Peter Pan Bus

The update:
Left 10 minutes late, but arrived right on time. I’m giving them 4 stars.
So far I’m solidly in favor of this company– despite the fact that they have some simple glitches they provide courteous, service at a bargain. Rather than ask a pal to brave rush hour traffic on 95, I got a ride straight to Logan for $ 20 same day online ticket. Can’t beat it.
The fact that the ticket MUST BE PRINTED, was of course am issue– no one every seems to Have ink, or paper with their home printers– i was gonna go to the library when i noticed the website said the bus station will print out. Cool, but is it the right bus station???
No address on the webpage. Google maps comes up with TWO BUS STATIONS in pvd, and its been my experience that relying on inference for obvious things like this must be the station bc it is named «Peter pan bus station» is how I’ve ended up stranded.
So I call. The guys a jerk, but yes, it’s the place & yes they’ll print a ticket & I wasn’t on hold more than 2 minutes before talking to a person.
There is no food at this joint, but there are bathrooms that work and are quite clean which you should DEFINATELY use bc I’m not going to go check out the bathroom on the bus for you. That is for emergencies only.
The bus left 10 min late; we’ll see if that matters.
The driver is very professional & even bothered to make an announcement asking Riders to skip yelling into their phones or playing loud music.
So far so good.
Oh, don’t try using the cup holders.

Bus was clean, on time, the electrical outlet worked and the driver was professional. So it turns out the negative reviews I was worried about were totally not accurate as far as my experience. Yes you need to print your eticket.

I had no problems with the actual bus ride; but this Providence station, never anything special, has deteriorated dramatically in the several years since I was last here. Broken or missing chairs in the waiting area. Nowhere to get food or water. Marginally clean bathrooms. Even the Peter Pan history displays are a disordered mess. No one in there cares about the condition of the terminal. But you can get lottery tickets!
At least the air conditioning worked, but I don’t think I’d want to go through there in the winter.

Your WiFi doesn’t work, I don’t appreciate being told to get in the back of the line to stand there and wait for the bus driver to take everyone else’s tickets who decided to step in front of me, and then receive no apology or explanation for your shitty version of customer service. Add that on top of the overpriced cost to go back and forth from Boston to Falmouth, and you have an extremely in satisfied customer. I’d give you no stars if I could. :)

This is one stop from the end of the world. The fast food is closed now for good inside the terminal. Deplorable. Not even a vending machine. Nip around Cemetery St and maybe there will be a Little League game and maybe an ice cream truck. Or at least get water at the hippie park. Have these Peters not heard of organizing food trucks?! Awful. No good reason why stop needs to be 45 minutes either!

Filthy bus. Wall outlets out of service. No seatbelts. Wifi doesn’t work.
I’d rather ride a three-​legged camel through the desert for a week than take Peter Pan Buses.
This female bus driver is a miserable witch. Very rude and unpleasant, she’s like that every time I take this route.
Huge raise in prices for a one way ticket, not worth it at all.

In general, very reliable as a bus — on time, excellent drivers. A couple of notes: 1) you will need to print out your tickets or be prepared for a scolding from the driver. 2) don’t plan on using the advertised power outlets at the window seat. The last two either had no outlets (removed with metal covers in place) or the outlets didn’t work. 3) wifi works great signal but very very slow.
Hence lower rating. Book online and print those tickets out.

