John Evans did an excellent job testing my home for mold. The air samples showed lower mold levels inside the home when compared to the outside test sample. This was great news, but John found my washing machine did have elevated levels of mold growth. This may have been missed by other mold testing companies, but was a very important factor due to multiple mold allergies I have.
John was on time, courteous, and completed a full visual inspection of my home. The test results came back in 24 hours, and the cost of testing was industry standard. I did a bit of research prior to hiring Adaptive Environmental and found a few things you should ask your mold testing company before hiring them:
Do you test and do mold remediation? (You only want the company to test for mold. If they remove mold from your home as an additional service, commonly costing thousands of dollars, they will always find mold. This is an obvious conflict of interest no matter what they tell you.)
What lab do you send your test samples to and are they accredited? (You want to contact the lab and verify, the lab is just as important as the company testing for mold.)
Are you certified to test for mold? If so by who? (If they are only a contractor, without mold certifications, pass on the company)
Explain the three levels of mold contamination IICRC S520 condition 1, 2, and 3. (If they have no idea what this is, don’t hire this person to test for mold. These are basic principles and should be understood by certified mold inspectors.)
Do you have any claims filed against you with the BBB or ROC? (If they are BBB accredited or happen to be a licensed contractor).
These questions should give you a general feel for the mold inspector. I also wouldn’t have anyone destroy your house, drywall, or do any expensive work until you get a second option from another lab and mold inspector. Keep in mind, if the inspector is also doing the expensive remediation, chances are they will find toxic black mold throughout the entire house that will kill your family if you don’t remove it today! I ran across so many of these stories researching this topic it was disheartening. Keep the company doing the mold removal separate and keep yourself safe from fraud.
I hope this review keeps others from getting scammed and promotes this company as a quality mold testing solution.

Wonderful Man! I called looking for a home inspector on my new buy. It turns out that that isn’t their forte; however, referred me over to a home inspector that would be able to help me. He took a photo of his business card for me!

While I was away, a pipe burst and flooded the first floor and finished basement of my home. I called Adaptive Environmental at 4:15 on a Sunday afternoon, and John Evans arrived at my door at 5:05 PM! I was in tears. He took control of the situation. He sprinted to my basement, rolled up his pant legs, and waded through water to shut off the water main. He carried upstairs many valuable items to keep them from being ruined. He took complete control of a disastrous situation. He had a plumber at my house to replace the pipe by 6 PM on a Sunday. He arranged for a pump to be brought in to remove the water. The next morning, he was at my door at 8:30 A.M. to oversee workers. He did all the mold testing and the results were back quickly. After remediation was completed, he came back to test again, and once again, the results were returned shortly. Adaptive Environmental is a fantastic company and I would recommend it to everyone.
