This place delivers a lot more than you’d expect for a hotel-connected restaurant. This is one of the better steakhouses in Utah County, and the food has definitely gotten better recently. They deliver the steaks sizzling on the plate. The cuts are high quality, and they know how to cook them. Pretty much every cut I’ve had been prepared wonderfully, and I’ve had perhaps five different steaks– ribeye, T-bone, new york strip, and filet. The sides are always tasty. One favorite are the jalapeño poppers with the jalapeño jelly. Unfortunately, the service is hit or miss. Sometimes it’s been great. Other times, I’ve wondered if they forgot about us. You get a bucket of roasted peanuts in the shell to munch on while you’re waiting for your food. The atmosphere has a fun western theme with western paintings, brightly colored boots scattered around the restaurant, and country music playing.

Disgusting. Our food was either cold and hard, or cooked incorrectly so when the kitchen brought back the steaks, they were so hot the grease was spitting on everyone at the table. Waitress would not leave us alone, taking our drinks away and refilling them even after a few sips. The kids menu was a joke, and the kitchen refused to make a small adjustment for my daughter. Would not come here again, I know other guests had complaints about how their steaks were cooked as well.

They used to have the best steaks in town. Not so much anymore. Out of 10 steaks, 5 were raw. My fillet was tasteless, my husbands ribeye was very thin. Management was not very concerned. Last company party we will have there. It just is not the same anymore. It really is too bad.

Good not great. We do love dining here on Sunday’s. Good service, nice and quiet and the food is decent.

This is attached, confusingly, to a La Quinta over by the mall, so parking is a chore and also a bit confusing. The obligatory buckets of salted nuts are there, but the lobby is sort of small comparatively. At times, you can get a drink while you’re waiting, at least in Salt Lake. Not so much here. I did get offered to be seated, but declined while waiting for others to arrive. I think I’ve now hit all of the Ruby River locations. The food here varies kind of wildly, from greasy and not very good calamari, to acceptable jalapeño poppers, to the first glass of iced tea, which was good to the second, which had a slightly brackish overtone to it. Jacketed yam was undercooked. I went with the peppered bacon steak, one of them, don’t recall which now. I asked for medium rare and it came close enough to that, though, of course, at that level, the bacon was severely underdone. Pepper blend was ok, but this wasn’t anywhere near a steak I would consider great. Call it mostly competent and a bit chewy. Service was borderline outright bad. Not deducting for it, but the server noted a lack of experience at the onset, which was borne out by a ton of miscues and borderline agonizing slowness. At some point, restaurant management should have stepped in and been checking on those tables of a server that new, but nope, not once. All in all, I would consider going here again, but this local chain, all locations, has been on the skids for a while now and this one definitely isn’t going to be buoying it up… better than Ogden and Salt Lake, entrée’-wise, but much worse than Salt Lake service and appetizer-wise.

Excellent steaks; juicy and well-seasoned. Best wine selection we could find in this town. Cowboy décor is fun, but not distracting.

The food here has always been good and tasty but the service is useless. There are dozens of servers but they don’t manage at all. Perhaps a low tip will remind them. Edit: service picked up and the amazing steak covers for the initial bad service. Extra Star.

Horrible service at afternoon. I am a client of this place for 5 years. The food was never great but, they have a almost always good margarita. Please don’t go there on the middle of afternoon! There is nobody at the entrance, if you go ahead and get a table at bar. The waitress take 10 minutes to show up. Foods take forever and this time 2⁄3 of my plate was absolutely empty. I asked for a manager the guy came took a look at the plate and said it was right 3 ounces of chicken and 2 spoons of rice. That is it! Well, no good margarita worth this. I am taking my business some place else.

Exhausted after fighting SLC traffic for 2 hours — checked in at LQ, didn’t have the energy to get back in the car. We were worried after the negative reviews(ends of ribs overcooked? really? geez). Very busy for a Thursday night — I think other travelers had the same idea. Seated quickly, waiter was attentive — a bit forgetful, but followed up quickly. Food was prompt, above average quality for a chain in this price range. I had a house salad and the appetizer trio — artichoke dip is sinful! Salad was big and fresh, the steak and avocado egg rolls were interesting and good(avocado was perfect — always a worry with avocado in cooked foods), cheese fries were yummy :) My husband had the ribeye and veggies — not brilliant but very good. WAY above average for a cheap chain hotel restaurant! Score for LQ!

Delicious meal! Excellent service! I ordered the grilled prawns with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. Oh so good! My husband ordered a bacon cheese burger, which her also liked. We’ll come back next time we’re in town!

