The Providence Flea

Went on Fathers Day. More of a crafts fair than a traditional flea market.

Really nice location, good food trucks. I enjoy checking it out on sunny days, but to be honest if you are looking for antiques, you will probably be disappointed. You will find a good collection of «vintage» junque and accessories. If that’s your thing, you should have a good time browsing the market. Just don’t expect a lot of period antiques.

I heard a lot of hype before coming to the Providence Flea so unfortunately I had high expectations. This did not meet my expectations basically by size & variety but I think it’s a cute way to spend an hour or so and I would do it again. I did purchase a few items all in the spirit of haggling which most vendors welcomed. I did notice a few craft vendors too.
Afterwards the food trucks were there to keep us busy a little while longer. It’s so pretty by the water!

Shame on me for coming late to the party on the PVD Flea. Great vendors with a variety of goods to suit all interests. And hi, all of my favorite food trucks (Mijo’s, Like No Udder, Gotta Q) are here? Yes, please. The Greenway is the perfect setting for a Sunday stroll, shopping, and lunch. Much parking on nearby streets makes this a Sunday morning must from now on.

This place is a great way to spend some time on a Sunday! It’s not a typical flea market, it’s more like an upscale fair, but they have really cool stuff and there is a lot of different types of vendors. There are also a bunch of food trucks so you can sample from Providence’s finest! The view of the river is also beautiful. I really had a great time and I’m already looking forward to going back!

Lots of cool stands. Some have flea market merchandise. Some have crafty stuff like jewelry, art, clothing, etc. They have stuff for pets, kids, adults, you name it …
A good deal of food trucks and food stands like Fork and Brownie, North Bakery, etc. A nice stroll on a warm Sunday.

Very organized flea market. Antiques, vintage, crafts, jewelry, art, books, local foodstuffs, etc. And if you’re hungry, they have several food trucks on site.

Very different than Revere or Raynham MA. Craft artists and affordable antiques. Folks hand making wind whirlies out of wood, table art out of welded bolts.
Bought GrandMa a bracelet made out of a silver spoon, I got a book on the Hurricane of 1938’s effect on Providence, both reasonable.
Nice location next to a river, street parking, parallel line of food trucks.

Really impressed with this flea market. They had a really good variety of items available so something for everyone. Lots of jewelry, homemade food items, food trucks, housewares, etc. And the price range was pretty good overall.

The Providence Flea offers an array of vendors that range from the outlandish to the more reserved finds that you may have not even thought about wanting (or gifting) such as a Polaroid camera collection or a hand stitched doll. There is also a plethora of food trucks and live music, so it is easy to make a fun afternoon at the Flea with the family.
Even if you can’t find the gift or item that you are looking for, it makes for great «window» shopping. I am always amused of the quirky items that I see on the rows of tables and displays.
So, although this season has just ended, I highly recommend getting to the flea next year. You never know what you may find.

I am a true flea shopper, and I will hunt down vintage items and furniture – but the Providence Flea disappointed me. I’m also spoiled from going to Charlestown for their flea market ever since I was a kid.
Most of the vendors there sold jewelry, and I did see a few favorites from the Scituate Art Festival, but I was disappointed in that many of the items were curios and nothing really unique. There was a vendor selling herbs and tomato plants though which was interesting.
I might check this flea market out every couple of weeks, but it won’t be a weekly staple.
There were quite a few food trucks which was great, as I visited my personal favorite – Noble Knots – and there is plenty of space by the riverside to sit and enjoy the weather.
Pet Peeve – many people bring their dogs to these events, and the dogs just seem miserable and hot. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying your canine friend, but keep in mind that it might be overwhelming for them!

After sitting outside of Hope Highschool for a confusing 10 minutes on a Saturday before I realized the Flea is only open on Sundays, I was able to come back the net weekend and really check it out.
I found that the vibe of this Flea was very different from the summer one, but not necessarily in a bad way. There was a live duo playing that could be heard at a pleasant volume throughout the Flea and the vendors were all friendly and helpful. I did find that this one had more of the artists aspect to it, along with the vintage vendors. I also found that the prices seemed more reasonable than the summer one.
There were 2 food trucks parked outside, but with the cold, I stuck to the inside.
I walked away with a few unique Christmas gifts and some items that I regret not buying… really just an excuse to go back.
There was a mixture of vendors who accepted credit cards and cash, so be prepared with some cash just in case.

Everything that you knew and loved about the Providence Flea outdoors has moved into Hope High School for the winter. Thank you Maria and team for bringing this gem to Providence.
Maybe it was just for the holidays, but I totally dug the mix of more traditional flea market venders and independent artists and entrepreneurs selling their jewelry, soaps, food, etc. It was like flea meets the indoor farmer’s market.
Ample parking in the back. More than 5 foodtrucks there last Sunday! Bathrooms inside a bonus. Missing those lovely waterfront views… but we can wait until spring.

I was very pleased with my first trip to the Providence Flea this past weekend. The weather was gorgeous and I love the location! It is a magnet for food trucks, many I had heard about but had yet to spot around Providence! There was a great mix of the typical flea market fare and other hand made crafts/​jewlery. A cool highlight was the guy selling old boardgames and toys. It was fun to reminisce about games/​toys from my childhood I had long forgotten.
I know it is a new event for the area, so I hope to see it grow and attract more vendors. I hope to return in the months to come!

