Quechee Inn At Marshland Farm

Had a fantastic time here just relaxing and enjoying the place. Just a wonderfully charming stay. Staff was friendly and very helpful. The fireplace in the common room was so cozy — play a game, do a puzzle or just curl up and read a book, plenty of chairs and couches. Our room got very cold the first night because the ceilings are high and the temperature dropped, they provided a space heater and we were fine. Other then that the rooms are kept up really well for such an old house. Buffet breakfasts were great and the dinners were really good. We planned to eat at a few local places during our stay but were so impressed with dinner the first night we came back again. My wife had the filet mignon and it was very good. I had the Crab Cake starter and it was great both nights. I had the duck one night and the Swordfish special the other. Duck was good (skin could have been a little more crispy but still had great flavor) and the swordfish was excellent. The chocolate lava cake was fantastic!!! Highly recommend it. They also have Eden Ice Cider which was really tasty. Will definitely stay here again when we come back.

I couldn’t have dreamed of a more wonderful place to stay. The ambiance of the structure is utterly charming, but it is the warmth of the people who work here that make it magical. Thank you for your superior hospitality. Alyssa & Sophie command the front desk & exude helpfulness! Tom is a good old fashioned bar tender with great recommendations & creates a seamless support partnership with Mona, or as she’s better known, Miracle Mona, who is a waitress with wings. They have treated an utter stranger with kindness & caring, and for this I am grateful! Can’t wait to return!!!

My mom and I stayed here for a Girls’ Weekend in Vermont. We really enjoyed our stay at Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm. We booked it because it had the best price for our weekend in the Quechee and Woodstock area, but we ended up really enjoying the location and the historic charm. Our room was comfortable, with a modern bathroom, and the included breakfast was great! I have dietary restrictions and was able to eat most of the items at breakfast, including eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruit, and coffee. We did not eat at the restaurant for dinner during our stay. I had read reviews about the rooms being noisy, but we did not experience that with our room. We were on the second floor, on the opposite side of the building from the restaurant. The inn was 5 mins or less from Quechee Gorge/​Quechee State Park and Simon Pearce Glassblowing. We were about 15 minutes from Woodstock by car and 30ish minutes from Long Trail Brewery. High ending to a fabulous week in New England to view the beautiful fall leaves. We spent two nights at the Inn and enjoyed dinner there both nights. Our room was just outside the library dining room, which was convenient after partaking in a glass of wine :) The room was a bit rustic, but it was large and comfortable. The shower could have had better/​more water pressure, but it was a minor inconvenience. The only oddity with the room would be the noises coming from inside the walls; another review said the place was haunted, so I’m guessing it was just a friendly ghost… or outdated plumbing. The breakfast included in our stay was more than filling. Coffee was available whenever we needed it. The main sitting area has a very relaxed feeling with a small bar and wood burning fireplace that paired perfectly with the brisk October weather. Dinner both nights was very nice; maybe the chef could be a little more creative but I’m guessing since most of the guests are older, they might not want anything too experimental. I hope to return someday in the not too distant future to this lovely Inn.

In reading this, I wish I had been told about the 3 course special on Weds, but I digress. Though it would have been nice to know.
The bread they served was overly done and nearly hard as a rock (tho warm).
We started with Jonah Crab Cakes. I’d suggest passing. They were over the top greasy and jonah crab just isn’t lump crab. While price was reasonable, I felt like I could have purchased something better in a grocery store.
Dad had the salmon. I could see it was cooked perfectly. He said he enjoyed it.
I had the market special – a tuna cooked PERFECTLY rare. A tad on the sweet side but delicious nonetheless given the rare cooking and it was also quite sizable.
I’m on the fence re: going again, but maybe I should find out re: this Weds special. Definitely gives you the feel of countryside; it’s not Simon Pearce or Pine in feeling by far.
Friendly service though she seemed to have a bad cough which worried me.

The Inn is very cozy and similar to the set-​up we see here in New Orleans (especially like the Columns). Rooms are decorated in antique furnishing that are cozy but geared primarily for sleeping. The heart of the place is the downstairs area with patio, community room, bar, and adjacent restaurant where you can have a laid back happy hour or convenient nightcap. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Vicki was exceedingly helpful with our housing decision (we chose Quechee!), which we discussed over our included breakfasts both mornings of our stay. In addition to their restaurant, Simon Pearce and the Parker House Inn Bistro are conveniently located just mile or so down the street. Hiking trails are available all around the property, as well.
We would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

This place was wonderful rooms are beautiful, food was delicious breakfast and dinner… warm and cozy fireplace in bar area… such a beautiful setting… we had a fabulous time…

We were in Woodstock, looking for a place to stay, and we were very pleased with this last-​minute find. The room was very quaint, and our evening walk around the area was pleasant. It’s far enough from traffic, and we even spotted a group of wild turkeys in the distance. This place is definitely worth visiting, and my only negative comment is that the pillows were a little too firm for my liking.