So i went here before i was a Unilocaler. It was so long ago i didn’t really remember what it was like. So here i am to save you time and money. And a feeling of shame in the stomach as your sheepishly drive away. Started off with a bang! The mozzarella garlic. Oh lordy this hit my taste buds and I was so hot and ready to eat some more of their delicious food. Imagine my disappointment. The ribs and rice… rice was not great(ps they dont have many good options for sides) it didnt seemed cooked all the way through. We almost sent it back but i was like… I’ve seen movies its not worth a possible poisoning ;) The ribs had a delicious bbq sauce and… that about says it all. The ends were way overcooked, but inside wasn’t too bad. but 17 bucks for a half rack… when you could get some WAY better one from BBQ joint… come on man! The steak was fatty… not the delicious kind you can easily chew. The butter pepper flavor were very well done. The mashed potatoes were freaking delicious best part of the meal along with the mozza fries, But lets be honest… how hard is it really to make mashed potatoes. THEVERDICT: on the wall it says«vote best steakhouse in Utah 2014&2015. Well utah must be littered with crappy steak.(ps i know this not to be true i have had better steaks in other places) it must be a vote for Ruby River magazine… but ya know stuff. Just go to a BBQ joint and save some money… get more food, and have a much more delicious experience. Once again… i just saved you time and money… and intacted your dignity.

Came here 2 nights before my wedding with out of town family. I had read some reviews a few years ago and was sceptical, but was pleasantly surprised. I had a 12oz with blue cheese and a jacketed yam. Portions were huge(2 meals for me), service was pretty decent, a bit of a wait, but the food made up for it. The entire family loved it, and my wife and I have both mentioned wanting to go back. Pricey, but well worth it. It’s not someplace to do often, but great for special occasions.

We wanted steak to celebrate our anniversary, but don’t love Sizzler and the wait at Texas Roadhouse was stupid long for a Thursday night. We’d never been to Ruby River but thought we’d take a chance and try it out. Sure are glad we did! Yeah, it’s more expensive than either of those other two chains, but I think it was worth it. The ribeye was incredible — cooked to perfection, and well-marbled(which I like). My husband’s steak dip(their take on the French dip sandwich) was awesome. I don’t like French dip at all normally, but this was fantastic — focaccia bread, steak, thick melty cheese, and a tangy sauce that brought it all together. With most meals you get two sides, which should be standard if you’re paying $ 12-$ 25 a person. The sauteed mushrooms were plentiful and rich, and I was also very happy with the baked sweet potato — er, sorry, «jacketed yam.» Their version of the free rolls is a hot loaf of homemade sourdough with regular butter. It was SO. GOOD. My only complaint there is that it came out with the rest of our meal rather than before. I’m not sure if that’s how they do it at RR or if they were just slow. Which brings me to my one real issue. The service, while friendly, was very slow and they weren’t all that busy. I think that they were understaffed, because it seemed like our waitress was doing everything, and the few other employees I saw seemed to be scrambling. Oh, and I got a Dr. Pepper and both refills were pretty flat. Not sure if their carbonation was out or what, but that was annoying. Overall, though, we were very pleased and will be returning.

Perhaps a step above Sizzler but not a very big step. I view Ruby River as a Mid level steakhouse with an affordable price of $ 13.00 to $ 17.00 a plate for a variety of 8 oz. steaks. I finished most of my plate but was more impressed with my low bill at the end of lunch than the actual meal itself.

My first time here before the BYU vs USU game this past Friday. It was so good! Prime rib medium rare was gone hella fast. The mashed potatoes with garlice and cheese were hella good too. And the waitresses are pretty and got nice backyards, if you know what I’m sayi… nevermind. Anyways 5 stars for being the first steakhouse to pop my steakhouse cherry! Maybe in the future I’ll go to some other steakhouses and find other cool stuff about them but Ruby River, you’re hella awesome!

In the thriving metropolis of Provo, it’s not always easy to find a good meal. There are tons of chain restaurants and a smattering of local joints. Ruby River is sort of in between. It’s a local Utah chain. I’ve been eating here once or twice a year for the last decade or so and have only been severely disappointed once(11 years ago, so the statute of limitations has expired). The last few times I’ve eaten here, it’s been fantastic! The service has been top notch, with the wait staff and management going out of their way to make sure we are happy and to let us know they appreciate our business. On our most recent visit, we all opted for steaks. Porterhouse and filet were cooked perfectly! Tender, moist and well-seasoned. The sides were all delicious, as was the browning onion appetizer. Kudos Ruby River! Kudos!

Ruby River is a damn decent steak house with a just splash of theme to keep it honest. It’s a great place to take your folks when they’re in town but can definitely be a date location too. It has a lot of the elements of a much higher end steakhouse but at much more reasonable price and isn’t so fancy that you can’t wear a tee shirt. When you go to a place like Texas Roadhouse, you’re assaulted by loud country music, ostentatious decorations and the food is fine enough but the atmosphere can be a little overwhelming. Ruby River has all those elements, but turned down to a much more pleasant degree. You don’t have to yell over the music, there isn’t some decoration splashed over every surface and the food is much better.
