Corcoran Brewing Company

I think I’d rather go 4.5 for this, but I’m rounding up. Corcoran was a surprise top pick– it was #3 on the Fathers Day Purcellville Four brewery tour. They had a perfect mix of friendly bartenders, letting you bring in outside food (we brought in a sweet picture, so that was good), outside seating, BBQ food, family setting (big couches, foosball), and great beer. Flights were not expensive either. We could have hung out here for a long while and had some inside and some outside. Highly recommend this one for the solid combination of all factors.

Where else can you stop that fits everyone’s tastes?!

Wine — Of course!
Cider — Gluten free and alcoholic, sign me up!
BBQ — uh, seriously!?!
Just plan on being here for a good part of the day, trying everything and eating good food. There is even a little pond for you to enjoy.
Just don’t forget your Growler at home, because you will want to fill up before you leave. IF you do forget, don’t worry they got you! They have some for sale. :-D

Friendly little place; has the «Dad Seal Of Approval». Half their beers are flagship while the other half rotate at a good clip. I’ve been here several times and always had a good time.
5 beers for $ 9 (although I got a 6^th for free since the keg kicked while pouring one of them). This time around the brews had a German theme, but that’s not always true. My previous visit they had a Star Wars theme, including a Sith Ale.
What I tried:
Brewer’s Choice: Super sour! I like sour beers but… wow!
Old Germantown: Pilsner; very light
FU Cancer: Apply named by the brewer in support of a friend fighting cancer; actually turned out to be one of my favorites.
Dutchman Wheat: Hefeweizen; crisp with some mild banana flavors.
Champe: English Barley wine (and one of the few I didn’t like).
Back In Bock: Malty Lager (again, a rarity of a beer I didn’t like)

NIce brewery. They have picnic tables outside and didn’t mind that we brought snacks to eat while we drank our beers. Also free popcorn inside, yay! Out of my flight options I liked the Berlin Turnpike and the Funk beer (a sour) the best. Staff were friendly. There were some families who had brought their kids. Worth checking out!

Went to Corcoran this past Saturday and had a good time. 3.5 stars. If they had more beers that I would have liked, this review would be 4.
I like that they have lots of beers. I think they had around ~20 this past Saturday. Nothing blew me away, but I did enjoy several and did get a pint of the JEB Stuart on Nitro. The selection was excellent. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. Samplers were for 5 beers; we tried 10. Really cute tasting glasses. The place isn’t big, but they fill it tight with lots of seating, which is nice. No trouble finding a table around 3pm on a Saturday (there was on average one table open throughout the afternoon — good, steady crowd). It’s a cozy place.
This is definitely not a brewpub — they offer free popcorn (nice touch) and you can also purchase soft pretzels and slices of pizza (I didn’t have any of these, so can’t comment). It’s nice that they do have munchies for those who need a little something to go with their beers.
One thing I thought was unique, and I haven’t seen at too many breweries (you see it at wineries all the time) — they offer a beer club. Several people there were members because they were drinking out of the steins that come as one of the club’s perks.
I’ll keep an eye out for their offerings to see if they have any other interesting brews coming out that I’d be interested in trying, but I am not sure I’d go back with their current lineup.

Stopped by here after hiking on the Appalachian Trail with a friend. We were referred to the Corcoran Brewing Company by a local. GREAT recommendation! There were about 15 craft brews on tap, small menu for food, free popcorn, and brewery nicknaks. The beer was solid craft beer! Places to sit down with friend us smoke, parking available.
Good stuff — GO!

Great local brewery with fantastic beers. Love the atmosphere and Gina was FANTASTIC! Will definitely be back and looking forward to being able to bring the dogs and enjoy some beers on the patio.
Milk Coffee Stout was phenomenal. Definitely a fan!

A lot of the warehouse-​type breweries I’ve been to have a hard time creating a nice ambiance in that atmosphere — Corcoran doesn’t have that issue. The ambiance here was awesome — live 10-​piece Band playing traditional Irish music, everyone from young families to older couples hanging out and both indoor and outdoor seating options. (Although some outdoor heaters would be nice in this chilly weather.) The beers were solidly good options, but there was nothing special about them that set them apart from other local beers. That was the only thing that kept me from giving them five stars.
One weird thing: they have hear beautiful beer mugs and we really wanted to buy one. Unfortunately, they aren’t for sale — you have to pay $ 100 to join their beer club in order to use them, and even then you don’t get to take them home. You have to leave it there but can use it whenever you come by. That seemed extremely odd and kind of juvenile to us.

