So sad to write this review! I’ve always LOVED Tommy’s. Got an Italian sandwich for lunch today. Opened it up to find this! There is literally ONE slice of salami ONE slice of hot ham and ONE slice of cheese on this sandwich with what looks like the hope that if it was covered with enough lettuce it wouldn’t be noticed. The whole end of the sandwich has nothing on it :-(I get cutbacks but really?!

For special occassions at work we will order a bunch of pizzas from Tommy’s. The broccoli garlic pizza and the eggplant pizza are easy favorites and are always delicious. The eggplant pizza is fantastic – a lot of eggplant cooked perfectly. That said, the few times I have ordered Tommy’s for myself, I’ve noticed the quality can vary. The crust can lack flavor at times and sometimes it’s just too much cheese. Tommy’s does deliver but there is a minimum and it can take a while. If you pickup, be prepared to walk back in time. The place is very small, wood-paneled, and clearly hasn’t been updated in a while(or ever).

Real good pizza, the pie looks a lot like Caserta’s Pizza but the taste is totally different. It can be a little tough to park on Chalkstone Ave at times but it’s worth the effort for a great pizza.

I grew up in Providence with Tommy’s always being my favorite. Now whenever I’m in the area I stop by for that reminiscent taste, still great as ever. Thank you Tommy’s.

Tommy’s has been in business for years. I have been getting pizza from here a good 5 years. I usually go with the meat lovers and when it’s good it is really really good pizza. Only problem is that they are so inconsistent!!! One day you go it’s amazing, go like 3 days later you get below average pizza.(Maybe even burnt) They need to find some consistency, even though I still do take the risk once in awhile because pizza can be that good

Let’s be real, this is the best pizza in the state. This place hasn’t changed since I was a kid and I’m A-Ok with that because it means I’m getting the same amazing food at reasonable prices and super speedy, efficient service to go along with it. The white pizza with broccoli is so freakin good but nothing compares to just keeping it OG and getting a large cheese and some curly fries, picking up some good wine and having my friends over for good ol carb-heaven night. Hope they keep the tradition of greatness alive for years to come!

Best eggplant pizza I’ve had! Meat pizza was also very good but on the greasy side. Wish they had another location closer to the east side.

This has got to be my all time favorite pizza shop in RI. I have been going here since the sixties when Tommy was there making the pizza. Now, a couple of generations later, the place has remained the same down to the booths and tables, and décor. Pizza still tastes the same; the same sauce recipe and if I am correct, the pepperoni is still sliced at the restaurant and there is plenty of it. I like mine without cheese, just pepperoni, and cooked crispy. Seating is limited but never had a problem sitting. A lot of take out and delivery and they have another location in Cranston, which I have never tried. Nostalgia keeps me going to the Chalkstone Street location.

The best! This is the pizza my ate every Friday nothing can compare. And the second location is just as good as the original.

Best pizza in Rhode Island. I’ve been coming here for 40 years and have never been disappointed. Besides pizza, the grinders and spinach pies are second to none. Try the Super Italian Grinder! You won’t be disappointed either. Well worth your trip.

Hands down favorite pizza ever! We always order ours well done because we like our crust a little crunchy, and it comes out just perfect every time. The Italian grinder is pretty good and the spinach pies are great! Definitely recommend!

Nothing to rave about here. Inconsistency is really killing them. First time I had their pizza, it was really comparable to Caserta’s. Traditional, greasy, curled-up mini pepperoni cup kind of pizza. The second time, I had an eggplant pizza(their specialty) and it was better than good. Salt, pepper, whatever was was on it made me want to order again! Just had an eggplant pizza and a deluxe(without anchovies) today. Both were bland and dry — even when we asked for extra sauce. I didn’t even eat a second piece of either. Was hoping the Unilocal reviews about it being hit/miss were wrong. Can’t say they are. And it was really expensive! $ 40 for 2 pizzas? I’m broke + unsatisfied! ByeBye, Bad Pizza.

Tommy’s Pizza is the best pizza maybe in the world LOL. to me :) There is plenty of sauce and cheese on the pizza. They normally cook the pizza just a touch over, which makes the crust crispy and amazing. It is on the thin side. Their Green Monster is a HUGE(you can feed 2 with it) spinach pie with cheese and olives a little crispy too, and to die for. And it’s about $ 3!!! I don’t mind the clutter of the place(pizza boxes) that I’ve seen others talk about, but I’ve been going to Tommy’s since I was kid, about 35 years so I’m used to it. I don’t usually eat inside, but I do enjoy it. There are limited tables. 4 or 5 booths and 2 tables. I make sure to take all my out-of-town friends there when they visit. As of recently, however, their pizza prices have really gone up. :(I think my last large was $ 17.00(w/o delivery tip). It’s worth the money to me, though :)

Love Tommy’s! I’ve been having Tommy’s since I was a kid living on Harold Street. I’ve moved since then TWICE and I will always go back to Tommy’s!