As long as you don’t expect a typical flea market, you’ll be happy. The people here are vendors, artists and craftspeople selling their goods. There are also plenty of antique and vintage dealers selling all the cool duds that THEY probably found at traditional flea markets.
It’s a wonderful little market in a scenic location (on the water) with an assortment of delicious food trucks on hand. It’s dog-​friendly and there are a few dog treat vendors. Lots of the vendors have dog bowls which is nice.
A great addition to the Providence artist community and those of us who like having central places to meet and buy from them.

When I heard about this, I was very excited. Originally from the wide-​open spaces of the West, I spent many a Saturday afternoon cruising outdoor flea markets stocking up on cheap, second-​hand goods. From my experience, a flea market is a huge array of multiple yard sales you can shop in one place. That being the case, the Providence Flea is not a flea market. It was just another craft fair incorrectly named.
There were only 15 – 20 booths, and most of them sold jewelry. Granted, there were some interesting designs, but not at flea market prices. The same went for the couple of booths that did have some second hand looking goods, but these were more like antiques or collectibles.
My family and I wandered through it in about a half hour and left after we got something to eat. I might go again if I’m in the area, but I will not make it a point to go.

I was psyched for the beautiful location and the myriad food trucks lined up and all the pups everywhere but… it was NOT a flea market. It’s a craft fair and a small one at that. I feel the people running the show did so much advertising for months leading up to opening day and there was so much hype but when I got there, I felt like someone just popped my balloon and thought to myself, «womp. womp»
Two stars may seem harsh but it wasn’t a flea market like I was really hoping for and I still think Providence needs a good flea market and even when taken at face value of a craft fair, it was definitely, «meh».
So I guess if anything, it’s good to know where all the food trucks will be on Sundays for the rest of the summer…

I love this Flea Market — sure, it’s not the seedy heaps of off-​cast stuff you’d find on a corner in NYC or a drive-​in movie theater lot in Wellfleet, but a higher-​end, upscale gathering of vintage, thrift, artisan and crafts vendors in a beautiful setting in a burgeoning city. I love it!
In addition to all the clothing, jewelry and crafts, there’s a flower seller, which I just love. This past Sunday they had oodles of gorgeous peony in bloom, and coupled with the brilliant sunshine and warm summer weather, I was in heaven.
The Providence River bring a nice breeze, making it a pleasant place to meander for a while on a hot summer Sunday. I love the addition of food trucks — probably more than I have ever seen in any other spot at the same time here in Providence.
There’s plenty of parking between the street, Bacaro’s lot (it’s free and empty on SUndays) and the South Main St spaces. I highly recommend coming to peruse this lovely market — it’s a ton of fun and a very welcome addition to the PVD scene!

What a beautiful day to kick off the opening day for The Providence Flea! Wow, so much to say… Vintage, Antique, Hipster, and Up-​cycling all unite on the Providence South Main Street River Green Way!
For the past few weeks, I have have anxiously been awaiting for June 2 to check out this venue, and I can say I did not leave disappointed! I scored a silver plated piece of jewelery fashioned out of silverware by the Olive Spoon Studio. I must say this was a one of my favorite vendors/​tents. I talked to this vendor and they will be setting up shop here again, so I might make my way down again for some adorable spoons for birthday gifts that I can pop in the mail, or a impromptu bridal gift — because every couple deserves a pair of forks that say «Mr. and Mrs.» on them!
As a recycling enthusiast (no joke, I take that ish seriously!) I really loved the vendor Providence Plastic Project. While I did not buy anything this time, their vision is great and I wouldn’t mind owning a wallet with a funky design! — Maybe next time!
On to… CURBSIDE reCYCLES… if you dig bikes like myself, you must check this vendor out, and at the very least talk to the owner James because he’s ready to keep you in mind for a particular bike if he doesn’t have what you’re looking for. He’s also very knowledgeable and can offer some great advice for your current wheels!
So much jewelry, vintage clothing, clutches, furniture, oh and I CANNOT forget the ever amazing food trucks galore (heaven).
While, I personally, loved this event, I think some people may be disappointed mainly due to the fact that the words «flea» is attached to it. If you’re going for a «flea market» deal, this may or may not be up your alley — you will not find your old VHS player, boxes of old screwdrivers, or knockoff purses here! I found most vendors to be on the high-​end scale, with less clutter than what I know as I know as flea market. If you can wrap your head around it being more of an outdoor artisan venue, it might help you decide if this is your type of place.
I say, go with an open mind, explore, learn, and maybe you’ll leave owning something you never thought you would! This is the place to meet your local artisans that may have not made it to a store front yet, and I have a great appreciation for all of the artists/​vendors that keep on working hard doing what they love. It’s called passion!
P. S. Ladies, Gents, and Vendors — hold on to your hats, dresses (in my case), or tents because it WAS windy!

Lovely spot to be in the warm weather! Held at Gardner Jackson Park/​the Providence River Greenway, this flea market has vendor after vendor selling a variety of vintage clothing, antiques, crafts, and more! Plenty of parking on the street (or in the Wild Colonial lot I found myself in) this market is an easy in and out. Food trucks such as Like No Udder, Fusion Gourmet, Plouf Plouf, and the like line the street for a quick bite to eat.
Shuffle through the grass with the cool ocean breezes whipping through your hair while you peruse the unique fare… Bring your kids, pets, and friends! Take a break by dangling your legs over the river’s edge or rest on one of the benches lining the small boardwalk.
I will likely return for a Bit & Little Bit vendor t-​shirt stating «Rhode Island: 3% Bigger at Low Tide» cause it’s just so cool :-D