This brewery is fantastic. They’re super dog friendly (inside and out), which is great because we have a long drive to get to them and we only make it out because we can still spend the day with our dog. Oh bring your own food in and just sit and enjoy beer for as long as you’d like. The patio is large and often full of friendly people to chat with. The beers are great and unique.

The first time I had Corcoran was 3+ years ago when they were out between P-​ville and Lovettesville and I thought the beer was good and the spot was chill. The current location is nice, I’ve been a few times, but this will be my last.
To start, when we walked in we were greeted with a cold shoulder. The bartender avoided us for a few minutes, then went to bus a table and said she would take our order in a moment. Cool, no big deal. Once she bused the table and walked back behind the bar w/​a massive sigh, she proceeded to not take our order and head to a laptop behind the bar and presumably message friends or do something non work related, because that’s surely more important than paying customers. When she finally got done making post work plans and decided to do her job, annoyed, I ordered a beer and my wife got a 5 pour sampler. My beer was a stout aged in whiskey barrels. I was stoked to give it a try, but the first sip tasted watered down and flat, and each sip thereafter was no better. I tried each of the 5 beers my wife got and I found them to all taste the same, flat and not good, especially the pumpkin beer which was almost gag inducing. I love beer, a lot, but this was some of the worst beer I have ever had, and I was perplexed because my memory recalled it being so good in the past.
I get an employee having a bad day, but picking Facebook messages over customers is piss poor. Even more piss poor was the beer. My wife and I both felt it tasted really flat and not good. So not good, we left 75% of it on the table we sat at and walked out. I was looking forward to chilling at the brewery for a few, having some beers, and escaping the crap weather outside. Instead, I was greeted w/​a cold shoulder, served swill, and had to pay and tip for it. Yeah, no thanks. Next time I’ll just go to Magnolia’s and get better service and killer drafts /​food. I hate having to leave this review, I grew up a town over and love the area, always have, always will, but this experience as a whole was unacceptable and a total waste of time and money.

I’m a fan of Corcoran’s for sure — solid 4.5. The venue is nice, has a minimalist feel compared to other local breweries, and has decent outdoor seating with at times live music.
The male bartender is a staple here — very friendly, and confidently knowledgeable about the beers on tap (he has to drink a full glass of each one they offer before its served). This is big for me, as I often find bartender’s descriptions of their offerings not matching what my taste buds tell me — not the case here.
Beers are all good, some excellent, and they continue to experiment with unique beers — like with the root ale I tried last time I visited a month or two ago that was unique and satisfying. While a few beers were not to my personal liking, you can taste the craftsmanship in each and appreciate them fully. Plus, they offer $ 10 growler fills on Wednesdays, and have the best hours out of all the local breweries.
Highly recommended.

Wow, love this hidden brewery in Purcellville! It was a little hard to find since its behind an office building/​doctors offices. Fun bar and nice outdoor patio seating. There’s also seating near the bike trail.
For $ 9 you get 5 samples of beer. Write the 5 beers you want on the piece of paper at the bar. My favorites were Hallowed Be Thy Ale (an English Old Ale), Heroes’ Stout (an American Stout).
After the tasting, if you love one of the beers get a growler (64oz!). They’re between $ 15-​$ 17, a really great deal!
I would definitely recommend this brewery!

The guy on tap is super nice and helpful. Seems like a packed house. They have a Mug Club for $ 100 with a personalized mug you leave here and get one free fill per week. A flight is $ 9 for 5 tastings.

Wow. Should have skipped the other hard to find not worth mentioning brewery in Purcellville and just come here. Greeted warmly and like a valued customer. Trevor was great and the beer. Wow. Really good. Certainly recommend coming here!

I’m a big fan of Corcoran Brewing. The staff is super friendly. I love IPAs, and they always have several on tap. Corcoran is also DOG FRIENDLY. Seriously, you can bring your dog inside while you taste. The brewery used to be located on the same property as the winery. Back then, you could taste all of the beers at once. Now, you an only sample 5 beers. I guess a few douche canoes got too drunk and ruined it for everyone. Oh well, I can’t really fault the owners for limiting the tastings. This is a solid brewery. Go check it out!

