I’m not sure what all the good reviews are about. I ordered a flames zinger burger and made the mistake of not checking it before leaving the restaurant. When I got home and opened it up, I found a piece of chicken between 2 plain buns. The chicken was rubbery and and the buns were stale. I would have been better off rummaging through the garbage and finding a meal there as opposed to paying $ 5 for my «sandwich». Its hard to find a good halal burger joint so I hope they improve their food quality and prep. I don’t have a picture but if you want a visual then just think of the crappy burger they compare to the good burgers in every fast food commercial ever made.

Try the Flames Zinger Burger! Comes prepared with absolutely no lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, or… well. anything. Chicken lives up to the name. Flamed so much, it’s burnt to a thin crisp. Guess they really got me with their«Zinger»…

For $ 7.70(including tax) I got a chicken over rice plate with a soda. That’s maybe a buck fifty more than a typical NYC halal cart. But Flames is better than most carts. The ratios were excellent, with bites of tender chicken in nearly every bite I took. The jalapenos were a great touch and added a different kind of spice with the red sauce. I took my plate to go but the place has ample space to sit. The cook and cashier were both friendly. Preparation took a few minutes longer than I anticipated, but it was entirely worth it. Flames is a great new addition to Steinway Street. Highly recommended.

This place is on point. Got a chicken over rice with some exquisitely hot, hot sauce. White sauce had great flavor too and the rice was amazing. Girl behind the counter was nice & super polite too! I’ll be back.

For the second time, they take my order and when I give my location which is four blocks away, they said they do not have a person to make deliveries. Please do not do this to the customers, be more reliable with your service. Thank you.

The chicken cheese steak sandwich is like biting into 100% of juicy flavorful deliciousness. I was sitting in the car and my husband just brought a sandwich to me and I was expecting a mediocre quick fix to curb my hunger Little did I know it was going to be THEBESTSANDWICHEVER!!! I’m not kidding, seriously try it.

First off i wanna start by saying this food was SO good that i made a Unilocal account just to leave this review. I ordered a chicken tikka and beef tikka platter. There was so much food for only $ 8.99. The chicken and beef had amazing flavor and were just perfect. The owner is very friendly and the service was very good. This is hands down the best afghan food in nyc.

Highly recommend this place. Their chicken tikka is exceptional along with the rice. Their yogurt sauce is rich and hearty unlike other locations that tend to water it down. Looking forward to try out the rest of the menu. Their zinger fries are great as well.

Terrible service. I ordered 3 orders with multiple appetizers and the bill was $ 45 which is fine. Gave them $ 10 tip and picked up my food. My issue is the service. They don’t care. I specifically asked the kid 3 times if he placed bread with my order(one of the best breads to eat, seriously!) and he confirms of course we placed it with the food. I make my way home in NJ!!! and sit down to eat and guess what? No freaking bread for all of my 3 orders. I know it’s just bread but when you see someone gave you $ 10 tip on damn food that’s being picked up I would think you make sure you get their order right!!! I call them and he sounds like he could care less. Last time I eat there. Thumbs down on their service. Ps their fries was also rushed and oily. Like damn it get something right!!!

Being Afghan myself, I knew I was going to be quite the critic when it came to Afghani food. However, I must say– the food was up to par with my mother’s cooking! My favorite dish thus far is the was Order #16 which included skewers of Chicken Kofta and Lamb Tikka over brown rice served with salad and homemade Naan on the side. The meat was tender and had just the right amount of seasoning. Overall, from the service to the venue to the variety offered at Flames, I would give this up and running business 5 stars! Flames brings authentic Afghan cuisine to the area of Astoria and I would recommend everyone to try it at least once– if not twice!

Amazing. From the food to the service– thumbs up! 5 stars, 100%. Hands down the best place for kabab! From the chicken and lamb, to the beef — their meat is juicy, tender, and leaves you wanting more. Feels like meat heaven! Absolutely delicious. Each meal comes with salad and a basket of bread for the table. This Afghan bread is the best I’ve ever had — soft enough that you know it was just made. The portion sizes are huge, so be prepared to take some home! The service was quick and efficient. The wait staff is very sweet and they made sure we were enjoying our meals.