This is an overdue review… but, I wanted to also eat at the Inn so that I could give a complete review. First, the staff here are amazing. From the first time we randomly stopped in to check this spot out for our wedding venue, to the tour Michelle gave us, to the second impromptu tour we got from the Innkeeper when I randomly stopped by with some bridesmaids, and finally, the dinner — just Amazing! The first time my fiancé and I stopped by was after a weekly walk we take with our dogs at Dewey Pond (directly across the street from the inn — great trail to the gorge if you stay here). We stopped in just to check things out thinking we might as well give it a shot since it’s a mile from our new home. I instantly felt «at home» here — the staff are so welcoming. The innkeeper and the event coordinator were not available, so the woman at the front desk was very sweet and set us up with some contact information.
Next, I reached out to Michelle and she was very responsive. We set up a tour on a fall saturday that they were actually hosting a wedding. I was nervous to encroach on someone else’e day but she insisted it would not be a problem. Michelle was awesome, so knowledgeable and thorough — she answered so many questions without us even having to ask. The guests and people getting ready for the wedding seemed calm and happy (a good sign I think). I got a good feeling about Michelle when meeting her and think she would be a trusted wedding coordinator and her reviews prove that. Even though we have not decided on a wedding venue/​date yet — this place is an absolute dream wedding spot and it’s still a possibility for us (not to mention my former landlord in Boston was married here and raved about it too).
Fast forward a month later and on a rainy Sunday afternoon my sister and best friend wanted to stop in to see the place. I was just planning on showing them the tent area and the Inn’s dining/​fireplace common area. The Innkeeper (I’m so bad with names and forgot it) was so friendly and asked us if he could help us with anything. I mentioned we were thinking of having our wedding there and immediately said he had to give us a tour. He took us to about 10 of the rooms, of which I was unable to see on my tour with Michelle because of the wedding. He was so cheery and excited to show us «his» inn. The rooms were stunning with so much charm and attention to detail and just gorgeous. I fell in love even more.
A few months later and my fiancé and I finally tried their Friday night 2 for $ 55 deal (including a glass of wine — score). The food was so delicious and exactly what I expected. If you are looking for a 5 star gourmet meal, I don’t think you are going to find that here (and I don’t think that’s what they are going for)… but if you are looking for a fresh, local, extremely tasty meal, they have that here. We had the asparagus/​mushroom soup (SO GOOD), cheese platter (could use some sprucing up), and salmon/​chicken entrees (also excellent — the side carrots tasted like they were pulled from the garden that day, so fresh). The desserts were delicious and I couldn’t stop eating my coconut sorbet — it was so refreshing and the perfect ending.
If you want quintessential Vermont — honestly, look no further.

Don’t be the first seating for sure! I wanted to take my partner for dinner at a nice place that had good ratings; I was so disappointed!!! We ordered the fish and the crab cake dinners. The fish was rubbery, which says to me they either precooked or had a cook that didn’t have any idea what they were doing… in the Northeast where fish is fresh this was a cardinal sin. The crab cakes should have been renamed Hint of Crab & Breading Cakes. The cakes were falling apart on the plate and when broken open trying to find crab was a lesson in futility. I asked then to take it away and send the Chicken dinner. I sat waiting for my new plate the entire time it took my partner to eat her dinner. The waitress came back and over her shoulder told me the chef was sorry and that my dinner would be out shortly, that was not to be the case. Also, as a fine dining Inn I would expect the servers to know proper protocol when taking plates from the table. We both had salads and I wasn’t done with mine quite yet, but the server took my partner’s plate and left me at the table as the only one still eating. Another sin in fine dining.
The only plus is that the Inn is very quaint and cozy with nice views of the pond across the road.

Love it. Rooms are simple but clean and venue is quiet at night. Nice little breakfast and the staff have been wonderful.

