I didn’t even get charged for a new diamond or the repair. Nothing. That is INCREDIBLE customer service, which is becoming harder and harder to find.

My fiancé and I would highly recommend this place to anyone! We went into the store 5 or 6 times looking for the perfect diamond for my grandmother’s setting. Each time Raj was very attentive (granted when they’re busy, we maybe had to wait no more than 5 minutes).
They flew in 6 or 7 diamonds for us to look at that met our price range and specifications exactly. We went to 5 other local jewelery stores and Diamonds Directs’ customer service, quality and price of their diamonds far exceeded everyone else’s. If you want fabulous customer service and high quality diamonds in the triangle, Diamonds Direct is the place to go!

I can’t say enough good things about Diamonds Direct! My fiancé had a great experience shopping for my ring there, and they were also great with working to get the price down since he was able to pay for the ring in full when he purchased it. He got a ring that was 2.5 sizes larger than my size, and DD ordered me another ring at no charge, and let me keep the old ring (with a ring guard on it) so I could wear it while we waited for the new ring in my correct size came in.
I love love love my ring (both the setting and diamond!) and I get compliments on it all the time. We went back to DD for wedding bands and had a great experience again. Definitely recommend them!

First class service, I went during their slow times, during the day, of course go in with a budget but be prepared for them to up sell you, it’s their job, I went in with a 2500 budget and walked out with a 3200 ring, and couldn’t be happier, everything was great but 4 stars due to Wells Fargo sending thier card and paperwork to our house that could have ruined the whole surprise, they should wait till I atleast get the ring, I got the paper work 2 days before getting the ring;

Never had a special moment be more insulting.
Girlfriend and I went into the store at Crabtree and we made it clear to the so called «Diamond Expert» this was our very first time searching for potential engagement rings. I advised him I wanted my girlfriend to choose at least 2 – 3 different rings/settings so it would at least be somewhat of a surprise. I also made him aware that this being our first store I was not ready to make a decision today. Well needless to say the process went downhill form there.
Diamonds Direct makes it feel like you are at a used car sales lot. After she had narrowed down a few choices she liked I got pressured into telling «J» what I was looking to spend. That’s fine to an extent, but then he pressured me to put money down in order to hold the stone/ring. After initially explaining to him I need to figure out financial numbers, he calls over a manager who proceeds to make me feel even worse. She goes on to brag about the ring, and where they lost me and made me feel like a worthless customer was the comment in regards to a down payment. She suggested I put money down to show that «I was serious» about the ring.
How dare you say that I have to put money down just to prove I am serious. I am there with the love of my life to begin with and this should have been an enjoyable experience for both of us. For your company and associates to insinuate that because I am not putting money down on one of the first three rings we see, at the first location we have visited, is an absolute insult.
Your company and associates have a lot to learn when it comes to respecting customer’s, and I will never step foot in the store Crabtree again. You don’t care about the special moment in people’s lives; just make a sale.

Today was our second time at Diamonds Direct Crabtree, and this time it gets a review. The first time we were ignored by our assigned salesperson for a good 30minutes before we decided to leave.
Today we returned hoping to find good diamond pricing and maybe a better experience. We were approached by Raj, telling him the exact specifications of the diamond we were looking for, hoping he could show us maybe a few that were close and give us an idea of pricing.
He returned with a single diamond with a higher clarity but also a lower inclusion rating. He said that they only had one diamond. We told him it looked nice and asked if we could see one to compare it to, even outside of our specs. «Well you’ve already looked at other diamonds somewhere else so compare it to that.» He then asked our price range and said «well, this is it. It’s in your price range.»
Pretty frustrated and flustered by the horrible service, we left. Thanks Raj, we’ll be shopping elsewhere. Also, as a side note, the diamond price was not anything to rave about. We’ll be going to CMI where they don’t treat you horribly.

An update from the last review.
Last Saturday, we decided to come back because Mr. Barak reached out and offered us a gift card to use at the store. My fiancé and I got a totally different experiences. From the ladies standing at the door to all the salespeople, they greeted us genuinely and made sure we got help. When we wandered around while waiting for our help person, there were at least 2 people asking us if we got help even though they were super busy. The lady who helped us, Clarissa or Carissa (I’m sorry if I didn’t get your name right, was super nice and helpful. Very satisfied customer service. I will not hesitate to come back to Diamonds Direct next time.

I am a huge Diamons Direct fan. We recently moved from Charlotte and my fiancé purchased my engagement ring setting from Diamonds Direct Southpark and I’ve been to the Crabtree location several times now to have my ring cleaned. The staff at this location are just as friendly as the staff at Southpark. The Southpark location was a bit nicer inside. I agree with another Unilocaler though about the loose diamonds they sell here. We actually purchased the diamond from Perry’s in Charlotte because we got a MUCH better diamond for a lesser price that came with all of the paperwork to confirm that it is indeed the diamond that we purchased. Do your research if you plan to buy a diamond here, there are other places that you can get more for your money.
We plan to purchase our wedding bands in April from this location.

