Powell Nursery & Landscaping

Recommend as a resource for good quality plants. Prices tend to be a little higher than big box home and garden centers but may be worth it if you are doing carryout or looking for a specific plant.
Even though I have used a few times in the past for plant installations, I can no longer recommend — unless you have a very simple job in soft soil. I advised the nursery up front that hard digging was required to cut out palm tree roots and paid a premium above normal installation fees that should have covered as much as 6 hours labor. Based on my own 40 years of gardening experience, I expected about two hours of labor for one or two workers. The two young guys sent out attempted to use a power shovel and gave up after less than 10 minutes. I accepted a refund rather than pay «a lot more» for the job because I lost confidence in the work of the nursery’s installers.

You could spend hours looking at all the plants and trees they have. Didn’t notice any pots marked with prices, but the staff is willing to help with any questions. Once told of the prices, I found out that they were very reasonable. A hidden gem of a place.

We got a high recommendation to get our trees and shrubs from Powell nursery and found them to be friendly and helpful. The Bismarck we chose was a good value for the size and their stock is healthy. The plants we chose are growing very well with the instructions they gave us.
