I wasn’t impressed at all. The menu was heavy on tilapia for some reason, and I was worried I wouldn’t be full from anything on it, so I ordered the crab cakes appetizer, hoping this would offset my concerns about leaving hungry. These were the smallest crab cakes I’ve ever seen. They fell apart easily and the sauce tasted«off». It was served with a mound of salad to make it appear like you got your money’s worth. The salad wasn’t dressed at all, and was barely palatable except for the tiny amount of feta crumbled into it. A simple vinaigrette would have gone a long way here, but certainly wouldn’t have saved the smallest crab cakes dish I’ve ever seen. I ordered a burger hoping that would fill me up. It was mediocre and served with barely enough ketchup for the burger let alone the fries. The fries were interestingly sliced but they needed to be blanched first. They tasted burnt and were a strange texture. They reminded me of the first time I tried deep frying some fries at home, which weren’t good at all. And there was another gigantic mound of salad in place of traditional lettuce –there was something in it that simply doesn’t belong on a burger. I couldn’t figure out what it was. It was more bitter than arugula. My brother ordered the tuna tacos, which was yet another gigantic artisan salad with the smallest amount of ahi tuna possible on a flour tortilla. He didn’t like them at all. So I took a bite of one and got a mouthful of rabbit food. This restaurant should rename itself from«Out of the Pan» to «Out of the Garden» and commit to Vegan instead of flirting with the idea. The service was also rather mediocre. Most of the time the waitresses backs were turned to the patrons and had no awareness that we were ready for our check. When another waitress asked if we wanted more coffee we explained we were ready for our check. She never passed that information to our waitress. I think this restaurant is trying to be chic and modern, but we both left completely unsatisfied and rather shocked at the price for mostly salad, tiny portions of protein and a mediocre burger that altogether left my brother and I still hungry.

Place is money. Shit goes up and down like most places butts it’s is a solid 9 but. Love the owner and wait staff. Always spot on. Menu is avid. But I’m a prude. I like fresh which is hard to do in Racine. I’d Like more heavy appetizers. All in all. Do it!

Great menu and timely for the season. The soup was really good but the steak was the star of the show that included caramelized onions and gorgonzola. Just really good food.

An anchor of downtown Racine, Out of the Pan’s brunch is the bomb. Great indoor space too and perfect for out-of-towners looking for the local feel and a special breakfast experience. Nice place to hit up before heading to North Beach, the zoo or the art museum downtown. Brunch for two runs about $ 25 with good bloody Mary’s or a beer. Huevos ranchos, eggs Benedict, etc. You get the picture. Nothing seems to come from a frozen package. More like made fresh — out of the pan and delightfully stuffed into my face.

Ups and downs. That’s what happens at out of the pan. Some days are great. Some are quite inconsistent. I know a lot of the staff, current and past, so I don’t want to rip em apart. I’ll just say that my most recent stop was better than the last few before it. Let’s hope this is a sign of good things to come.

Gem of a place. Racine is so wildly under-appreciated and places like this are why. If in Chicago there would be lines out the door for weekend brunch. Pay limited attention to earlier reviews suggesting this place doesn’t go toe to toe with larger city rivals. This place is the real deal!!! Go now! And check out the picture of the Bloody Mary. It tastes even better than it looks!!!

A great surprise! My family went for breakfast and truly enjoyed the experience — we will go back when we come to visit. I had the blueberry jalapeño B&G, different but solid. Wife had breakfast pizza — also unique, and still right in our wheel house. Our 5 year old son had pancakes that were presented in a Micky mouse face complete with grapes for eyes and bacon for a smile; kid was ecstatic. The food was good, better than what I have come to expect in Racine anywhere, we loved the atmosphere and the staff was outstanding — friendly and attentive. We’ll be back!

Yet another post where I wish I could give half stars. Rating is on a Racine scale. I’d probably only have given it 3 stars in Milwaukee or Chicago. I had the blueberry jalapeño biscuits and gravy while my husband had the breakfast sandwich. The biscuits were really good. Would have loved to try them with jam or butter. I was disappointed with the gravy, considering earlier in the week I had tried some banging mushroom gravy at the Noble in Milwaukee. Being paired with such interesting biscuits I had hoped for a flavorful gravy. More heat or pepper would have been appreciated. My husband’s breakfast sandwich was really good. I loved the Cajun flavors and the fresh spinach. The breakfast potatoes were also top notch. A lot of the other dishes people were eating looked really good too. I will definitely return and try something a little more basic. I’m also going to give lunch and dinner a try. Racine doesn’t have a ton of interesting places to eat, but Out of the Pan gives me hope.