I finally decided it was time for a review of this place due to all the commercials they have on the radio. First things first you have to get buzzed in; don’t worry they have a rent-a-cop who is reminiscent of Day-Day from Next Friday, Top Flight Security, best in the whole world Craig.
Anywho, I stopped in to look for a classic watch along the lines of Longines or Baume& Mercer; simple, classic, understated, elegant and professional.
After waiting for service or to even be noticed, they sent the manager/owner over to discuss watches. I explained my desire for a simple non-flashy understated watch. He then proceeded to explain they don’t carry that style but they do have Breitling watches (Tag Heuer, etc) which he forced me to look at. Breitling is the epitome of old man bling. Perfect for a fat midlife crisis man of 50+ who drives a convertible Mercedes and has the ability to purchase the highest quality dates/escorts. Every watch he proceeded to show me was so prodigious and blingy my shirt and blazer sleeves wouldn’t fit over it. I felt like I had Batmans belt wrapped around my wrist.
Not one watch had the simple «classic» look I sought out. As they mentioned, that’s not the look they are going for; caters to the wrong crowd.
So basically don’t go here unless, your a rapper, rich middle aged guy, or you need to counterweight one side of your body with a big-ass watch.

Shopped here first for a diamond for my wife then went to the mall and shopped zales and reeds, came back here, Laura Gallardo was our salesperson, wow we are both so happy Laura was great and diamond ring is just amazing, and we purchased diamond on Friday and was initially told it would take a week to have diamond mounted but was ready a day earlier than promised, next day! All right, so here’s the promised update:
Backstory: I had bought a pair of diamond stud earrings for my mom as a combined Christmas and birthday present. Well, she loved how they sparkled, but she was so afraid of losing them when she combed her hair or slept (she sleeps in all her jewelry). So, she asked if we could exchange them for a diamond pendant instead.
Main story: So I emailed Teri again and told him what my mom wanted (she had very particular requirements for her diamond). Teri sorted through their inventory and emailed me a few specs that fit into the requirements and budget. When I came in to look at them, he also mentioned that a shipment would be arriving the next day and that I could come back in and we’d look at more stones. I did just that and found a beautiful diamond that my mom would love!
After a few days, the stone was set and I came to pick it up. When I brought it home, I noticed that there was an inclusion on the edge of the diamond that could easily be hidden under a prong. I’m not sure why the jeweler didn’t automatically try to hide it under a prong when s/he was setting it, but I couldn’t «unsee» it now that I noticed it. So… back into DD I went. They re-set the diamond without any hassle and it’s absolutely perfect now. My mom has yet to see the finished result, but I am sure that she’ll love it.
Everyone has been very professional, helpful, and friendly. I highly recommend them to anyone who’s in the market for a diamond!

I have to say, I’ve had nothing but very positive experiences with Diamonds Direct Crabtree. They advertise a lot — and I mean a lot — about how they own each step in the production process (mining, cutting, etc.) to remove the markups that traditionally get added to each of the middlemen.
While I can’t claim to be anything of an expert on jewelry valuation, I did a ton of research and price comparison for the engagement ring I purchased for my fiancée, and we definitely got a great deal. They weren’t pushy about the price, and helped her try on a number of rings in every conceivable style, setting, etc., until she found the perfect one. Then they asked me what my budget was (hint: it was a lot lower than they were asking for). They ended up coming down a great deal, and though it was a little higher than I was planning to pay, I was very pleased with the cut and quality of the diamond (as was my fiancée!).
Another huge perk is their add-ins. Every time we’re in the area, my fiancée wants to stop by to take advantage of the lifetime of free ring cleanings. They also resize for free, and accept the full purchase price if you ever want to exchange for a bigger ring.
Bottom line: Good prices, tremendous value, and great customer service (very friendly and respectful). And they give you free drinks while you’re shopping (very important if you’re a little nervous about shelling out what for you is a sizeable chunk of money). All in all, a very good place to shop for jewelry.
Update: I have since gone back and had very similar experiences buying additional gifts.

A mutual friend put us in contact after he learned that I lost my wedding band and had purchased it from Diamonds Direct. She was extremely helpful throughout the process of getting my purchase of a replacement band completed, and offered to send over updated appraisals for both mine and my wife’s bands. I hadn’t even thought of this, but she made sure that it was something included in the new purchase.

I hear the commerical pounding the airwaves. I stop to purchase a surprise for my wife. They buzz me in, I tell them what I want. We look at almost every jewel case to see if they have what I need. We did not find the item, so he looked at catalog after catalog. He kept saying I know I have it, I just have to find it. After 48 minutes of looking. I said hey i do have a meeting in a ½ hr give me a call when you find it. He said he will call me today or tomorrow.
To my surprise, I never received a phone call.
Guess what I did, «He went to Jarods «and I found what I was looking for.

So let’s cut to the chase … for all of the advertising about how cheap Diamonds Direct is, I was a little miffed to discover that their prices are absolutely nothing to text home about.
Things they do well: the locked front door that you have to be buzzed in through creates an immediate air of importance; same with the rent-a-cop sitting next to the front door. They ply you with little foofy drinks that, presumably, are designed to help loosen the purse strings. They do have a substantial selection of mounts, and if your better half has been looking at rings in bridal magazines there’s a good chance she’ll recognize some of the designer’s names there. And they’ll fall all over you with service …
… until they realize you know what you’re talking about. When I went in I «played dumb» for a bit and let them tell me about cut and carat weight and such. And, as predicted, the first few loose stones they showed me were junk; extra facets, an unbalanced girdle, off-center cullet and so on. Sure enough — once I got them to show me a stone worth looking at, the price started to go up — rapidly — and was not even close to competitive. I ended up buying my chica’s ring from a jeweler in New York and paid about half of what DD quoted me, and I didn’t have to put up with this pompous silliness that tries to pass itself off as the greatest thing since sliced bread.
As a sidenote: I worked in this industry some years ago, and I’m fairly attuned to the little tricks and games that most jewelry stores play. DD wasn’t any worse than the others, but they certainly weren’t better.
