Dr. Steve and Dr. John Moenning were the founders of Harborside Surgery Center, Punta Gorda’s only free standing surgery center. Founded in 1995, the center has grown to include other specialities such as General Surgery, Colon and Rectal Surgery, Pain Management, Orthopedic Surgery. In 2006 a portion of the center was sold to Health Management Associates a publicly traded hospital corporation, based out of Naples Florida.
Chosen from among his peers through out the State of Florida, Dr Steve Moenning has been one of six Governors to the American College of Surgeons. Having received this vote of confidence from his fellow surgeons, Dr. Moenning considers this «to be one of the highest honors I could receive». Gulfshore Life magazine designated Dr. Steve Moenning as a Colon and Rectal «Top Doctor» for 2011,2012, 2013.

Dr. Stephen Moenning is board certified in both General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. What does it mean to be a board certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon? To achieve this status, Dr. Moenning first had to successfully complete 5 years of a General Surgery residency, then get accepted into an accredited Colon and Rectal Fellowship program. Dr. Moenning passed both written and oral boards as well as having successfully undergone recertification for both specialities.