My father will tell you he’s been coming here since he was a kid and Tommy was the original owner. He will also tell you the place has not changed a bit and that’s a beautiful thing. We come here quite a bit and always have a great experience. The décor is kind of like your hoarder aunts house. There’s all types of cool old memorabilia all over the places. It’s small but cozy. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is made fresh and served piping hot. If your in a hurry call ahead of time since it’s made to order. We always get fries and the portions pretty big. They are crispy and hot as fries should be. I always get a small cheese pizza cooked well and it’s always on point. I’m not sure what they put in the gravy«I’m italian that’s what we call it «but it had a little sweetness to it. If your looking for a small locally owned pizza place with reasonable prices good food and good service id highly recommend it. And bring me. I can’t get enough of it.

Tommys is the only pizza joint that gets EXTRA pepperoni right. And their pepperoni is the only pepperoni in the state that still curls up and makes great little cups of grease.(Perfect Pizza every time).

When it comes to pizza, I am a bit picky. Why wouldn’t I be when I live in the land of pizza(aka Providence)? I have a few places that I enjoy, but finding one that will delivery to my house is another story. I was feeling adventurous and decided to try a new place. After reading other Unilocal reviews, I determined delivery was the way to go. When I called to place my order, the woman who answered the phone was anything but polite, patient, or nice. I asked if their mushrooms were canned or fresh; they are in fact canned. So I forewent toppings and ordered a small cheese pizza. She didn’t offer the price, I had to ask. And she hung up on me before I could give her instructions for the delivery driver. Delivery was relatively quick, but the delivery driver was just as friendly as the employee on the phone. The pizza was pretty good. Thin crust and plenty of sauce. The cheese was nice and fresh which is a must for me. The key deciding factor for me is how it tastes warmed up later on. My other place is great hot but gross rewarmed. Well Tommy’s Pizza is just as good reheated. However, their lack of fresh ingredients is somewhat of a deterrent in making this my new go to pizza delivery place.

Why just 3 stars… I so wanted to like this place. It has all the ingredients. Small, low ceilings, slightly below ground with housing upstairs and a real pizza joint feel. Sadly I was so not impressed. Mainly because I ordered a pizza with mushrooms and… OMG they were from a can! The sausage was good as was the peperoni and bell peppers but guys really… a can… you just can’t do this. Add this incredulity the pie was a little uncooked in the center and was certainly not done in a coal or wood fired oven. On an up note the service was very friendly and the beer cold.

Got take-out with a friend. The place is small, cluttered with empty boxes and really needs a good dusting, it was very off putting and made me wonder about the kitchen. The pizza itself was good and if the place was clean, I would go back. I just can’t see myself going back unless they cleaned it up and removed the empty boxes. It’s a shame because the pizza was decent,

A Rhode Island Institution Tommy’s has been around for 40 – 50 years and there’s a reason. This is one of my favorite pizzas in Providence, but there are 2 issues. One, you can’t eat in there. The place is tiny and uncomfortable. Two, like others have said, it can be inconsistent. However, when they get it right it’s pretty damn good. If you’ve never been here before, order a pepperoni black olive pizza well done. Get it to go. Great pizza most of the time. Thanks

For many years, I felt Tommy’s had the best pizza in Providence. The woman who answers the phone can be rude at times, but the pizza was worth it. I didn’t have to live with her. :) I ordered a pizza last night, and was disappointed to receive a very dry pie. Tommy’s has become a hit or miss place. The prices are higher than most pizzerias in the area, yet the quality and consistency has declined.

This pizza! Not fancy, not trendy, but tasty, plentiful, and cheap. It should tell you a lot when I say I drive past a lot of other pizza places to get here, some of which might even deliver to me. Some people might say the ambiance is a little lacking*, but it makes up for it in the friendliness of the staff and the feeling that it really is the quintessential local pizza place, where they really do know all the regulars. The sauce to crust to cheese ratio is just about perfect, and it’s never soggy or burnt. Also, the sausage is proper Italian sausage, grilled and then sliced. That alone almost merits a star in my book. *Having to go to the closed upstairs portion, outside, for the restrooms is a little skeevy.