Nice atmosphere; and to whomever was in charge of the ambiance music — big thank you! You rock! All in all a very cozy place and a fantastic experience. Now, that was on Thursday afternoon. I wonder what this place is like on weekends? Gonna come back again soon.

My brother and I and a good friend visited Corcoran last Sunday for an Ale tasting. We arrived about 2:00 pm.
We each ordered a flight of five ales. You get to choose which five you want to taste.
I went with the following five ales:
— Catoctin Ale (5.5% ABV): Catoctin Ale is an English Pale Ale. But it has a nicer hop level than most English Pale Ale’s I’ve tasted. I don’t usually like English Pale Ale’s — but this one was really good! Nice hop level but not in your face!
— P’Ville Pale (5.4% ABV): An American style Pale Ale — really, really good!
— Loco IPA (7.2% ABV): An American-​style IPA — well balanced hop profile!
— Hops the Bunny (6.0% ABV): Another American IPA with a bit of citrus influence balanced with the hops. Also delicious!
— Mosby’s Raider DIPA (9.2% ABV): The lone Double IPA — but not pounding you over the head with hops. Fantastic!
First time I can remember where I’ve been to a craft brewery and liked every single Pale Ale and IPA! All were outstanding! Kudos to the brewmaster!
I enjoyed it so much that I went back for a second flight of Ales to try some others — as did my Brother.
Second flight:
–Slainte (4.5% ABV): A delicious stout with chocolate undertones!
–Paeonian Porter (6.0% ABV): A nice balance of vanilla and chocolate notes…
–Round Hill Root Ale (6.8% ABV): This Ale is spiced with a variety of natural ingredients (roots) and vanilla beans. I don’t usually enjoy spiced Ales — but this one was different. The intersection of flavors really resonated with my taste buds!
–India Wheat Ale (6.3% ABV): Supposed to be hopped like an IPA, but it came across a bit odd tasting to me. The only Ale I did not completely drink.
–JEB Stuart (9.0% ABV): An Imperial Stout — very strong! The Stout was aged in Bourbon barrels, and the Bourbon influence really shines through strongly, deliciously!
The place is dog friendly. When we arrived, several dogs were hanging out with their owners chilling.
The folks working here were very nice. Ambiance is nice. place is comfy! I can’t recommend this place enough! Excellent Ales!
I will be back!

Manfriend and I had been to Corcoran Brewery back when they were located at the vineyards in Waterford, VA and after much success, deservingly so, they expanded and grew larger into a new space. While touring three wineries in the Purcellville area, we remembered Corcoran Brewery had opened their new location and wanted to take our friends and check out what was on tap. Their new location is located BEHIND the Inova Medical Center Building which I find kind of funny in case you know, you need some B-​12 injections after one too many brews. On that note, drink responsibly!
While making our way over, we were a bit confused at their hours. Their website said they were open until 8pm but we called and spoke with one of the staff, Trevor, who imformed us they closed at 6pm. It was approximately 5:40pm and told Trevor we were on our way and would be there in minutes. He said, not a problem, there are still a few people drinking and I’ll wait for you guys. We got there 5 minutes later and Trevor was waiting for us and pumped out 6 samples in rapid fire. Manfriend is a big fan of Corcoran Brewing Co. since our last visit and was very happy he got his brewery visit as a reward for being dragged to three wineries by his girlfriend and her two gal pals. Golden star for manfriend!
Trevor was great and laidback and did not rush or kick us out although we tried to finish our beer as quickly as we could because we didn’t want to be «those people» (aka d-​bags) and luckily were out before the couple that was finishing their beer when we arrived. There is a patio out front with outdoor seating, tasting room is dog friendly and there’s even a doggie water bowl. Like our first visit at Corcoran Brewing Co., we enjoyed our second visit for the same reason: great place, great staff, great beer! We’re fans and would recommend.

Great brewery, beer is delicious, amble selection with a few creative brews. The space is welcoming, you would never guess from the outside. I’d highly recommend a visit, relax and enjoy a flight. The only regret was not bringing a growler.
