Mets-Willets Point

Quite the interesting train station.
Multiple turnstiles although the real one you will swipe in is on the platform.
It leads to the entrance of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, different stadiums, and the LIRR. Making it quite the convenient train station.

It’s just another MTA subway train station in Queens.
Take the #7 train here to catch a Mets game, or to see some tennis if that is your thing.
Nice boardwalk area and decently clean station overall. Always has extra staff around on game days to direct people.
Too bad there is nothing else around here except auto body shops and car repair places. Pretty much just take the train here, get off, see a game, then get back on and go home. Definitely not a spot to hang around late at night, or even before a game.
Taken the subway here a few times to see a game/​event and it actually runs pretty smooth and frequently though. Serves it’s purpose.

Ok, sad to admit, I grew up in NYC, been to a million Met’s games over the years and just recently learned you can take the LIRR to the stadium — the 7 train I knew — but never the LIRR… imagine that.
The stop is imaginatively named «Mets-​Willets Point» and well, it is pretty smoothly run if I do say so.
Easy in and out of the train the boardwalk that directs you to Citi Field (as well as the tennis stadium when the U.S. Open is running) — better than average and helpful LIRR employees working the platform and the trains run every half hour.
Side note: one of the cleaner train platform and track areas in the system which is nice to see.
Definitely worth it if you are coming from the east — probably cheaper from the NYC side to take the 7 train.

I give Citifield a 5 star rating simply because it’s the best stadium in the MLB system. It was constructed to resemble Ebbets Field the home of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Enter through the Jackie Robinson Rotunda and feel the nostalgia of the golden years of baseball. This stadium is newly constructed, so everything is new. Make sure and give yourself time to visit the Fanfest and also come prepared to eat as their are many options available for all taste and palates. You’ll love Citifield even if you’re not a Mets fan and you’ll want to come back many times thereafter.