If there is such a place as Purgatory, it will surely look like the drab suburban concrete-​block and drywall bunker that is called the Peter Pan Providence Bus Terminal.
I have been traveling with Peter Pan for 15 years, since they are the only long-​distance carrier to Cape Cod, a trip which unfortunately and maddeningly requires a long layover in Providence. The terminal is utterly lacking in any kind of comfort, convenience, or traveler amenity.
Until recently, there was a Dunkin Donuts concession. Not the healthiest or most filling of choices, but sufficient in a pinch. Now this has been shuttered and there is nothing you can buy for food or beverage (though there is a lottery ticket vending machine, so predatory financial schemes are still available). Plus, the terminal is in the middle of nowhere, so there is nothing within easy walking distance. So, when you are stuck here with a befuddling hour and a quarter (!) scheduled layover in the middle of your lengthy bus ride, if you didn’t pack a serious meal, you’re screwed. Plop yourself down on one of the uncomfortable, collapsing plastic bucket chairs and twiddle your thumbs a while.
The restrooms are usually serviceably clean, though they have all of the charm and none of the comfort of your average prison cell block. Use them while you can, before they close them down, too.
Forget about charging your electronic devices. Your plug will slip right out of the wall outlets, which I assume are larger to accommodate the plugs of industrial floor-​cleaning equipment.
It would be far better if Peter Pan used Kennedy Plaza for long-​distance layovers. There, at least you have a proper downtown (or the remnants of one anyway) with restaurants and a park to keep you entertained while your bus sits inexplicably idle.

It is not located in down town Providence which is a good thing but does make a stop at kennedy Plaza on the way to New York.
Exit 25 off 95 south and it is three minutes with Bus terminal signs all the way. Located in a safe remote area with 30 minute parking spots and a long term parking lot across from the terminal.
It is an easy way to travel to New York.

First time Layover to Providence Peter Pan Terminal. I have no idea that you cannot buy anything even water. They have a bending machine for lottery but no bending machine for at least a drink?
For first timers like me, you better bring food and drinks or you will be crazy thirsty or hungry.

PVD — BOS. In off hours it can be faster than the train. or it can make strange detours and random stops at parking lots in attleboro. It’s almost always a bit more expensive than MBTA commuter rail, and can even be more expensive than amtrak depending on when you book.
It’s more convenient, I guess, for getting to logan, but it will cost you $ 10 – 15 more just to avoid changing to the silver line at south station (and the total time is about the same).
But the amazing thing is this: in 2015, this company requires you to PRINT OUT a ticket. For a BUS. Even the MBTA commuter rail has had a ticket app for 2 or so years at this point. The stone-​age mentality is actually the biggest reason not to bother with Peter Pan.

Booked bus online from Bourne to NYC Thursday to Sunday. Cost $ 105 rt. Bus arrived on time in Bourne, made stops in new Bedford, Fall River and Providence. Stayed in Providence ½ hour. No bus change so no worries of luggage. On time and drivers pleasant. Bus not crowded. Seatbelt a pain but my tush is bigger than it should be. There is an electrical outlet to meet phone charged. Will travel this way again and recommend it.

I just completed a round trip from PVD to NYC. I was a bit freaked out by the slew of bad reviews. Fortunately, I had no problems at all. The buses were clean and the drivers congenial. I’m giving four stars because they departed and arrived exactly on time with no inconveniences. The internet didn’t really work, but it never really does in group situations w folks streaming Netflix. Also, there’s a head’s up at the parking booth when u enter that clearly states they accept cash/​check only.

So they ended up refunding both the bus ticket and the cost of taking amtrak instead. This restores some of my faith in them but their excuse was basically that their ticketing systems do no match up so they basically leave a few spots empty on the last bus in the hopes in will not be overbooked is kind of ridiculous. I can only assume this happens all the time.
Also, just last night, they overbooked the second to last bus and made everyone wait for the next one instead of sending another bus. So those folks will now get in incredibly late (if they are not left in Providence).
So I appreciate the refunds, but this company has a long way to go to get their act together.

Never again. Horrible driver who must hate his job. Wireless does not work. A porta-​potty bathroom with hand sanitizer. Their website kept going down when I needed to check my on my transfer because the bus was an hour late. If my fare was $ 25 I might understand, but for $ 70 I expect a bit more.

The bus wound up being 90 minutes late. The bus originates in Providence, guys. This isn’t rocket science.

Peter Pan Bus staff at the desk is aloof of their policies and come up with random surcharges to add to the original $ 25 ticket to new york. you should never have to pay more.
they charged me $ 20 to change tickets that were already purchased for 8pm, just so we could take the 6 pm bus.
Buses never arrive on time.

