Petco

I worked for Petco for a few years in the past. This store does not demonstrate any of the values we were taught to have. Every single time I go to this location I have never had any employee greet me or ask if I needed help. They just walk right by without even looking at you. I waited in the aquatics department one day for 10 minutes after asking for help to get a plant. No one ever came so I just ended up bagging the plant myself and bringing the sku to the register. The second time I wanted to get fish and had to have my wife go to the register 3 times to let the cashier know that no one ever came to help us. In California, Petco is the better pet store compared to petsmart. In this area it is the complete opposite. The tacoma location is not any better. The regional manager seems to be slacking when it comes to motivating his/​her teams and keeping friendly staff and clean, organized stores. Sad that I cannot recommend the store I used to work for. I am contemplating notifying corporate about the lackluster performance of these two locations.

Disappointed in this store :(I came in interested in a ferret. I am planning on buying them in the near future and wanted to make sure it was the right fit for me. I also suffer from social anxiety and have a hard time asking for things or speaking up. I stood and watched the ferrets play for about 2 hours. I had one worker come up and make a comment about their energy and walk away. Not one associate out of the 3 – 4 i have seen walk past me 100 times has asked me ’ are you finding everything okay?’, ‘can I assist you with something?’, ’ are you interested in the ferrets?’. Nothing! I am very disappointed in their care for the customer. I even watched one ask three other ladies near by if they needed help and not once bothered to ask me. Thank you Petco for giving me every reason to continue going to PetSmart. At least they are willing to offer me help and let me handle their pets! Not buying anything from here!

Went in for a nail clip for my dogs & one of the ladies was very sweet & actually sat on the floor with my dogs until they became more comfortable. Giving consideration to the fact that my dogs hate nail trims, that meant the world to me.

I would like to compliment Sara in the grooming salon! She did a fantastic job with both of my dogs! I had a regular gal at a different pet store chain and she moved to this store but due to training time wasn’t available yet to work with dogs. I was anxious and apprehensive as I own an akita and a lot of people are threatened or scared and usually won’t give him a chance! He’s a tough one to cut nails but she didn’t blink an eye, comforted me and I trusted her completely. It’s out of my way to be a regular at that’s store and will be going back. Thank you Sara (and the gal who helped you) you had really good customer service and I appreciate you!

It has a decent selection and you can find most items for your pets. When I went in it was an average experience; the staff were friendly at the register but outside of that not much else made this experience memorable. It is an older store so the layout is a little confusing your first time but not impossible to figure out.

Petco is a little pricey but they have almost every brand you can think of, and because of this I shop there.

Dirtiest petco I’ve ever been to. Came in here with my leashed dog, only to find him trying to eat this mysterious ball/​pile of who knows what… years of not cleaning!!!
I found that this store doesn’t bother sweeping the floors or taking any kind of ethical responsibility for that matter to blatantly advertise «bring in your dog» if you plan on not providing, at the VERY LEAST a clean environment.
Brought up the issue with the store clerk who shrugged her shoulders at me, and informed me that a crew comes in and cleans for them.
Will not be returning. Shame on you petco.

You could never find anyone to help you here. Waited 10 minutes for someone to come help with a fish purchase.

I have been coming to this Petco for more than 5 years.
It has always been the «Go-​To» pet store for me!
I have had many many many pets… and always came here for everything.
Recently, I have come several times. to buy and return a gentle leader.
The first time, the size was too small so I didn’t know if I could return it after
opening and testing on my dog.
The other item I also tried using was the expanding leash handle thinger.
Both items were returned and (exchanged for a larger gentle leader) without a problem.
The guy was very kind and also remembered me earlier that day buying the items.
The next day, I had to return the other gentle leader again because it was slightly
too big and my dog didn’t like it whatsoever!
I have read many articles on how dogs don’t like it at first but I also bought a chain collar at the same time to see which one works.
I will continue coming to Petco whenever I need something:)

Not my favorite location. Store is really disorganized, stuff was spread all over the place. Staff was nowhere to be found, even though the store was just about deserted when I stopped in. I would’ve hit them with the one star review, but the item I was looking for was randomly on sale when I came in, so I saved some cash, and that fact will save them a star.

The store got a much-​needed facelift and now seems more bright and cheerful. The new floorplan is more shoppable as well. Its too bad that the staff is still so tired and unhelpful, and thats only IF you can find an associate.
