Jennifer A.

Business Owner

Jen is a native of Quincy and now resides in Boston. She fell in love with acupuncture and Chinese medicine as a young adult and decided to make it her career. She attended the New England School of Acupuncture in Newton, MA and graduated from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, CO. Jen also holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bridgewater State University and a Master’s degree from Boston College. Before she moved back to Boston, Jen helped to establish Left Hand Community Acupuncture in Lafayette, CO. In addition to her work at SSCA, Jen is also a detox acupuncturist at Fenway Health in their substance abuse treatment program. On her days off, Jen enjoys running, discovering new eateries around town and spending time with her friends and family.

Sliding scale makes it affordable, and the location is on a nice quiet side street. It does share space with a pediatric office, so that is a little intense, but the front desk ladies were super nice so that helps.
Jen was super nice and took the time to talk with me and answer my questions. I have yet to try them out for something specific, just went for relaxation my first time. With some back issues arising from snow shoveling though, I’m interested to see if a few more visit can help with that.
The community aspect was good, it was pretty quiet and respectful. The online scheduling is very convenient as well.

I went here for awhile about a year ago and then stopped going. Can’t quite remember why… Lately, my back has been killing me. I mean, to the point where I felt like I was about 80 (I just turned 38). Finally it dawned on me to give acupuncture another try, so I went back to SSCA. Wow. Instant relief. I’d say my back pain is 90% gone, conservative estimate. Will definitely be back, and keeping acupuncture as a normal part of my health maintenance routine. Oh, and Jen is great. Very professional and a great calming demeanor. Haven’t actually met Jess, but I’m willing to bet she’s the same. And you can’t beat the cost!

The South Shore Community Accupuncture has helped me through some tough times, even when meds weren’t working. Chronic pain is difficult to manage, my back (and I) appreciate the work Jen does an we will be returning. The fact that they provide a sliding scale for payments is just an added bonus. Thanks Jen!

I’m a huge fan of South Shore Community Acupuncture. Jess and Jen have been successful in helping treat knee and hip pain I’ve experienced as a result of running, and as an added bonus, I think acupuncture helped keep my first trimester pregnancy symptoms at bay while I was being treated for the knee and hip issues.
I was afraid the community aspect would be uncomfortable, but it doesn’t bother me at all now. It keeps the prices affordable (and on a sliding scale, which is helpful and generous) and frankly, I seem to fall asleep so quickly during treatment that I don’t notice if anyone else is there in the first place.
I have no idea WHY acupuncture works, but with great practitioners, a comfortable space, and undeniable results, I don’t really care!

Jess and Jen are both wonderful. I have been here over the past year and I treat tendinitis from overworking in my hands. It helps to deal with chronic pain also. I have seen both girls multiple times and I will continue to. I am grateful for community accupuncture close to my home.

This place is simply amazing. I have been dealing with chronic knee pain (had 2 arthroscopic knee surgeries 10+ years ago) and my knee acts up ever now and then. It got the point where I couldn’t even walk and I knew surgery was not an option so I tried acupuncture and I have seen incredible results. After my first treatment, my pain was reduced by 30−40%. After the next 3 – 4 sessions, my pain went away completely. I have had Jen and Nicole treat me and they are both equally great. They really make you feel calm, relaxed and give you hope that your pain will diminish. Prices are ridiculously affordable and the room is clean and tranquil.

It’s a community acupuncture that shares an office with a pediatric practice. I’ve been a couple of times expected the waiting room to be like a day care when I read that they shared offices with a pediatrician. The times that I went on a Sunday, there were no pediatric office hours and during the week mid day, I think there was one person in the waiting room. The community part of the acupuncture, you share a room that has two massage tables, and two reclining chairs. It was never over booked and each time that I went there was one other person in the room at most with one entering as I was leaving. They have affordable multi session deals. Open on Sunday! Met with Adrian, she’s nice and her acupuncture treatment worked for me.