I wanted to like it so much more than I did. It was ok. I really enjoyed the appetizer. I got the thai lettuce wrap. However, when I got my entrée, I was disappointed. Everything was salty. The soup of the day was spinach zucchini which tasted very processed. For the prices and reputation of this place, I was hoping the food would be fresher and more original. My mom and grandma both got quesadillas(duck and thai) and both were ok. Don’t get me wrong, it’s nice to have a place that isn’t dishing out only fried food in Racine, but I just wanted something fresher and unique. On a high note, our waitress was very pleasant and sweet. It’s a solid three star place.

I have tried this place numerous times for lunch and dinner, but my review now is strictly on the brunch menu on Sundays. It is FANTASTIC! The menu has a little bit of everything, without being overwhelming. Some of the menu items even have a little twist on them… for example I had the blueberry and jalapeño biscuits and gravy… sounds like an odd combination but it was REALLY good. The gravy was not your typical thick sausage gravy but it was still very tasty. They have a couple different types of eggs benedict, omelets, breakfast burrito, pancakes… just about anything you could want. They also have great brunch drink options, mimosas, beermosas, bloody Marys which can be made with their house-infused serrano vodka… didn’t try that this time around, but definitely will next time. You get your choice of beer in your beermosa… only thing I would change is serving the beermosa in a pint glass instead of a wine glass… but that’s minimal. Get there early or after noon or plan for it to be busy. Good service, great food! I’ll be back soon!

Been here a few times and I always enjoy it. Warm and inviting atmosphere, the waitstaff are charming and hospitable. Great food for such a low price. Nice place to grab a bite especially when you have guests from out of town. Or if you just want to go local and avoid the chain restaurants.

Cute little hole in the wall. Interesting menu. I had the salmon with cucumber on toasted squares and it was very good. Didn’t have to wait at all for a table and service was good. If you like to try new things but also have a picky eater in your group this is a good place to try.

This a great lunch spot! My boyfriend and I love to find little cafes to go to and Out of the Pan is one of our favorites! The building it is located in has a cute little old warehouse. With the exposed brick and ductwork it is truly is a gem. And their food, OHMYGOD! The menu changes with the seasons. During lent they had a wide assortment of seafood dishes. I had the Cajun seasoned tilapia tacos. They were great! Each taco came with one whole filet! The second time we went I had on of their sandwich specials and their house salad and of course it was great! I will definitely be going back.

We visited Out of The Pan on one of the busiest dining days — Mother’s Day. Our wait for a table was quite reasonable, even though the dining room was full. We were seated and greeted by a very less than enthusiastic server. Our drink order came fairly quickly. The lack of helpfulness and welcome continued throughout our ordering and while waiting for our food. The rest of the diners, we noticed, were looking to the kitchen, at their watches, up to the ceiling — clearly annoyed by their wait times. Our order was not complicated, but it took the kitchen over an hour to serve us. Just not acceptable. Uninterested servers continued to unimpress. Food was OK, date I say, for Racine. We’ve had better, with far far better service.

my brother and I brother I both went here and had a wonderful experience sitting at the bar. The food could be a bit spicier for my taste, but you know, I understand they cook for the masses. I had tilapia Po’boy and cup of tortilla soup. I did not get a lot of attitude from servers who were attentive as described in other posts. I guess if you’re having a better day it may reflect both to your experience as well as your server. i would take a guest here, even a date? its a bit tough to spot near the bridge on state, but worth the visit.

Food is good, but service is always spotty. When going for lunch make sure you leave yourself plenty of time because it’s always packed and service is slow. That being said, the food is great! Love the salads and sandwiches. I also recently went for dinner and got one of their specials for the day: mahi mahi tacos with kiwi salsa. Very flavorful! If you’re looking for higher quality food in Racine there aren’t a whole lot of choices, and I would include Out of the Pan as one of the best.