Unilocal should start allowing 0 star reviews, because that’s what businesses like Peter Pan deserve.
I am currently waiting for the bus – as I have been for almost 3 hours – as I write this.
I booked a 8:40am trip to NYC from Providence. I got to the station at 8am to wait for the bus. At 8:35am, a bus pulls up but refuses to take us because it was the 8:30am bus. The driver tells us to wait for our bus and left, even though the bus was not full.
Fast forward to 9:25am and the 8:40am bus is finally here. We all get in line again, and what do you know? It’s overbooked. Another bus pulls up then, but the driver tells us we can’t leave until 11am.
So there are over 10 angry people sitting in the terminal, an empty bus, and a driver milling around trying to kill time. What’s a pretty picture.
The driver says he’s willing to drive us if the dispatcher gives him permission. We talk to the customer service representative at the station. She tells us we just have to wait. Unwilling to accept that as our fate, I call their customer service line to explain our situation. He gives me the same answer!
Time to switch tactics, since logical reasoning isn’t getting through. So I threaten to use every social media outlet to which I have access to let people know that Peter Pan is the worst bus company and make sure that they lose thousands of customers and hundreds of thousands of dollars in business.
He puts me on hold after that. But when he comes back, he still tells me that we all just have to wait. Oh, you thought I wasn’t serious?! I always keep my word.
I am going to do everything in my power to make sure Peter Pan loses as much business as possible. I sincerely hope it goes bankrupt soon.

This is a review on the Peter Pan bus terminal in Providence, not on the company itself. My (3-​star) review of the company can be found on Peter Pan’s Springfield, MA, Unilocal page.
There are a number of interesting things about this Peter Pan terminal. First, it is not the same thing as the Greyhound terminal at Kennedy Plaza (though, a few connecting buses transport passengers between the two a couple of times per day). Thus, if you find yourself at Kennedy Plaza or at the Providence Amtrak Station, needing to get to this terminal, you’ll either have to book yourself a Peter Pan ticket from Kennedy Plaza to here or you can take a northbound RIPTA Bus 99 to Main St. and Cemetery St. and walk a couple of blocks.
The reason I know this is because of my latest (eventful) trip here. This is how my trip broke down:
Leg #1 (Amtrak): Boston South Station to Providence Amtrak Station, 11:10am — 11:44am
Leg #2a (Peter Pan): Providence Kennedy Plaza Station to Providence Peter Pan Station, 11:14am — 11:30am
Leg #2b (Peter Pan): Providence Peter Pan Station to Storrs, CT, 12:40pm — 2:15pm
Now, I know what you’re thinking: How in the world did you catch Leg #2a if Leg #1 didn’t even arrive into Providence until after Leg #2a completed its trip? Here’s the catch: I didn’t take Leg #2a. Finding it useless to have to leave Boston early just to catch a bus that would leave me with over an hour of layover time IN THE SAME CITY seemed useless. (In fact, I would have had to leave Boston even more than an hour early in order to make it to Kennedy Plaza on time to catch Leg #2a — no thank you!). I confirmed with Peter Pan that I could still pick-​up my will call ticket for Leg #2b when I arrived in Providence, and after getting such confirmation, I planned on taking the RIPTA Bus 99 to the Peter Pan station.

Come the day of travel, I have no hitches in my plan… until I arrive at the Peter Pan bus terminal. I’m told that they cannot print my ticket because I booked it through Greyhound. Oops. Luckily, they let me slide — many thanks to the super nice ticket lady behind the counter! — but be forewarned: If you book a Peter Pan ticket on
, you must pick it up at Greyhound’s Kennedy Plaza station!

Peter Pan is what it is. My most recent bus trip (Providence to Logan Airport) was quick and cheap. The power station and wifi didn’t work, the bus driver was a bit rude to me, and it’s confusing as hell to order online, especially in trying to figure out if you’re going to the downtown Providence station or this one.
Oh well. At least it’s cheap.