Hands down, the best meal experience for the value I’ve had in all of southern Vermont! I am working in the area for a few weeks and this is now my go-​to Wednesday spot. A $ 25 3-​course dinner option full of fresh and local ingredients, superbly put together and presented by a top notch chef… in a «haunted» farm house that dates back to the 1700’s, to boot.
Yes, this is what New England is all about folks. It’s the place you dream of when visiting anywhere this close to the Canadian border. A roaring fire place greets you as you walk in the side door of the Inn which is what I would call the main entrance to the restaurant. Old photos adorn the walls, some going back to the late 1800’s of times gone by… when life was simpler yet tougher on those that lived through it.
I may stay here some day and my SO and I got to tour some of the rooms after dinner because we were curious as to what they looked like. I don’t believe in ghosts and I don’t think the kind front desk lady was that convinced either but she still shared the stories with us of prior guests who swore they heard bumps in the night or got the chills from a «presence» in the room. I felt chills when I was there too but only because the outside temp was 8 degrees but I digress.
We came for the food but were pleasantly surprised to find a jazz band playing holiday favorites. Apparently they were local and one may have been a high school band instructor or something because a teen visiting the restaurant deciding to join them on the saxophone. We chilled by the roaring fireplace as the crew played «Walking In A Winter Wonderland». God, I didn’t ever want to leave.
Oh yes, the food! Quite spectacular to say the least. The soups are amazing and all made in house. The french onion soup was easily the best I have ever had. The beef broth used was not overly salty, a huge problem with many FOS served in restaurants and it was a perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. The locally raised, quarter chicken with au jus and maple glazed bacon is also a can’t miss main entrée.
The dessert of ice cream isn’t overly outlandish because they purvey local Ben N Jerry’s and can get a pass on that. Still, the maple encrusted crème brûlée is another standout here and a flavor concotion I had never had before.
Friday nights are also special here, I think it’s two people for $ 55 for 3 courses PLUS a glass of wine. Don’t walk, gallop on over to the Inn in your one horse open sleigh ASAP because this is as good as it gets.

Really quaint and pretty inn. The front desk was really friendly and we were really happy with our room. Having travelled a lot, I was glad to stay at a unique inn vs the major chain hotels.

Best meal we have had in New England so far! The asparagus ravioli and steak were delicious.
We also stayed the night at the inn and it was a very nice place to stay. The staff at the inn and restaurant were all very friendly.

Woodstock is pretty quiet during the week (or at least it was when we were there), so we headed over to Quechee for dinner one night. Quechee Inn has a nice three course menu on Wednesday nights for $ 24.50 per person. The property was really pretty, the food was good, and while there was nothing super edgy about the place, we really enjoyed ourselves. Combine that with a stop at the picturesque Quechee Gorge, and you will have yourself a nice, romantic night.

What a wonderful place! I have been here numerous times and the food & service have always been fantastic.
We came here for NYE 2012 after our original plans fell through. We were lucky enough that they had a cancellation since we were a big party (12 people). We had a beautiful, private room that was roomy, but cozy. It was just off the bar so it was great bc we felt like part of the whole place too.
There was a great band playing and a wonderful vibe at the Inn. The staff was extremely friendly! The drinks were great too! We were all served our food at the same time and it was hot and delicious! Our bellies were very happy. The place was packed so it was awesome that everything went so smoothly — because you never know on a busy night. We were given NYE party favors and champagne for the countdown and it was just an all around a wonderful time. Yet again, the Quechee Inn at Marshland Farm made our night one to remember. Thank you!

A very nice, reasonably priced Inn in the heart of Quechee, VT. We made a last min plan to head north for the weekend and called the Quechee Inn to make a reservation. They said they had a few rooms to choose from and to c’mon up! When we arrived, we were shown a few rooms and could pick the room we wanted. Fabulous! We picked room #6, by far not the largest but certainly welcoming, warm and charming.
After exploring the Quechee and Woodstock area for a bit, we nestled back at the Inn for a few drinks by the roaring fire. Ah-​mazing. A perfect, old room filled with warmth, charm and very comfy couches. We had a nice night and went to the dining room for breakfast (included in the room) not expecting anything fabulous. However, we were pleasantly surprised with a nice, home cooked full breakfast… albeit a buffet. (If you’re a frequent reader of mine, I don’t do buffets)
Just before we left we were welcomed back and told about some weekend specials (very reasonable) that they have coming up. We hope to see you again soon Quechee Inn!

A pleasant place to stay with clean but rustic rooms. Bathroom was a bit dated and could use some upgrades. The food however, was excellent. The dinner was surprisingly good. The breakfasts were the best.

This is a great place to dine! I have been going to dinner at the Quechee Inn one to two times a year for the past three years (everytime I attend a horse show at GMHA in South Woodstock). We use the the pre-​pix menu (Wednesday nights) everytime we go and I never get sick of the choices. I would highly recommend the asparagus ravioli with lemon cream sauce but everything is great! The atmosphere is lovely with a great staff.
