I’ve been fairly underwhelmed with the liquor stores on the West End, unfortunately. Most have a terrible wine selection and are over-priced. So my 4-stars is relative to the general selection of the neighborhood. The best thing they have going for them is probably their craft beer selection. I haven’t explored it extensively because I’m not really a beer drinker, but it occupies a good amount of their inventory. Wine selection is not that great in general, but you can find a few good bottles if you poke around. Prices are average. I do find it annoying that most of their bottles don’t have prices on them. I like to know what I’ll be paying BEFORE I’m at the counter. But anyway, the employees are SO friendly, it’s clean, organized, well-lit, you can always get parking, there’s an ATM, and there’s also an ice cream cooler!

Reyes Liquors is an awesome, neighborhood spot where a wide variety of spirits can be purchased. I was introduced to Reyes a couple years ago by my boyfriend’s sister. She swears by them and encouraged us to give it a try. Boy, she was not wrong! Reyes ALWAYS has the best variety of craft beer, hands down. They always tend to carry a number of local craft brews from the tri-state area and beyond. I have never left their store empty handed. They have all types of beers to choose from, whether you like IPA’s, lagers, sour beers, porters, stouts… they have got it! If you are not a beer drinker, they also have a variety of wine and liquors to choose from. The neighborhood that Reyes is in, is up and coming. The area is becoming more diverse and as a result of that Reyes offers a little bit of something for everyone. My tastes range from craft beer, tequila, to sparkling rose… they have got my covered. Their shelves are are always stocked very well. On my visit visit, my boyfriend inquired about a couple rare IPA’s and if they were carrying them. The employee who helped us was very helpful and struck up a conversation with us about the local brews and their availability. A word to the wise, if you happen to see one of their staff members stocking and you cannot find what you are looking for, they might have it in the back and only sell it to customers who specifically ask. Those instances would be more common with sought after IPA’s such as Captain’s Daughter or Rico Sauvin. Reyes also has a great selection of mixers to go along with their variety of spirits. Whenever I am in the area, I make it a point to stop at Reyes. They have never let me down with their selection of brews, tequilas, and other spirit offerings. Their prices are also very reasonable. I encourage people who are new to the area to stop in and check it out or if you have never been in general, give it a shot.

Reyes is my go to neighborhood liquor store. The staff is so helpful and friendly, plus their selection is HUGE. Their widest is definitely beer. They just put in another full standing fridge to expand their already strong lineup. If you’re a regular, they’re happy to take suggestions and order certain brands specifically for you, as long as it is something you buy often. Their wine selection is a bit weak, but I just love this place as a whole so much, I couldn’t bear docking them for that. I’m not much of a wine drinker anyways.

Great place! Used to swear by the place on Atwells, but these people are just as great and have way better prices!

Reyes Liquors has an appropriate selection of booze given the neighborhood. By appropriate, and suspending judgment(to each their own), here’s a sample list of the very wide variety of selection and quality you can find here: Foolproof, Colt 45 malt liquor, Shipyard, Arbor Mist, Peak Organic, Sutter Home White Zinfandel, Moët & Chandon Rose Imperial, Casillero del Diablo, Jäger(ok fine. I judge the Jäger). I personally think you’ll get a really bad hangover from a lot of the options here(esp. the wine), but the craft beer selection is surprisingly good and I love the mix-a-six. What I don’t like about this place is that sometimes the pricing seems out of whack with alternatives, the price labeling can be better(there’s been times I’d have to wait in line to get the register to scan an item to understand cost), and the parking situation can be a major cluster with patrons haphazardly blocking the road and private lot(common sense people, TRIPLE parking on the street and sidewalk and/or blocking the lot entrance in your car is rude!). I like Reyes Liquors just fine, I just wouldn’t feel compelled to make a special visit if I wasn’t already in the neighborhood.

This is the best liquor store in the armory district. They have a huge beer selection from craft to macro to singles in various sizes(22floz budweiser bottle 2 bucks) and it is always the coldest beer ever. Broadway liquors has a shitty selection and high prices and Tropical liquors is just straight up cracked out.

Although I still miss the Tropical Market that once exlsted in this spot, there was much anticipation for another mid-location liquor store. I love the people at Broadway, but the prices are high, the wine selection not so plentiful as Reyes, but still for wine they can’t beat Tropical, they can only surpass with niche array of small batch liquors, Excellent range and selection of local and small brewery beers. I don’t think crafty should quantify when describing breweries anymore. Space clean, lit up and they do a fair amount of tastings and the prices are very reasonable. The location is especially good for time, weather, parking and ease of access. The owners are friendly and helpful its all a win win.

Before Reyes Liquors, I used to shop at Broadway Liquors(meh) or Tropical Liquors on Cranston St.(oh lord!). Now, I don’t ever have to go to either of those places again. Reyes seems almost too perfect to be in my neighborhood — it’s clean, well lit, the service is quite good, the selection is extremely good considering the size of the place, and best of all(for me) an unparalleled selection of ice cold forties. Yeah, that drunk homeless lady might hang out on the side of the building and harass the customers from time to time, but this is the West End, so you’ve got to expect things like that from time to time. The bottom line is you’ll never have to, or want to, go to Tropical Liquors ever again.

For in-city booze-buying, it’s hard to go wrong at Reyes. Clean, bright, surprisingly well-stocked, competetively priced — it’s a convenient stop made even better by plentiful street and off-street parking. They don’t have everything a larger place would have, but for a corner package store they really cover the bases. Craft beers to cheap wine, they’ve got it, plus your expected behind-the-counter offerings. Prices and selection are enough to keep me happily in the neighborhood. Bonus good will: When they first opened I left my debit card at their counter. I called them up the next morning when I realized it and they had kept it for me. I got it back no problem.

Friendly staff and conveniently close to my apartment, but a bit overpriced on some items and not a very good selection of rum — my liquor of choice

Great little store. Good selection of beers(esp. Mexican style). Open all the time, friendly staff, occasional zany customers.

Reye’s is my new go-to neighborhood liquor store. Clean, bright, friendly, plenty of street parking, fun vibe on the inside with beach chairs and an umbrella set up, great store flow with plenty of room to browse and register close to the door on the way out, and existent selection of microbrews. It’s definitely a mom and pop operation that does not cater to my demographic(yuppie)… as evidenced by the plethora of cheap canned beers sold in bulk(I’m looking at you Bud, Miller, and Coors). The business cards on the counter are exclusively in Spanish and they don’t have a website or social media presence that I could find. If they had a better selection of microbrews and more competitive pricing, I’d give the full 5 stars. But I feel welcome every time I’ve stepped foot in there and am happy to keep returning because it’s just so convenient to park and go on the way home from work. Good riddance, Tropical Liquors. I will not miss the inappropriate sexual come-ons of your customers, the insane parking and traffic on Cranston St, and the poorly designed store layout that constantly had me bumping into customers in line to pay while I was searching through the coolers on the right for the microbrews that never came. Proud to buy local. Pleased they finally opened their doors after the strange controversy about zoning that a few neighbors spearheaded.
